I really like the comp footage reference. It adds credibility to the technique given there is so much rubbish out there. Please keep that up. Also would love to see more in detailed comp break downs from you. Keep up the great work. You’ve quickly become my favourite online resource.

Thank you for this. Do you happen to know of anyone who plays a lot of overhook closed guard? That has been my go-to for quite a while now, but i don't know anyone who plays it so I am figuring it out as I go. The little pointer about pummeling under the forearm to get to the bicep and then back to the wrist was an awesome tip for my game.

Hi Jon, love your stuff per usual! Can you make a video on aggressiveness and mind set when training? When do you go full aggro vs more laid back to work new techniques, etc? Do you have a balance you like? As a 3 day a week hobbyist trying to keep pace with folks that train more frequently, I catch myself being lax or sometimes feeling bad/guilty when I go 90-100% while rolling (especially lower belts). Your thoughts are appreciated!

Hi Jon, thank you for the video. Triangle is one of my favorite submissions :) At the end of the video, you asked if there are any topics your viewers would like you to discuss. May I suggest inverted triangles? I can never submit my opponents/partners with it... I usually just hold it until the time runs out.

I love triangles, but I believe you should have a disclaimer that flying triangle is potentially dangerous, especially in competitions when everyone is way more tense. Lots of things could go wrong from bad fall to knee injury for your partner, so I'd reserve it for more experienced bjj practitioners and only after alot of practice. Don't be a rowdy white belt and try to pull flying triangles! You or your opponent can get hurt easily.
@JonThomasBJJ3 жыл бұрын
Yeah people should definitely be careful, I used it as a white belt as well, so I don’t think it’s necessarily that dangerous, but of course me smart using it.
@Hairy_Coo3 жыл бұрын
@@JonThomasBJJ well you seem like a very athletic type and you may have had better control over your nerves when you started. Lots of white belts I roll with are like bulls in china shop till they get closer to blue. IMHO this is not the move to yolo without good practice and control over your (and your opponents) body. Love your other triangles setup tips though. My personal favorite is a same side grip with opposite shoulder control. It's fairly simple to setup and actually tricky to defend even when you see it coming because of a pressure you can put on setting it up.
