Berries Kiwi and Grapes are high in oxalates.
@cammieklund
@cammieklund 8 күн бұрын
Kiwis are very high in especially nasty needle shaped oxalate crystals and they are REALLY not helpful for your health. Check out oxalate expert Sally K Norton and her book Toxic superfoods- How oxalate overload is making you sick and how to get better. Raspberries are high aswell. So even if they have compounds in them that can help in some way the high oxalate content creates serious health issues that can take years to develop. Oxalates are very much linked to INCREASED cancer risk. Small amounts might be ok but people tend to overdo these so called superfoods. I got severely ill by a high oxalate diet from all these "healthy" foods. To the point of being bedridden and having to live on disability. I'm still dumping oxalates out of my body after 2 1/2 years on a low oxalate diet. I even got a damaged heart from it, it's really difficult to deal with all the health implications from a high oxalate diet. And with a leaky gut you'll absorb even more oxalates. It can be stored in every tissue in the body and it can take decades until you really see the damage done. It's the most insidious plant toxin there is. I wish someone told me this decades ago...But I was fooled by studies like this that talked about the benefits of these fruits and berries. I couldn't understand why I just got sicker and sicker the "healthier" I ate! I haven't eaten junk or processed foods in decades. So no matter the temporary health issues these compounds can have, it still can't compare to the damage done longer term. I know people that started to eat 2 kiwis a day and it resulted in severe insomnia from the neurotoxic effect from the oxalic acid. I'm not saying that we have to, or should, completely avoid oxalate containing foods but people need to know to make sure that they don't eat more oxalates a day than the body can process. And that threshold is really easy to go over bcs nowadays high oxalate foods are touted as health foods. Just be ware and educate yourself on this topic. The best and correct information is from Sally K Norton who studied this topic for a decade. Health influencers that claim that it's not an issue or that it's just "some" that needs to be careful when it comes to oxalates don't know what they are talking about sadly. Take care!🪷

Hi Ben, fyi New Zealanders call themselves "kiwi" and there is the precious native bird called a kiwi. The fruit is called kiwifruit. So if a New Zealander is listening to you talking about eating kiwi, they might be offended.

So we eat the peels of citrus fruits? Also, most grapes are imported which I’ve heard are a major gmo food. So we eat them anyway? I’m confused.

I am on day 3 of fasting with water and salt so far. I am poor so I can't afford the products so should I just do the fast until I lose the 109lbs? I have PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and Degenerative Disk Disease caused by arthritis but I do not trust that diagnosis from the VA, I am a veteran medic from the Army. I am 54 years old on disability and my doctors and the medications they are giving me is making me feel worse. I have had diarrhea vomiting while fasting.

Are you concerned about the oxalate content in some of these fruits? Thanks for your work.
@KetoKamp
@KetoKamp 8 күн бұрын
Yes of course that is always a concern. It really depends on the gut health of the person. I personally can do most of these fruits and feel great. Someone who is sensitive to oxalates might need to work on the gut before adding these in.

You can know by testing your blood ketones. If your blood ketones show 0.5 or higher then you’re burning fat for fuel

Just paused and read the article on tomatoes and prostate cancer. In 2007 they said probable evidence linking tomatoes to lower risk of prostate cancer. Then a it mentions latest analysis of global research found the evidence is much leas clear. The report finding that current evidence does not support a clear link between tomatoes a d lower cancer risk. So maybe you should have left this out.

I’m confused. You said to avoid spinach because it’s high in oxalates which contribute to leaky gut, but you promote kiwi fruit which is high in oxalates. If we can eat kiwi we should eat spinach.
@KetoKamp

It really depends on how healthy your gut is. If you are sensitive to oxalates because of intestinal permeability then for sure avoid them until you work on the gut, then you can experiment with introducing them to see how your body responds
