My EDC is a 710. D2 w/ G10. Cost maybe $125-ish however many years ago I got it. Worth every penny. Never replaced the springs. Heck, never even adjusted the pivot. It has opened many thousands of hay bales and at least a couple hundred trout.. I can't fathom a guess as to how many packages it has opened or the number of boxes it has broken down. I've hoped for a long time they'd bring it back in to production and I'll envy the first person I see flicking this new one open. But, that's too rich for my blood.

Benchmade needs to convert all their knives to the new omega spring standard. For me personally omega springs have been a huge sore spot in benchmade ownership. I’ve broken 4. This spring is the obvious answer to this spring. If benchmade integrated it across their whole lineup it would significantly differentiate themselves from every other axis lock on the market. I doubt they do it. They launched the 710 and water line at basically the same time and one only has the new springs.

Just for perspective in 1987 pcc (pre benchmade) catalogue, a skeletonized stainless steel Bali with a Tonto blade was about $325 if you wanted titanium you were looking at over $1000

I just back into knife collecting and I'm shocked by the price increases in the past 10 years of not only Benchmade but other brands too. I remember buying griptilians for like $80 and now they're more than $180. However, since we are all here, watching videos on their products and still paying those prices, the prices and value wont get any better lol

The new 163 is a joke and has been nothing but a disappointment to fan base. The stupid ferro notch they have started to use is also equally dumb. Nobody uses their thumb on the edge. Huge downgrade to the 162. Smaller blade, dumb design changes like the fuller and clip point. And a average $400 price tag. What a joke.

Shocked Benchmades still sell, purchased a 940 before BHQ started charging tax. Wait for it og 940 green and purple $129. They are 200 now ridiculous and their qc is one of the worst big pass. So many more options especially now that everyone is doing axis locks.
