THE THREE TURNING POINTS IN MY BINGE EATING RECOVERY JOURNEY - In this video I share some of the realisations I had, which significantly impacted the course of my recovery. If you are searching for the answer to the question of how to stop binge eating, sometimes it's not about finding the answers out there but about those inner realisations that create profound shifts.

Dear Sarah, once again you so much hit the point, bringing thoughts to my mind that do acutually resonate. The dissociation within, the need for numbing my feelings. After 20 years of BED and weight gain, there seems to be a touch of hope and light on the horizon. Thank you for what you do and offer here. Warm regards from Austria, H.

What an excellent video! I can relate to all three of these turning points. Removing restriction, challenging my thoughts, and looking inward have all been crucial in my recovery. I know that food and nutrition are important and that was the first thing I tackled. As I have progressed in my recovery, I realize that everything I had been doing was being filtered through my mind. Every action I took had a thought or a belief behind it. Once I started writing down my eating disorder thoughts and challenging them, that is when I started to make real mindset shifts. I'm particularly comforted by this idea of inner wisdom, because I believe we all have it. It is just a matter of learning to tap into it.

I couldn’t agree more! And writing is such a helpful way to get those thoughts out of your head to be able to observe and recognise when it’s old thinking popping up cos it can be real sneaky!

Wow, you are AMAZING! Everything you say, is exactly how I think. Hearing someone else talk about it like you do, is so helpful. Also makes it easier to actually "explain" my thoughts to loved ones. Thank you!!!

Hi Sarah, I found your channel just over a month ago as I had my own realisation about myself. I've been watching your videos, not in any kind of order, which is why I'm 2 years late commenting on this one 😊 but I swear it's like you're reading my mind.. Everything you say rings so true to me, looking back I don't know how I didn't realise that there could've been more to my "eating problem" than just me being greedy or having no self discipline, as you say we look at things very black and white!! I'm glad it was me that eventually realised there could be something else going on but once I realised and then found your channel I honestly do feel like a weight has been lifted.. literally!! Saying that, I'm not getting on the scales as that doesn't interest me anymore, it's about the freedom I now feel to just live without being controlled by the numbers on the food items and the numbers on the scales ❤ thank you for your videos and wealth of advice and kindness ❤

So you first just want to lose a few pounds, but the restriction itself cause binge eating. Then it’s constant weight gaining and restrictions on food created all these emotions that keep binge eating…you were not even fat when you started but all these happening…Thank you for sharing. It’s very helpful.

I finally told my mother about my binge eating situation, and now she wants me to see a doctor or someone that I can talk to, but I am so scarred of doing that. Every time I binge eat I just think that I can do better the next day on myself but then I binge eat again. Idk what to do

Firstly, well done for sharing with your mother. I am always going to be someone who encourages talking with people who may understand. I spent years telling myself to do better and could not understand why that didn’t seem to be possible. If you are open to speaking with someone and you’re in the UK, perhaps you could start with calling the Beat helpline or even using their email support? You aren’t committing yourself to working with someone, but you can see how it feels to speak with someone about it who is trained to offer support. www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/get-information-and-support/get-help-for-myself/i-need-support-now/helplines/
