Always negotiate your salary even if it's your first ever offer. HR expects you to do it and makes an offer accordingly. It's even a bad look if you take their offer right away.

Thank you for making this, I think I'm halfway into this but stopped due to burning out by overgrinding. I have a website I made hosted on my own AWS account, have a few projects. Some simple, a couple unfinished, and one Undertale battle clone that I would like to go back to. Once I hit the REACT portion my brain just noped out. Thing is I don't work in code every day, so I have to put comments in my snippets to remind myself why I did that. Thing is I'm bad at coding interviews. Bombed one since I forgot how to make a string spell out a sentence backwards and only five characters wide. Another were some strange math algorithms. This wasn't a MANGA company, just some healthcare application company I applied for.

The problem of tech is companies hire very clever people and if you're not good then you're going to suffer terribly and be overworked. A senior engineer can complete the same task in 1/3 - 1/2 of the time it would take for an associate engineer, not to even mention code quality. The difference between people who know the code base can be even larger. Working remotely is becoming more frequent which makes it even more difficult for beginners as they can't easily ask for help and it's more complicated to help them grow.

Hey Aaron do you think that the programmer has to be able to do every single thing that's gonna be applied in projects to pass the interview ? Thanks

I have been trying to get a junior position for 1.5 years. I simply cant imagine how to stand out from 1000-1500 applicants for a single position. I guess I am off to mechanical labour.

What if I'm Mexican? I have fluence on English, and i have about 1 year and 4 months of experience, can i get a job from USA with that salary? Working remotely? Or have I to move to USA? I don't have a portfolio yet, but I'm on it!

I’m not a programmer, but with the right skills, you can get a job in any country in the world. The same salary though, this is not always applicable. They will try to underpay you, but they will still most probably pay you better than in your own country.

i reached the 100k+ salary mark last year, without sounding like a jackass, i'd like to get to at least 400k yearly, can a video be done to explain those steps? FYI: im already pushing the envelope on some other aspects of my career/business but i'd love to get a few more pointers to reach that near half a mil mark. Thanks

i think the usa is completely overpaying software devs. compared to other jobs like a plumpber or something else its just a joke, if you are doing dev for under 3-4 years you are not rly usefull at all. try to get 100k in germany :) you rly need at least 15 years of experience and you have to be rly good.
