I do post workout protein shake- it’s two fold, adds more water/fluid & protein!
@markl459310 ай бұрын
1) stay hydrated during your workout without getting bloated. Water afterwards is unnecessary. 2) there’s really no anabolic window after a workout. Protein is used to rebuild muscles during sleep so get a dose of carbs and protein before bed. 3) alcohol bonds to androgen receptors and blocks test bonding. Don’t drink alcohol period. 4) agree - sleep is when you build muscle - the more sleep with fuel (nutrition), the better.

Doesn't the flavored water have fake sugars in it? I try to avoid fake sugars like the plague. My dad was a diabetic and he was addicted to diet drinks and anything that had fake sweeteners in it. He and my mom both. I think (my opinion) that aspertame is more addictive than corn sweeteners used in most soft drinks. Water is the way to go, if I want a little sweetness in it, I squeeze a little lemon or orange into it, and put a slice in the water. I was addicted to Mountain Dew most of my life,this is just one way I get over my cravings for it, lol. Thanks for all you do Mark!

Thank you for the great tips!!! The last one I think is slightly skewed because I’ve read that our bodies have rhythms that we should listen to. If someone is a “morning rise” and if someone else is a “night owl”, neither one is necessarily right or wrong, but that’s how their bodies rhythm functions. But I think the main point to take away was to get full rest. Thanks again for all of your help.

My only issue with buying that bottled water is creating more plastic that will probably end up in a landfill. Instead, I add powder with electrolytes to regular water. No sugar and it also makes your water taste great!

I turn 63 next month, I workout at least an hour 6 days a week. I have found over the last 10 years it’s been much easier year after year to reduce my alcohol consumption to the point even 1 or 2 drinks a month will make me feel sick right after. My tolerance is very low for any alcohol at this point. Never been a big drinker to start, the only thing I really miss is a good bottle of wine with an exceptional meal. But even now I avoid because how bad even one drink makes me feel.

Mark great video!! Thanks so much for addressing the question of when to eat after a workout and whether you’re trying to build muscle or lose fat. I’m trying to lose fat and doing a time restricted intermittent fasting of 16/8. So my last meal is dinner at 6 PM and the next time I eat will be a protein shake at around 10 or 11 o’clock the next morning. While my workouts are usually about 8:30 in the morning.

I’m 52 and I’ve found that recovery is sped up by limiting my weight training to just 4 exercises and four sets four or five days per week. I don’t do the same muscle groups back to back, but could do leg exercises on day one and day three for example. I’ve also found supplementing with whey protein helps to provide the fuel to regrow muscle . Using creatine helps to keep strengthen energy levels higher than average. In the last year and a half have been using 10g L-glutamine every day magically helps with recovery. Somehow, by not trying to build Rome in a day like I did in my 30s and 40s has helped me to be overall in better shape in my 50s!

re: water -- or make your own, even better. This is how to use cleaned rinds of lemons or roanges in the house, cucmber skins are super, apple skins or cores, same for pears, or a cherry. You only need a bit to flavour a quart.. Just throw them in, or a bit of ginger root, especially if you remeber the night before, but fine if not...and that tastes great. And you aren't getting your water from plastic bottles that have been sitting in uncool places ( pun intended --heat release the plastic into the water...) for who knows how long. Better to save the pennies and put them into a top notch water purifier and a spritz machine that adds the bubbles.. I wanted to do a shout out here for the system. My delicious Tuscan man has started a week ago, and he loves it. Already naturally strong ( yup there too..) going on 69, it was time to make that concious care, so we have decades more together ahead of us of good cooking...et al. ( no his name's not Al LOL ; ) means " and so forth" ). And the intelligence of the system for building the body I appreciate as an ex ballet dancer, and fencer. Bravo! And thank you.
