It might be an interesting challenge to try to win the game without triggering a civil war! Keep assassinating allied generals so they lose the war maybe, and keep giving money to the enemies bordering the other roman factions, giving away excess land to keep civil war risk lower.

The senate has decided that your faction doesn't deserve any senate positions. SPQR: 1 settlement Scipii: 3 settlements Brutii: 6 settlements Julii: 35 settlements Are you sure you want to get on my bad side? Because I think it's you that doesn't deserve any senate positions. For anyone wondering I think the Scipii bugged after taking Syracuse, they never even took Lilybaeum and I beat the Brutii to most of Greece

@michaelstein75104 жыл бұрын
A lot of times, I’ve noticed that if the Scipii attack Syracuse in the first five turns and lose that battle, their campaign never seems to recover. They spend the rest of time in futility trying to conquer the rest of Sicily and never even land in Africa by the time the Roman civil war starts. The Julii and Brutii never face this problem. Even in a slow campaign start for them, they’ll have at least 20 settlements by the time the civil war starts.

Great Video. I always wondered why the Senate offices in RTW were not consistent with history. They got the first 4 right, but there were really only 4 offices in the Senate. From lowest to Highest it was Quaestor, Aedile, Praetor, Consul. Censor and Pontifex Maximus were government offices, but weren't really Senate Offices. Pontifex Maximus wasn't the highest office in the Roman senate, Consul was. Pontifex Maximus was the highest ranking religious leader in the Roman state, and it was a Lifetime office. So once you're elected Pontifex Maximus, you held that title for the rest of your life. Censor's did not out rank Consul, nor were they below Pontifex Maximus. They weren't even an Office in the Senate, but rather a government official responsible for keeping the count of the population, among other things. Consul was the Highest office in the Senate and were the Leaders of the Roman Republic. There was always 2 Consuls at a time and They were effectively Kings in all but name, the head of state and government, and were allowed to wear a purple stripe in their Robe -- a color widely regarded as the color of Royalty by the Romans.

Some tips to gain popularity: - put troops in allies territory -help allies in war. -kill rebels in allies territories -give allies presents ( money or settlements ) but your popularity with the masses may drop. In that case lower the taxes.

@archer88499 ай бұрын
Pontifex Maximus (supreme pontiff) was primarily head of all religious matters, as he was chief high priest of Rome. Was supposed to oversee most important rituals on religious days and funeral rites of important people. One famous supreme pontiff was Julius Caesar who was still persecuted by the senate for his "illegal war in Gaul" so that office didn't really protect him there. Also one could be elected consul at the same time.

It's not actually true that the game hardcodes Roman Senate unpopularity as Pleb pop is high. I have 10/10 with people, but paying tribute to Senate and completing missions has kept up a top Senate rating as high as 8/10. I never used to bother with this in game but tried to improve play, interferring with other factions, eg) Brutii enemies have had discrete subs through make gift and so on. For once I'm aquiring high offices which help manage cities

I played a game as the Brutii, I did all the Senate missions but i stayed at 1/10 popularity with the Senate for pretty much the entire game so I'm not sure that it always works to get Senate popularity by doing the missions.
@MachinegunnerMugZ5 жыл бұрын
Popularity in senate highly depends on your popularuty with the people. If your family members happened to gain a lot of traits/retinues that improve popularity with the people almost all of such traits/retinues also has a background of lowering your popularity in senate.
@itsjustdewieman4 жыл бұрын
@@MachinegunnerMugZ Also if you expand in cities without the senates bad opinion lowers their opinion. its like "yeah hes doing what we tell them but Im pretty sure its not for us its for his empire". just ask the senate what they think of a faction. Itll let you know when the line is drawn with that faction. the more they hate the enemy the less they hate you if you march in.
@AWildBard3 жыл бұрын
One thing I've noticed is the Senate favors you most if you are playing the Brutii faction. Your senate missions will help you expand into the area you want to go, so you don't really have to go out of your way to complete a mission. Second-best is the Scipii faction. And least favored is the Julii faction. If you are Julii, you will sometimes get some useful missions, but you will also get the mission to blockade Sparta (for the Brutii I guess), so you have to send your navy, if you have one close enough, a few turns away to accomplish the mission. All of the missions in the game help the beginner, so you will get missions to take small and weak rebel cities first. But taking the big cities is the real way to expand in the game.
