This was amazing to rewatch -- 1994 was the year I was diagnosed HIV+ ,I was 30 years old .At that time it was still a death sentence and I was told to get my affairs in order. Seeing Tom Hanks win for best actor was great but watching Philadelphia just reminded me my time on Earth was nearing an end. But 2 years after in 1996 the protease inhibitor drugs came out and im still here 30 years later turning 60 soon. Back then I would never have believed I'd be here 30 years later -- sadly so many were not as lucky 😢😢😢

Thank you Matt ❤ Yes I agree that your uncle and the thousands of others that were involved in the trials is what saved me --- I was offered going into trials when I was diagnosed but I chose not to because I had seen too many die quickly after being in the trials-- by tweeking the medications, sometimes they gave you too much and the patient would die-- that is how the medications that worked came about .

Interesting, I feel the Oscars now is not what it was like back then. In 2022 Oscar slap everyone was talking about the Oscar the next day. In 1994, I was only 5 years old so don't remember much about award shows.

I was there that day. I met and congratulated Steven before he seated. I was 29 and I thought that I waited 'so long all my life' to be there, then, and meeting Steven after watching the release of 'Schindler´s list' in London weeks before. Both, two of the best moments in my all life. It was incredible to be among all of them, and specially to Deborah Kerr, who named William Wyler in first place on stage. Wyler was the reason I became Film Historian and Filmmaker as well. I will not forget Steven´s eyes thanking me in the moment I said to him finally: ''Good luck, Steven.' jcf.

I did Glenns wigs for Sunset Blvd when she was on Broadway at the Minskoff. She's SUCH a dedicated actress. I remember one night she was walking down the steps which were very steep, in a big dress that had a train and it got stuck on the steps. She couldnt move. She never broke character and she just stood there reciting her lines and just waiting for someone to un hook her. A stage hand saved the day.

I got correct the majority of the categories but best supporting actress, nobody thought Anna Pequín’s win would happen. I got the letter one day before my birthday. The prize was a 7 day luxury cruise for 2 persons from NYC to the Bermuda Islands and it was an amazing experience, I was only 27 years old and I took my mother with me.

@@jj-if6it Yes his music was a big part of the film and without it it wouldn't have been nearly as good. The academy definitely stuffed up on this one.

Lo mismo pienso, un genio de la música, la banda sonora de la película El Piano simplemente fue épica, faltó esa nominacion, quedará para la historia.

Schindler's List is a lifetime achievement movie ever! Cant believe Ralph Fiennes didn't get nominated in actor in supporting role. He is superb in this amazing film. Btw, oscars ceremony before are amazing.

He did get nominated. He lost to Tommy Lee Jones. Nobody knew him at that point. Al Gore was running for President. He was Tommy Lee's college roommate at Harvard. Tommy Lee stole the spotlight from Harrison Ford. Everything was going his way that year.

That’s when the Oscars were great back then. Today it’s rubbish. I don’t even bother to watch anymore. Not the same without Billy Chrystal. 😢He was simply the best.

23:57 to watch the Jurassic Park theme being played through the Oscars stage as the winners made their way there is simply major 👍 1:27:20 I like the way Oscars combined jazz and ballet to perform a choreographic composition on the theme of the Firm 1:31:47 they performed the dance to the music of The Fugitive so brilliantly as dark as the tone of the thriller
