I’d rather not be manipulative. But authentic and at times vulnerable. Have boundaries and be assertive.

Long awaited. Robert Greene is a versatile author with absolute thought clarity. This is a fantastic book written two decades ago, this is one of the management books that one needs to read whether they practice what's said in the book or not.

Excellent video. You seem to have gotten to the essence of the 48 laws. I would add a fourth primary law: Everything is judged by its your appearance; learn to see through appearances of others. Greene continuously speaks of how appearances are deceiving but mostly what we use to make decisions and judgements. Quotes: "So we prefer to ignore this fact, and to judge people on their appearances, on what is most visible to our eyes-clothes, gestures, words, actions." "Everything is judged by its appearance; what is unseen counts for nothing." "Having the appearance of specialized knowledge and skill gives you leeway in your ability to deceive those above you into thinking they cannot do without you." "Second, never trust appearances. Anyone with a serpent’s heart can use a show of kindness to cloak it; a person who is blustery on the outside is often really a coward." "Learn to see through appearances and their contradictions. Never trust the version that people give of themselves-it is utterly unreliable.", "Since power depends greatly on appearances, you must learn the tricks that will enhance your image.", "In matters of smarts as in most things, appearances are what count. If you seem to have authority and knowledge, people will believe what you say." "They are magicians of appearance, knowing that most things at court are judged by how they seem." "power depends on appearances" and dozen others. With almost every law, Greene reminds us that Power comes from the appearance we present to others and not trusting the appearances that are presented to us.

Many thanks, Nathan! I must admit that this time I don't much agree with the ideas in the video. It could well be the book itself, or the summary and the need to condense 48 laws into only 3 points and a 7 minutes video. Whichever it is, I appreciate and am grateful for your effort.

It’s another time of the year. One need to set goals and take a bold step in achieving them. Remember success are not obtained overnight. It’s comes in installments; you get a little bit today a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out the day you procrastinate you lose that day of success.

I don’t know if you need to hear this but from my own point of view, you need to invest smartly, if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $505k in raw profits from just q4 of the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy. mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

Normal people buy in at high prices the stock market goes down, companies buy stocks back cheaper by introducing some "disaster" Stock rises after a disaster and the cycle repeats.. Having a good entry and exit strategy, will make succeed in the stock market.

@Katie McQueen By following trades do you mean copying her trades, as is done in etoro? Are you giving her your money or the money stays in your account? I have heard about copying trades but have not looked into it but i have an idea of what it is.

Also one power law I disagree with is saying as little as possible, I know someone who does this and honestly they’re the least trustable person in the entire room and unsurprisingly are low performer. I am pretty damn sure this person is following Greene’s book to a T.

@Slava-om1sz2 жыл бұрын
I generally like what Robert Greene has to say in his books, but this here is a nasty one. The video polishes the edges, but the core message of 48 Laws of Power is to create a perception of a power position. A cover to cover series of lessons on how to kiss ass, deceive, manipulate and trick others, while not covering the actual power (leverage, skills, value, strategy, knowledge, strength...) and processes that build up power in the long term (experience, research, building relationships, creating and giving away value, securing strategic positions and so on). Of course, there is a fan base to be found for each perspective, but it's hard to wrap my head around a book that claims that putting up a facade is the way to create power. It's like saying that the way to build value is by creating a pyramid scheme and fooling friends into believing that your product is valuable. Right...
@CalicoCooperFan2 жыл бұрын
Interesting insights. Even if that isn't the game you want to play (manipulation, etc..), others may be playing that game. Isn't there value in learning about the game others are playing so that you can recognize it and learn how to deal with it? This may be a "manual" for understanding those around you and the games they are playing.
@Slava-om1sz2 жыл бұрын
@@CalicoCooperFan Yes, it can be a source of insights on how to deal with deceptive people. In my opinion the book does not deserve it's title and should carry a title like '48 ways to be a fraud'. A truly powerful person does not struggle with surfacing deception. If you live a life putting loads of effort into creating value, strategising and growing skills, you have already found out what works and what doesn't a thousand times. Power becomes extremely transparent you can smell a power position deception from a mile, by simply observing the lack of depth in the answers, continuously generated results , choices, actions and goals. A powerful person is always knowledge hungry, so the book can still be a good read. but it is not needed to spot Trumps of this world.
