@@cheerful_crop_circle "You are actually wrong because the monitor is the most important and essential part that links the PC" Yeah no shit, that was my point too. "If a monitor is more expensive than the PC itself, it doesn't make sense at all." This sort of comparison makes zero sense because you're making a >blanket statement< about a subject with dozens of details to take into account. Let me make an example: A photographer or videographer can spend $1000 to buy a computer that suits their needs for photography or graphic design, but then spend $2000 on a monitor that can be professionally calibrated and color accurate for that kind of work. So there it makes perfect sense to have a monitor that is more expensive than the computer. For example a Mac mini M2 costs around $1000 and is extremely good for photography production, and a professional photography display like an Eizo 32" 4K 100% AdobeRGB costs $2000. The price of your computer dictates the >speed< of certain things like game FPS and video rendering speed, while the monitor dictates >visual quality< like color accuracy, contrast, resolution, size etc. They are two completely different factors and you just cannot say that A is always more important than B etc, because it all depends on the use case.

So I can crop and center a 27 inch/1440p image for higher fps? Can I move that image to the bottom middle of screen or is dead center the only option? I ask this as I need glasses so the monitor has to be close and low where hitting my hands on the bottom of it already happens occasionally.

I would like to know this as well. It isn't a dealbreaker for me. But as I am currently sitting on a 3080 + 7600X I will struggle in some games to reach good fps or I might prefer a smaller display and higher fps in e.g. CS2. Having the cropped 27" in the middle might strain my neck if I have to look slightly upwards if I move the display closer as I probably will when using it in 27" mode for games like CS2.

I personally think that the following sizes are the sweet spot for popular resolutions. 1080p: 24 inches 1440p: 27 inches 1440p ultrawide: 34 inches, which is big yea, but remember it's 1440p ultrawide so a really stretched out monitor. 4k: 32 inches. That's part of why the monitor in this vid is so great. 8k: Well apart from how brutally demanding 8k is to get 60hz in games, there are also no 8k monitors yet, so it's not really a viable option yet. Yea, you can get the Dell Ultrasharp 8k display, but that's just not aimed at gaming. Average imput lag and lower response times than you're used to on pretty much every gaming display. I made this more detailed than necessary, but I have no regrets.

The slew of 32" QD-OLED 4K panels coming out are really tempting. The only thing that may be concerning are their potential usage as a PC monitor. I tend to leave my PC screen with sleep disabled or sleep after an extended period of time. Modern OLED panels are obviously more resistant to image retention than earlier panels, but it is still a possibility. The RTings experiment on image retention show that it tends to happen after several years with a consistent image. Maybe HUDs could be those consistent elements, but most people don't leave a game sitting idle while in-game for days at a time. But Windows, Linux, and macOS desktops are designed to have elements on screen almost all the time.

Like the Alienware except flat and with a worse warranty. Promising, but it'd have to be priced pretty competitively to give up on Dell's 3-year hassle-free burn-in warranty, considering it's the same panel with similar features. MSI are releasing almost the same exact product as this monitor, that may be available sooner than Asus, for $200-ish less than Dell, so who knows. Probably best to wait and see for the dust to settle as we've still got Samsung, HP and Gigabyte yet to launch theirs based on this exact same panel soon. Gigabyte and HP come with DP 2.1 so we likely won't need to rely on image compression for 4k 240hz on future GPUs. For anyone preferring daytime usage, the slew of monitors based on the competing LG OLED panel will be launching later this summer. Plus they come with dual-resolution that does 240hz at 4k or 480hz at 1080P. I also expect prices to start dropping quickly with so much great competition. A good year for monitors, finally.

£1500 for a monitor that has 240hz refresh rate but PS5 max out at 120hz, ha ha great plan that! Cost of PS5 and this monitor would buy you a very high end gaming PC that does a lot more and is fully upgradable. Plus it would be able to utilise the 240mhz refresh rate. I can’t see many of these monitors selling for PS5 / XBox users.

I have a question, do you have a video on the best gaming monitors under a certain price bracket? Like best monitors under £500? I mean, I currently have dual 32 inch 60 Hz refresh HD monitor for my set up. Yes it is a 1080P monitor and it's a big 32 inch display so you could see the pixels. Definitely thinking about upgrading to a better monitor and this one was perfect because l did not want to compromise on the size of the display but at the same time I want a good quality display with high refresh rate. And this monitor fits everything 32 inches, 4K, 240 so high refresh rate. But the cherry on top is the fact that it's an OLED which is a big deal because I can't get over the fact that my main monitors for my main gaming PC set up are not sharp. And for other people, maybe they don't really care or can't even tell the difference but I could tell the difference due to the fact that I do daily drive a 15 ProMax, 23 M3 Max MacBook Pro 16in, 24 iPad Pro 13in, and an Ultra Watch. All these have OLED displays and definitely there's a big difference between OLED and a regular non OLED display. But the price might be a little steep, but I'll probably just buy one out of the two monitors and it will be my main monitor out of the 2.😊
