The £500 Car Nurburgring Challenge

After a long and productive show season Greenlight Insurance sales team Will and Adam decided they needed to have a bit of well deserved fun. After getting the OK from the Greenlight Insurance powers that be they decide to do a Top Gear style challenge.
The Rules;
- £500 to spend on a car
- £200 to modify the car
- Drive to the Nurburgring in your chosen car, do a lap each and return with a few challenges along the way.
But of course we could not do this task alone.. so we brought in some KZbin muscle and decided to give our good friends and customers @itsleelockwood and @b7tmy a phone call, to see if they were down, and of course... they were down.

It was all filmed in one weekend other than the car collections which was two weeks before for the Saxo and Hyundai, the Saxo was 4 days before filming. All filmed in September 2019

A brilliant watch. One of my garaged track cars is a Saxo VTR lol... I'm having a year off cars atm, but this vid has made me want to drag my VTR out now. Though having a year off was not a bad choice in hindsight with the current events of Covid-19! Keep safe all!

@@itsleelockwood guarantee that leak on the passenger side was the inside driveshaft seal, and the gearbox oil was seeping out. I had to put about 4-5 on my old saxos

Great video I can't believe what happened to the Saxo there, as Lee said you're very lucky it didn't happen when travelling on the unrestricted autobahn or on the ring, that could have ended far worse but still shame to see the car so badly damaged to a defect

Should of left the airbox on the st170 open airfilters slow them down but there's something else wrong too should of smoked the other 2

I'd buy a Jag X-Type 3.0 V6. Pretty quick, 240 bhp, Mondeo chassis for the twisties, and AWD to put it down, nevermind the comfort for the long drive down. What would you guys have bought?

We sourced a bespoke policy for the challenge on a one off basis via Lloyd's of London, perks of working in the industry and being a Lloyd's of London Cover holder having direct access to the whole market. It wasn't cheap, but as an Insurance firm you'll appreciate we wanted to make sure we were covered. The UK annual policies arranged via Greenlight cover modifications on a like for like basis and we can cover most UK track days. But we do not currently offer cover for European tracks like the Nordschleife.
