Fun Fact: The scene where Andy has his chest hair removed required five cameras set up for the shot. Steve Carell's chest hair was actually ripped out in the scene. Steve Carell had told director Judd Apatow just before shooting the scene, "It has to be real. It won't be as funny if it's mocked up, or if it's special effect. You have to see that this is really happening." For obvious reasons, the scene had to be done in one shot. Steve Carell's then eighty-year-old parents went to see the film, much to his embarrassment. Also, the entire "You Know How I Know You're Gay" scene was improvised by Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen.

When I saw this movie after high school for the first time it really spoke to me how realistic it is with going after girls. How like some guys will just go for any girl they find attractive whereas I saw myself in Andy in that he didn't change what he was into and just waited for the right girl to come along

Agreed but I will say though that there's a line between being proactively patient vs outright giving up entirely. Andy was at a point where he largely had no motivation to better himself in any way and had accepted his lot in life. As much as the lifestyle those guys were trying to push him into wasn't what he wanted, he needed that push from them in order to change and open his eyes to what was best for him.

to answer your question, if you're wearing full length trousers with a relatively loose bottom while riding a bicycle there's a non zero chance of the hem getting cough in the chain and even if it doesn't catch, just lightly touching the side of the chain means your pants now have a grease stain, one of the most common solutions is to tuck the hem of your right leg into the sock while riding

What you guys were saying about Trish being impulsive, she met Andy & they had a connection so she gave him her number, wanting to change their date from the weekend to later that night, yes it can be seen as impulsive but as you learn more about her life her actions actually make a lot of sense. She has an ex-husband she has kids she has a full time job, she's a single mom that knows who she is & what she wants in life & doesn't have the time to sit around playing games with guys who might not even be worth it.

The last few minutes/singing indeed was hard to understand if you do not know the context to it. The 60s generation was known as the flower generation and its suppose to be the decade when people were "liberated" from tradition -- sex was prevalent and permitted by the hippie movement: "make love, not war." In short, it was generally regarded as an age of sexual awakening. That song, 'Age of Aquarius' is generally regarded as the theme song of that generation. Him singing to that song and dancing like a hippie is how you would visualize that sexual awakening that happened for him.

My takeaway from the movie had little to do with romantic relationships or trying to score women, honestly... many miss that his relationship with the guys at the electronics store was something Andy had never experienced before. And while it is true that at first they looked at him as a joke, then a mascot, then a project, the four drew closer together and grew to care for one another. A sweet and unexpected side to a legitimately crass comedy.

On a bike ya gotta either tuck the pants into your socks or pull them up. If you leave them they will get blown right into the chain rings as you pedal and then you can't pedal. If you pedal in reverse they'll come out covered in grease and dirt at best. Dirty and ripped at worst. Very hard to hide too so you learn fast to avoid the situation entirely.

Fun fact, he actually was that hairy. And that was him getting waxed for real. He actually bled when they did that. It wasn't done just for the movie. That was his actual blood.

Those collectibles would be worth so much more now. Funny that half of the MCU Avengers are mentioned.

The waxing-the-nipple scene got Steve Carrell actually hurt, cause the actress claimed to have experience in waxxing which she clearly hadn't. They had to stop after one take. The hair is real ;-)

The ending musical scene is from the musical "Hair", about a bunch of free love hippies in the 60s.

The late, great Garry Shandling, whom Judd Apatow worked for before, got a copy of the script for advice, and told Judd, "You've been building to Andy losing his virginity, it can't just happen. You need to express it as a big thing." Hence, Andy starts to sing "Age of Aquarius" and having the entire cast in the park dancing as the ending.
