Hey....at the ~ 0:18 sec mark. I noticed the dryer power cord is clamped to the wires and NOT the sheathing. That is a serious issue! Please fix or tell the homeowner to get it corrected. The vibration could cause a wear in the insulation and a short ckt. Being a 220V//30A supply that would be big problem. Cheers.

First off....super thx for the product info! Definitely getting the Magvent. Couple of things though. 1 I wouldn't use tape for the at wall connection. Although tape is cheap, it's messy. Reason? Your going to want to remove that connection when cleaning the ductwork. 2 Make an alignment marker with blue painters tape. Put one on the dryer and the wall. This will be used to align the dryer with the vent after cleaning. 10X easier to see.
@JV-wl6ex22 күн бұрын
I’ve used both mag vents in different homes and they are hands down the best connection system to make sure that nothing gets jacked up in the future. No worries about bad kinks where a dryer fire could accumulate. Invest in the system and hard pipe and then cover all your joints in Aluminum tape. Also mount the frame in solidly to the wall. In the long term you won’t be dealing with leaking or pinching exhaust. One Less thing to deal with

The corrugated aluminum removed from the dryer is not the stuff you want to use, it's used to vent your bathroom fan, this will catch a lot of lint and become a fire hazard. The correct material is like a Mylar, like the material in this kit, it is very smooth so it doesn't catch the lint. They also make a vinyl dryer vent material, I don't know if that's still legal but I think it's still better than corrugated aluminum. Just an FYI on dryer vent material.

I tried looking for videos but has no luck. Now I had to put old one back on and it’s all bent behind dryer so again I’m scared to use it. Haven’t been able to use now 5 days. Thank you for all the helpful tips on doing dyi.

Hi! The mv-180 is designed to fit inside a regular 4 inch duct. Just cut your existing duct flush to the wall. No need to remove it. Install the mv-180 flange to the wall with screws and push the piece with the magnets inside your 4 inch duct.

11:30 that exterior vent is in a terrible location and it should have been relocated rather than cutting away the house below grade or so close to the grade. Even if the grade was not a concern, it would be ideal to move it away from the AC condenser which is likely to get dryer lint in the aluminum coils which will degrade its performance and require a lot more maintenance cleaning (which most people do not do).

That dryer vent is one of the best designs but unfortunately it isn’t made out of UV resistant plastic and ends up cracking and yellowing. I have had to replaced ours several times over the years and have another replacement ready to paint, this will be the first time trying this. I want to see if painting adds any protection from UV, I just wish they were made out of a better material, shouldn’t have to go through this for what they cost.

I couldn't watch after the first 20 seconds. Just can't get over the wiring on that dryer. Good thing you have that magnetic vent hose because it will make it easier to reconnect after the firefighters pull it away from the wall to extinguish the flames. Please fix that wiring. The strain relief clamp should be on the outer sheath of the power cord so the individual conductors are protected from damage.

Where I live that flexible hose you have will not pass code. Nor will your magnetic connection pass code. It has to be a secure connection so it can't be pulled or knocked off. Hustle all our connection points have to be sealed with tape. And that neat little 90° box then you have would be considered constrictive. Just because somebody makes a neat little idea does it mean code. Spend a bunch of money put it in have something go wrong. The insurance company denies your claim. Because that's what they're looking to do anyways. Ceiling all joints and connections on ductwork of any nature is not optional. Don't listen to him. You need to seal all of the connection points including the long portion down the length of the tube. How many shows you if you just ever wanted to clean your dryer event you just pull the dryer out and it falls off just like that. That's what makes it not code compliant because it can be easily disconnected. Now for the dryer he's using it wouldn't be a big deal because it's an electric element. But if you have a gas dryer You may not wake up. And his final end discharge portion of his vent kit. I have found many of these to be totally filled with lint because the airflow has to go up at the very end where the pressure is lowest fills that whole thing with lent. And people don't see it they don't think anything about cleaning it out. One last thing to say If him cutting that still plate to add that silly clean out at the end. Looks like he's tearing up the house well he is. It looks like a hack job because it is and adding that additional piece of pipe inside another pipe causes a lint trapping situation also he has not installed any flashing or taking care of any wood that is going to rot. I wish KZbin would take this guy off KZbin but of course all they look at is money.
