Nice little score Mike laburnum is such a pleasure to turn, I've processed a lot laburnum over the years, when left in log form it takes forever to dry because of the waxey bark, that's why i peel it off, but that's just my humble opinion, have fun turning that lot, Will😊👍

I used latex painting to seal the first pieces of green wood I was given and it worked surprisingly well! Have you ever thought about making a wood kiln? I made one out of an old oven, the kind with the curly eyes on top. It can go as low as 150f. I cut a hole on one side and attached a metal bladed box fan. And on the other side I added an exhaust with a sliding baffle. It works like a charm. I can do the first turning of a piece of totally green wood to a wall thickness of about 3/4" - 1" and put it in the kiln and do the second turning in about 2-3 days. Using a moisture meter they usually come out of the kiln around 8-10%. I don't have the patience to shelf dry wood. 🤗

Mike you might want to look into using paraffin wax to seal your would rather than wood glue. It also dries clear and it is substantially cheaper than glue. Not sure what your petrol stations use for signage but here in the US I am fortunate enough to be able to get the old signs which are sheet polystyrene which goes well on a bench to keep glue and such from mucking up your work surface, and when you're done you can usually peel the glue off or just toss the whole thing in the trash.
