Fear not... Billy has his eyes on a bolt in rear axle for the 55. It’s due for some updates. The original 55 rear ends are terribly weak, and prone to failure at even stock power levels. The 265 never came close to what the Roller Cammed 357 makes.

Same here, it's why I had my own cars since I got my license, so if I broke it, it was mine, Dad would still shake his head and ask me if I had lost my mine but not nearly as bad as if it was his, he never drove any of mine ever, even though I've offered them for him to use when his were down for repairs.

Back in the day (20 ish years back) I remember getting towed in my 74 Camaro by the 88 Ford Mustang I had run against with two pair of jumper cables and about 30 bungee cords after I blew my engine against him. ( I won, but it cost more than the bet...by far. Spun the bearings in the modified stock 350) Cops were hot around town that night so we had to go 30 miles off into the sticks to get our grudge on. Was not about to leave my car there so we made due with what we had. Got it back home two hours later, it wasn't pretty but we did it lol. Trashed both sets of cables and most of the bungee cords in the process... not to mention half destroying the air dam on my Camaro. On the up side that was my motivation for stuffing a 454 in it and getting my first nitrous plate... whitch led to mini tubbing it to add slicks... then traction bars... then upgraded front suspension.... then cross bracing to stiffen the chassis up... and so on and so on and so on.... until i stuffed a 540 in it and ate a K barrier end on at 130mph and destroyed it after the guy I was racing ran into my rear tire at the 500 foot mark. Man... I miss that car!

You can tell Billy hasn’t been in to many cars that broke a driveshaft. Breaking a driveshaft, while in motion, is one of the scariest sounding and feeling failures one could have happen. It is an unmistakable sound when that driveshaft smacks the floorboard. Glad you guys are ok. Good luck in Indy this weekend. I believe you guys are about do for a W...if you can keep Billy from filling up the new carb with loc-tite.

I would kinda hate to see the 55 get painted because it has that cool patina that gives it so much character. I would maybe give it a gentle sanding than spray it with a satin clear coat just to preserve it.

Just maybe off of subject a bit but in your new Merchandise Warehouse you may want to look into what is called a mini split heating and ac system very inexpensive the run ,and work very well , I'm sure there is some heating and air guys on the channel that can contest to this. Just a thought. .

I'm glad to see you all got a ford engine in that 5.0 I had a 87 notch back black I used to race at Marion if it wasn't under water lol it had a de stroked 351 win a guy out of plain city built the bottom end and I had 40 thousand shaved off some dart heads and hand ported them and that was back when in about 96 97 before turbo and nos was really big I street raced it down on the west side of Columbus and hurt a lot of peoples pockets you know were the old k mart on west broad st man them were the days..
