Yes - there really must be a lot of effort here - hundreds and hundreds of hours. He just breaks it up into pieces and then shows us that we can do the same. If someone that knows him and hasn't thought about sending his name off to the Palace for an OBE then I think you need to look in the mirror and get on with it. - Actually maybe they already did that and we don't know !! TGMT OBE !!

In 22:23 why couldn’t you have halved “-2x^2) or “-10” because usually it works for normal numbers (E.g “1/2•4•6=12” like halving 4 to get 2 “2•6=12”. I understand why it’s not correct because we have to show “2x^2-21x+40” but if that wasn’t given I wouldn’t have got that particular quadratic. Could you explain why we can’t half one of the numbers because I want to understand how to work it out without having the answer shown.

You often don't choose the easiest method. Eg in the first one, why not square root both sides first to find the 2 critical values?
@TheGCSEMathsTutor
@TheGCSEMathsTutor 2 жыл бұрын
Because they process wouldn’t work for 95% of other questions with quadratic inequalities involved and also requires the student to remember to keep the +/- symbol in-front of the square root to get the correct inequalities in the solution. The methods I use are selected after trialling with many many students across different abilities to suit the majority! If you have another method though I would always encourage you to use it 😁🙏🏼

Completely agree with you and if you are happy using that method then go for it! The only issue is that it’s a very unique question and that method doesn’t help with the vast majority of quadratic inequality exam questions, hence why I used the “normal” process, love that you spotted it though!! 😁🙏🏼
