So recently my daily driver Sierra developed a lifter tick so might as well install a cam to get me a little more power!

Lifter tick comes from a worn out o-ring in the oil pickup tube. $3 fix

Depends on how much boost you run, you can get away with 6-8lbs of boost but more than that I’d gap the rings.

a lifter tick is nothing unless you have the 07 and up dod or afm other then that a lifter tick wont hurt the motor

Add a extra 2 quarts of oil maby 3 and it will quit ticking. Your oil pickup tube oring is bad. This brings oil level up to the o ring and problem solved watch and see

@@BOOZECRUISERCUSTOMZ overfilling the oil causes windage problems at the bottom of the crank and it also severely robs horsepower... never overfill the motor or trans imo... to get rid of the lifter tick put some atf or seafoam in the oil and drive it around a while before changing oil. The detergents will clean the gunk out of your pushrods and top end. Ls motors have a through pushrod oiling to the top end and if a hole gets clogged it will starve the top end of oil and tick. Also a shitty oil filter doesn't help i.e. Delco, fram, etc... I only use wix or k&n and they have an anti drain back valve and better quality. God bless.

@@jewbabydono the 4.8 is exactly like the 5.3 just less hp. And has better torque on top end. You can tune the 4.8 with out even many mods. Check out LS swap guru he does alot of tuning for this 4.8 trucks.

I need some help , my 2002 Silverado has a very bad fuel problem . I put about 19 gallons of fuel and I get about 150 miles when I’m suppose to get around 280 . It turns off and it has a hard time turning on. Where are you guys located ?

I had a garbage LS4 5.3 in a Impala SS. 3 engines with the tappy tap tap. Replaced under warranty 3 times in 50k miles in a year. Full service records too .they bought it back and that was that. I bought a Nissan Titan after that. It went 400k happily..with 395 hp..stock

Not if you do it yourself. I just rebuilt my entire top end. Everything brand new with a BTR cam and new timing set. New intake, injectors, plugs and wires as well. I got about 2500 in the whole thing.
