At Seiko Headquarters: "Sir, this watch is selling in the thousands. It's a hit with collectors and enthusiasts, who see it as a great value and an irreplaceable piece in their collection." "So I assume you have already canceled production." "Oh of course! And I destroyed the existing stock." "Good, good."

Probably want the legacy to age a bit, and then in 5 years or a decade to bring it back and watch it fly off the shelves. Either that or it was competing with another product, too expensive to produce, cost cutting, just not enough margins or something.

@@islandwatch I am new to watches, and i am seeing this, and i just cannot believe it. This is just how it is? They sell out of something and that's just the end?

@@saltydog9321 unfortunately yes. It’s mostly a problem with micro brands, but even big brands sell out of stock. A lot of the time you can still find those second hand, just no more new ones.

Another great video, Marc. Quick question about the Seagull 1963 you showed during the wrist check: is that the 38mm or the 42? I'd wager the latter, but I'm pondering which one to order for myself. My 7 ½" wrist seems happier with something around the 40mm size, but I'm thinking the vintage style might work best by sticking to a size closer to the original. Thoughts? BTW, I like the NATO you have put on it; I ordered that one for my SKX007, and it looks great.

In watches' companies there are sometimes a lot of irrational decisions. A designer being replaced by another one. A Commercial Director deciding that he has to make a print of his "reign" and then suddenly, you see models "written off" the collection. That might change, but you never know then WHEN and IF it is coming back to the brand's passionate/ lovers/followers, (aficionados).
