I've been struggling with porn addiction for years. I've been trying to mitigate it by deleting all my porn, putting parental controls on all my devices basically removing the problem from my life. But I'm not feeling any better and I still have cravings. This video brought up some good points I need to work on. My core beliefs are that I feel like I can't and will never be in a relationship. I guess I'm gonna have to work on that first if I want to get anywhere.

fieryelf I really identify with your struggle. I have a highly addictive personality. All addictions go back to our core wounds in childhood. I’ve made a lot of progress with doing work on healing my inner child. Literally talking to her and comforting her and validating her. I highly recommend it. Healing the Inner Child is a good book to start with. I think porn addiction is really a fear of intimacy. A fear of being deeply known by another person. Also, porn really does rewire our brains so cutting yourself off it completely is a good idea. My friend’s husband has been struggling with porn addiction for decades, so I know how insurmountable it seems. Have you watched that movie Don Juan with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Julianne Moore? Also, I think it’s really important to embrace our shadow self in order to beat these things. Love the things that you’re ashamed of. We’re all human and wacky. All the best of luck to you.

On top of what Nun Ya said, I could also recommend seekingintegrity.com (unrelated to this channel). They have free online drop-in groups that might be of interest to you and other webinars that I think complement well what was said in this video. And if you can access therapy, definitely take advantage of that. I've seen how psychotherapy can help people dealing with porn addiction, even if it takes time, effort and discomfort. You seem to be on the right path. Keep up the good work.

Consider seeing a CSAT. Certified Sex Addiction therapist. Or any therapist that works with childhood trauma. What you are doing is great but it is not getting at the core issue. Trust me you core issues can be fixed and your life will be much, much better.

I feel like im being understood for the first time in 62 years. I've understood the that the way i was raised damaged me but now i have a new understanding of my core beliefs and how they still effect me. Raising my own kids kept me busy enough to avoid my damaging core beliefs. But since they've all grown and not needed their mom anymore I've been really flaying. These talks are really helping me. This is very insightful! I've had issues with food from a very young age, and I've tried to get help through an eating disorder specialist and dietician recently, as well as a variety of therapists with limited success. This video gave more information than any of those sessions ever did. I often wondered if there was an addiction element to it, and now I'm sure it does. Although I try to be a positive person generally, I recognise that I'm mentally and physically worn down by my battles with food and the thoughts in my mind. At least I now have some ideas on how to rebuild my mental resilience. The guilt and shame therapy hits a real nerve for me because I was raised around Christians and the Church, and I found religion restrictive and not freeing in the slightest, and rejected it as soon as I left home. I reject any organisation that uses guilt and shame tactics to control people.

7:26 This is a VERY good question that I've been wanting to know the answer to for a long time. Every time I try to express to someone that I suffer from social anxiety, they roll their eyes at me and say "Everyone gets bullied, get over it. I did." or comparing their circumstances in life to mine and saying "If I had it worse than you, why am I not the one with social anxiety?" As if I were trying to use it as an excuse to be afraid of things in my life.

xBwahx I’m so sorry you’ve had those experiences with others. Basically, they were the bullies for not allowing you to speak. And by saying that they “got over it” sounds like they actually don’t understand what you’re feeling and obviously don’t have much empathy, if any. Please stay strong and just keep on going. I will think of you and send you much Love & Light. Love and success from your friend in NYC ☮️💚💪🏼🌻💚💪🏼☮️

A few months before my Mom died she made the comment "I tried to love you" and then she realized what she had said and kind of got a surprised look on her face like she couldn't believe she said that out loud. I just looked at her and told her "I know mom" I seriously don't think I have ever been loved. I grew up with 2 narcissistic parents where it was both physical and emotionally abusive. When my mom died my whole family turned on me. I hate life I will be glad when its over. Oh and I have to admit I use drugs. Gee I wonder why.

Distress doesn't just create craving, there's an actual need to escape pain. Just as if you stub a toe really hard, at the moment of the height of the pain, you only have 1 thing in mind: you want the pain to stop. You don't crave the ice that will relieve the pain, you need the relief it brings. Addiction stems from a lack of connection as well. It's the repetitive reach for momentary relief because there's no other obvious escape or solution. The longer the addiction, the less we see a way out. If you know pain is returning, you'll want to numb it before it can arrive, hence escaping on a regular basis. If there's a person we can connect with in trust to share the reason for the pain and find them as an ally to find another way or solution that will get us out of the cycle; then there's a chance of facing the issue and working it through. Whether it's physical or emotional pain, I don't know anyone who craves relief. They usually need it,whatever is represented as such. If the trusted individual is like them in pain, they become buddies in addiction, such as drinking buddies. If the trusted person is qualified to help, then it's therapy.

This explains what I've said about addiction and Americas obscured and flawed understanding of it and how to treat it. But then again most dont wanna look within reflecting resolving accepting and improving which is costly both $$ wise and time compared to transferring one addiction for another or going to avoidance by another distraction

Frances Bernard here. Isn't it possible after 6 months of not having a good time at work each and every day there while killing sheep at a slaughterhouse or whatever that the belief, "I am not having any good days [here]" -- Is not a core belief? Wouldn't offering help to find an affordable safe place to rent like offering career counselling first be a better idea than looking for excuses to prescribe small amounts of toxic substances that will hurry up the addiction process instead of arresting it?

The 5 Steps to any addiction (be it substance or process)... 1 Narcissistic Personality Disorder 2 Borderline Personality Disorder (especially binge drinking) 3 Antisocial Personality Disorder (excluding Factor 1 psychopaths who lack the neural capacity of ever becoming addicted) 4 bipolar disorder 5 untreated/ineffectively treated PTSD/C-PTSD (although not everyone with PTSD turns to alcohol/drugs/sex/gambling to numb out) ....and when they go into AA and get "sober" they are still incredibly messed up and just at the very beginning of learning how to become a less narcissistic person and begin to think of someone else besides themselves. I'm not sure they can ever develop genuine empathy for others, but they may be able to develop cognitive empathy.
