I Just discovered you. Subscribed. This will sound dumb to most but I HATE a long winded intro and I also hate a long winded video. I subscribed because you aren't with of those! You get to the point and don't stretch out a video with useless nonsense. Thanks! Now... the video was great too. thanks!

There is the "Hantug" Tremolo, used by Brandon Ellis on his Jackson for example. And there is the "Graph Tech - Ghost LB63" Floyd Rose style, with the Piezo system in it.

sophia and futone trems are underrated for a reason - their insane price tag

Kahler is the most advanced tremolo on the market. It allows to adjust the string spacing and even the saddle radius that's crucial for guitars with the compound radius fingerboards. And this tremolo can be blocked easily with the screw in the baseplate (only the modern design ones). If you build the guitar from scratch , Kahler is one of the best options if you need tremolo .

I tried the kahler only once. It's genius. I wish more guitars came stock with a kahler.

A lot of focus on the Kahler 2300 but frankly the cheaper Kahler 7300 Hybrid meets the requirements of most guitar players, and is a fair bit cheaper than the frankly exorbitant 2300. 7300 'Hybrid' is pretty much the same as the stock optioned 2300 in terms of construction, they're all USA made. The only advantages of the 2300 over the 7300 are - 1) The 2300 is your only option if you are left-handed, the 7300 does not have the drill holes for left handed players and is only for right-handed folks. 2) You really like customizing your Kahler trem like you specified for the FU-tone. You can change the saddles, roller material etc. on Kahler's website when ordering the 2300, the 7300 goes along with the stock options selected on the 2300 product page. Also you missed out on two advantages over the other trems - 1) There is a neat little screw that immediately changes the bridge to fixed. No tremel-no type accessory needed. 2) The fine tuners have a lot of give - you can pretty much go down a whole step through the fine tuners. Might help in a pinch if you're trying to casually do covers in jam sessions with buddies and want to quickly change to Drop D or D standard from E standard and don't want to spend too much time detuning just to riff. Recommend folks check out 'Rexylab' and his interviews with Gary Kahler if they like different kinds of guitar hardware. Also, most folks who hate the Kahler recall the much older Kahler Steeler/Flyer systems, or the old Kahler Pro bridges, and haven't tried a modern 2300/7300.

Glad you said that my favorite system is the zero resistance 2 from ibanez. I have it on my s series love the fluidity of the bearings as pivot points and one of the easiest trem systems to tune/intonate/maintain I could glaze over ibanez gear all day

@@shanobi1kanobi I do not have the Zero Resistance model with the ball bearing pivots, although I would like to try one. My Edge Zero-II has the knife edge pivots, on a JIVA 10, which is essentially an S-series or formally Saber.

I'm a Kahler fan. I was first attracted to them because of the low profile. They're not in the way of my palm like Floyds are. I realized quickly that the cam system feels smoother than a fulcrum style. I don't particularly like Kahler's behind-the-neck lockdowns, though. Unless your nut is cut perfectly, there can still be some small slippage/tuning issues. It's not terrible, it's not a deal-breaker, it's just not perfect. It's perhaps 90-95 percent as effective as the Floyd locking nut. If you set your nut up right and keep it clean etc, especially if you don't do much radical divebombs or super aggressive trem work, you may never notice a problem. Ideally I'd put a Kahler bridge and a Floyd nut on, and boom you're golden. I believe the original Kahler had a Floyd style nut, but there were some lawsuits... If you're used to and enjoy a Floyd, I don't know if the different feel of a Kahler would really be worthwhile to you. But if you see a guitar with one at a store or somewhere, check it out and see how you like it. The Kahlers are really well made, everything feels solid, and as the host mentioned you can adjust your saddles so they're exactly right compared to your neck. If you find a good deal on an '80s Gibson that came from the factory with a Kahler, grab it. They were never hugely popular, but now a handful of people like me will pay very good prices for them.

I love my Kahlers....They are far more "playable" than my Floyd Rose originals. And the Gotoh 1960 is the best kept secret in the market today...A full on steel/brass locking trem half the price of an original Floyd???

I knew you would say that. There was a Hellraiser with a Sophia installed listed on Reverb for the longest time that I really wanted. But I never bought it haha!

The Kahler terms are incredible, I have a couple of hybrids and a 2300 from the 80’s that’s still going strong. They have some quirks that are unique to them, but make up for it by being so smooth to manipulate, plus they have a ridiculous pull up range that will really test the durability of your stings (I would recommend reinforced windings, like EB paradigm/titanium series, or soldering the ball ends) and way to many other cool features to mention here. Still love Floyd Rose too, and having both really covers all bases for me.

I just removed an Ibanez edge trem and changed it to Gotoh. It's so much better and stays in turn. I also had a Sophia which was nice but overpriced and the string tentioner wheel was basically worthless when tuned low (Far too Tight without tools). I also love my "KAY" Kahler term on my 86' Soloist. Works great and is soft and smooth. Also, the D-Tuna is crap once you tune to D or lower. You would need a pliers to disengage it. Cool if you're in E but B ,... Fuck NO! Besides trem systems one of my favorite bridges of all time is from Gebralter! But I guess we are not talking about Non trem bridges

Long A on Kahler. Have both a 2200 and a 2300. Work great as long as you have a well cut nut, as most clamp after the nut. Much better idea on Gibsons with a steep neck angle. Floyds are fine on Eclipses, not Les Paul’s. I replace anything that doesn’t have a recent Floyd with a FU2 bridge. Best out there if you can afford it. Otherwise, I’d stick with the Gotoh 1996. At this point, anything built in the US, Germany or Japan is going to be fine.

@@scottdunn2178 Seems like an operator error to me, as mine stay in tune just fine, and there are plenty of others who know the same thing.. and I don't have to stab someone for messing with my setup, cuz they're so much easier to work with than a Floyd style. Plus, I can drop D anytime I want, without the need for a D-Tuna, or a hex key.. and if I don't wanna use it, I turn one screw and never have to worry about pressing my hand on the strings too hard during mutes, and having notes go flat.. fight about it all you want, but when used properly, a Kahler is everything a Floyd is, but without the hassles..
