I am a former Army Paratrooper and Airborne Ranger and served for 8 years total with 3 of those years in Republic of Viet Nam. Corcorans were brown during WWII and changed to black color sometime in the mid to late 1950's. I served in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1966 - 1968 and in those 2 years had only 2 pair of Corcorans; 1 pair for my dress greens and another pair for BDU use. Since we ran 5 miles before breakfast in those days, I had the sole built up and the heel remaining allowing me to run backwards while calling cadance. We spit shined our boots daily and thus the leather became soft and supple after several applications of Lincoln paste polish. By observation of the Corcoran knock offs, I immediately note the stitching difference and the eyelet difference. These are to me, a cheap Chinese kock-off. Cheers, Dr. Don R. Lahti

Instead, I got some Thursdays and ended up buying 5 more pairs lol. I would still buy the Ariat bison boot though if they brought it back. They pretty much only have western style stuff now which is ok. I do have a few pairs of those. The Booker Ultra Western boot is a nice ok boot. That is my go-to boot for when i need to slip something on quick or wear around the house. The highland boot seemed like a good boot, so I am not sure why they stopped selling it. And by the way, the Thursday LOGGER boot now has a thicker heel cap with a Thursday brand outsole. I bet too many people, myself included, were complaining about the heel cap being so thin. I had to take mine to the cobbler to fix that issue.

Regarding Thursday Boots, I purchased a pair of Captain Boots precisely a month ago and have been quite impressed, to be honest. Before wearing them, I used Black Rock to moisturize them, polished them with Tarrago She Cream, and broke them in without much effort or discomfort with the $200.00 price. Hence, it is a good value, and I have read several reviews before making the purchase, and they communicate the same. I have the Beckett Siminon Dowler and like them quite a lot for the price. They are very soft yet rigid. No break in period at all and look surprisingly sharp for how low the cost is. I also have the Keen Ridge Flex in black and grey (wearing them now). They are extremely comfortable and versatile. They almost wear more like a sneaker. The tread has held up well, but the construction isn't the cleanest. There are some sloppy glue spots, loose, uneven stiching, but they've held together pretty well for a cement construction. The rubber Keen bellows flex panel on the top of the foot is a complete gimmick. It adds flexibility but the rubber split after like the third or fourth wear. That compromised the water proofing obviously. Overall not impressed for a Keen that's over $200. But I still like the brand.

I’m from Ingerland. Luv me football, ‘ate me wife, luv me boots, luv norf fc, ‘ate moi-grants. On a serious note, the decline (and subsequent possible resurgence?) of British industrialism is depressing. We literally invented the Industrial Revolution, and now everything’s made in China. I would reccomend visiting England before the temperatures soar in the summers. The verdant green of the fields and trees is unlike anywhere else in the world - it’s something to do with the weather and soil that makes plants here so beautifully rich in their freeness, almost psychedelic. Last summer I remember flying home, and instead of the verdant fields of the true Emerald Isle, they were all burnt brown and dead. I nearly cried on the plane. We also have a tonne of windmills now, and you can kick a ball at the windmill and it’ll go up really high. Any of the cities are nice to visit and exceptionally safe - London being the safest large city in the western hemisphere. Things you hear about knife crime are bollocks - the U.K. has a knife murder population adjusted rate of 2.6/100k. The USA has 4.96/100k. The US also has a 12x higher overall murder rate compared to the U.K. Not pissing on the US here, I’m a citizen - I’m just dispelling myths spread by certain idiots on the internet. There is literally no city in the west safer than London - there’s a big difference between that and places like Paris where there are hordes of homeless scamming you. Anyway, you should visit I’d be happy to show someone the land.

I would add Allen Edmond’s “Park City” boot as an honorable mention. Comes in Horween and Stead leather, Vibram gloxi-cut outsole, thick leather midsole and their APL last is great.

I thought the same thing. I’ve had the park city for a while and it’s a fantastic boot. Never really seen any mention or review of it. $250 on Black Friday tough to beat

Hahaha just literally said the same thing in my comment, and I got them for Black Friday too.

I ordered a pair simply b/c it’s the only cap toe boot I see online with a vibram gloxi sole.

I have the Converses I bought them online not in flesh before knowing your channel, because I saw some doing this transforming a canvas sneaker into a boot. Unfortunately Converse did a very bad "copy" of the good work from the cobblers, I saw it just after unboxing them. So I hope I could resell them to someone who did not watch your channel 😛 or I will abuse them during this summer instead of wearing my usual rotation sneakers.

I was hoping to see the Wolverine 1000 mile cap toe classic boot. I have learned so much watching your channel, thanks!

Since we are on the subject of toe caps, could there be in the future, maybe, a video on Iron Ranger sizing like you did for the moc toes...?

Allen Edmonds Normandy would be good boot to cut in half but I don’t think they make them anymore. And as always awesome job on the video 🙌🙌🙌🙌

Love what I learn in your videos. Thanks! Would very much like to get more info on Truman boots. They seem to use great leather, and overall quality appears top notch. My guess is they would wind up ranking somewhere between Nicks and Red Wings? Maybe they're Nick's quality just not the design and style of a rugged work boot?

Great video. Would love to see a best boot for wide feet list.

Truman, Parkhurst, Meermin, viberg, whites, Grant Stone. All have great Cap toe or Jumper Boots

I love my Iron Rangers as well, but I have been wearing Parkhurst about as much as the Red Wings. I would be interested to see Parkhurst rated.

OP should please try to review the Chinese manufacturer, Iron Boots. They seem to be doing very good work.

nice. 10 years ago I bought my iron rangers after they built a store in Alberta and after wearing the work boots I was sold and I'm still very happy with the heritage line but your right if your wearing these all day and walking you will be sore, great looking boot but my new redbacks with the wide toe box have my heart even tho they look way worse imo.
