I actually never heard of this myself though I've been through the ringer of PvP quite a bit, but the moment you started talking about cover I instantly knew what you meant as it's how I play In any fps PvP game ever. Even though I'm a hunter that many would recommend and say I should be flying around, I like sticking to my cover on the ground and zap those in the air instead. I actually get myself killed more often jumping around than not! It really effective, having done Trails for the first time last week, AND got first flawless with the new trials update by simply doing what I was familiar with. Great guide!

A must watch if your looking to up your KDA and overall value to your fireteam. Plus your enjoyment of D2 pvp. This is great advice. A legit tip to keep in mind that isn't overly complicated. No skill gap to clear. Just being a bit more aware of your surroundings and the cover they can provide. I am very bad about breaking this rule. This video will definitely be in the mist of brain matter above my guardians corpse. Next time I'm picked in open area. I like how you bring up its necessary at times to play loose and not make rules sacred. Also learning the rules to know the best ways/times to break them. Some angles you provide explain my absolute astonishment/rage with some shots that opposing guardians have hit. This brings up the next topic to broach. Map awareness! Subscribed!

I'm a Destiny 2 scrub who almost never does Crucible. I suck at it, I agitate extremely easily, and I always seem to just die instantly. Asking of PvP tips has never been helpful, because I often get build advice like "Try running this more meta weapon" or "Build more Recovery" that would surely help if I were trying to push for Trials completion or something, but not when I'm some guy who's just trying to have a bit of fun completing his bounties without getting curbstomped every game. And then I randomly get reccomended this well-written, well-made, and immediately informative video on practical advice that I can immediately apply. I feel like I've learned more from this video than most PvP advice lumped together.

Awesome video man! A tip I learned from battlefield that will work hand in hand with this is remembering that the closest player to the corner dies first, it's a similar concept to the 40 60 rule but goes off you being so close to a wall that your arm is sticking out, or the end of your gun is sticking out so enemies can see you but you can only see the wall. So you aim to have the cover in front of you but you aren't completely hugging the edge of it. Bad explanation but it's good to be conscious of it
@craiggant13 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this informative video! I have seen a significant boost to my survivability, which is reflected in my k/d, almost instantly! Great video to watch. In the past I would have said to myself “don’t find yourself in open spaces”, and the 40-60 is a nice systematic way to state what that means. I enjoyed the portion about having the cover on the right of your screen, as I didn’t know about that aspect. Also, I’d argue that this truly applies to PVE as well, but Destiny players tend to disregard cover most of the time because most of the content is too easy. And that’s why they tend to be slaughtered by enemies like cabal turrets, shriekers and ogres a lot of the time. (I am tired of seeing people die to the turrets in Gambit.) These are enemies are extremely dangerous if they catch you on the open field. I also find myself benefitting from what I learned in PVP all the time when I’m playing endgame content like GM’s, where cover is also essential.

This works out in strikes, raids, and closed spaces if you have enough time to read the room as you run in, knowing where you can jump and how to get through those pesky window spaces quickly to get some cover by dropping left or right (whichever has enough cover for the situation) and regain health

I’ve been unknowingly doing this for a while. A good tactic to add to this (not sure of the actual name) is angle sweeping. I mostly use this in trials but if you find red on your radar but can’t see the opponent in a lane I’ll hug the angle of the cover I currently have and rotate until I see the enemy. If they get the jump on me I already have immediate cover to readjust and engage. You’ll see him do it a few times in this video.

Goldeneye was my first FPS and Halo was my first foray into FPS games online. I didn't immerse myself completely into the genre until I got MW2 for PS3. Like most players, I've always had that crazy game that I could never repeat and that's probably because I was focusing on hitting all of my shots. Instead, I should've been applying the 40/60 rule so people could feed me the nuke rather than chasing after one in the case of MW2. This is a great idea that I'm going to make sure to practice in ALL of my shooters.

This is helpful and something I need to work on. I do really well in 1v1 engagements but I can see now how I can improve my 1v2+ engagements. Usually when it's 1v2 or more I try to dish out as much damage as possible before dying and hope my teammates just finish off whoever is left. Using these tips hopefully I can start winning more of those engagements. Though I just got Dead Man's Tale last night and after playing Iron Banner today it made me feel like I don't even need to take cover. Lol. Now I see why everyone in Trials is using it. This is my first time seeing this channel and obviously Shadow is a very good player regardless. Watching the gameplay though is very eye opening to how strong the aim assist is for controller players. I am aware of how the bullet curve, aim assist, etc works in game for everyone but you can still clearly see the difference when watching a controller player.
