Brad last year at an E3 event in Springfield Mo I asked you how many followers you had on KZbin. At the time your answer was around 300k. Look what a year brings, approaching 500k. Congratulations, and like I told you then, you have set the benchmark for other channels. Your passion for the subject is obvious and genuine. Thank you from one of the nearly half a million.

Just like everyone has said, I’m here for you and your adventures. I could not care less about what you drive. Sure it’s great to see the new vehicles and different ones, but in the end if you never got a new vehicle I would still watch them. So thank you for putting out the amazing videos and just sharing your experiences with us.

Thank YOU for producing such incredibly authentic videos! My husband and I have come to make it a weekend tradition to watch either a new video (or older; if there isn’t a new one) while we have our breakfast. We enjoy the scenery and the way it is captured, the food - thanks Marco!- and seeing more of your and your wife spend quality time together. Thank you for letting us see that part of your life! It's a good reminder that when it's time for a vehicle to go...it's up to you and not everyone else. Back when I was a kid we had a Jeep Wagoneer (probably late 70's model with the V8, lifted. My dad got rid of it in 83 due to rust and got a 79 Dodge Ramcharger Macho edition. That eventually became my truck. I sold it in 1999 (with 260K miles) for a '97 Dodge 1500. I always look back and regret that sale, but then I see a video like yours and I remember what it took to keep that running. It went through front drive shafts regularly because it would always spin since the hubs wouldn't unlock and the 4" lift. The differential was a pain to shift into 4WD (probably needed a complete rebuild). The brakes always felt mushy. It had a bit of rust too (20 years in south Florida will do that). But the straw that broke it's back was smog. Turns out I had blown a cylinder or two (probably why it averaged about 6 mgp) and the kid who bought it had to rebuild it.. Oh, and the windows leaked as did the seam between the removable roof and the body. We need to remember we're watching your life and we should ultimately have little influence on how you lift it and the decisions you make. Keep it up, Brad. I bet a lot of us are rooting for that 4xe to excel. I'm a gas guy all the way. But I think hybrids are a great interim until we get fission engines or super-crazy batteries with the same range as gas engines and can be completely recharged as fast as you can fill a gas tank.

Hey Brad, since we’re enjoying some coffee and just talk ’in about any ol’ vehicle, check out my 1965 Dodge Town Panel. It's use would have been for delivery of goods, so no side windows. It seats two, is rear wheel drive, with a 225 slant six under the hood, and a “three in the tree”. Two doors up front and “barn doors” on the rear and it has a windshield that wraps around the front a little bit on each side. Many years ago I replaced the original wood floor in the back storage area with a nice stained piece of calico hickory finished with an automotive clear coat. All the floor trim that holds it in place is finished in a black wrinkle coat paint. Many times I’ve thought about and envisioned how fun it would be to convert it to 4wd and outfit it for overlanding, but then I come to my senses and realize there's no way I could butcher this unmodified or cut on piece of history,,, besides, that’s what my Jeep's for 😎

Great upcoming year ahead for sure. As a speed shop owner I so appreciate your statement about not wanting to skirt around the emission requirements. We all love our vehicles and their abilities. The Manufacturers have done amazing things with the performance of modern vehicles. SEMA is working hard to protect the aftermarket performance industry. The RPM ACT will go a long way to help. What does not help is the coal rollers and cat removers. Just no reason in a modern vehicle to by pass and or remove emission components, programming or safety equipment. Good luck with your new adventures. Can't wait for the videos. Happy trails and stay safe.💪👍

Many times in the 4xE I’m wishing I went with the diesel. Especially when I’m having to fill up every 200 miles on road trips, with a RTT and 37s. Also, you can always take extra fuel with you but not extra electricity (at least not yet, give solar a few years to be on every vehicle). I think in town short trips, 4xE is perfect. But for overlanding or long road trips? EcoDiesel would be preferred. Just carry a Costco sized def container with you at all times (maybe under the rear seat lol), and don’t tow anything up in the mountains (save that for the power wagon). Great overview of your current fleet inventory! Like you, I am also a car buff. Grew up playing with toy cars and legos everyday. Can’t wait to see your upcoming content this year!

Love your videos as always Brad. Regarding the 74 Cherokee I feel your pain. I bought a 94 Wrangler YJ that the seller initially tried to get over $10,000 from me for. After trying not to laugh I told him $4000 was more based in reality and we settled for a little under $5000. Now a couple months later she's needed a transmission and transfer case rebuild, new rear brakes, full brake system bleed, all new leafs and bushings, all the lights had to be re-wired, new main seal, axle seals, battery, fuel pump, fuel tank, exhaust, slave cylinder, relays/fuses, tires, etc etc etc. It's shocking to me that anyone would treat a vehicle that way and even worse- ask top dollar for it with a straight face. Hopefully the seller was more reasonable on the 74' and it sounds like you are definitely getting it turned around in the right direction!
@TrailRecon
@TrailRecon 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Ya, you really have to know when buying an older vehicle that it most likely hasn't been well cared for, more often than not that's been my experience.
@errhka
@errhka 2 жыл бұрын
They would have needed that regardless of price simply because of how old the vehicle is, speaking as someone who had done these repairs to mine. The gears feel apart in my mechanics hands which shows that's an age thing and not due to abuse
@Kevin24Seven
@Kevin24Seven 2 жыл бұрын
@@errhka In my situation it was a clear case of decades long neglect, abuse, and half baked "repairs" to the point of the Jeep being dangerous to drive for me and everyone else on the road. I take pride in the vehicles I own and certainly would never pass off something like this to an unsuspecting person. Sadly that is not the norm. Maintenance intervals exist for a reason and every problem that I have fixed on my Jeep I easily identified within the first couple weeks of ownership. No doubt the previous owner was aware but wanted to make it someone else's problem. The easy way is rarely right and the right way is rarely easy. Cheers!

I posted this in an older video, but wanted to post here. I am looking to build an overland rig (and my 300K mile F150 4x4 is as ready to retire and I am!) I don't mind rugged rocky back roads, but am not a rock-crawler (you guys amaze me!) I am likely going to end up with a Ram2500 / 4wheel popup (like your power wagon rig) but wanted to seriously consider Tacoma and Jeep. What I enjoy and appreciate about your channel and the E3 community is that you are open to all. I follow taco and jeep channels and they are fairly exclusive to their brands (but for the most part would not label them exclusive.) Thank you for the great videos and great E3 group.

Brad, I am super stoked that you now have a 4xe in your arsenal. I am on the fence on the 4xe from my 15 build. One reservation is that I live in the mountains of Colorado without a garage and I’m worried about the -20° winters will destroy the batteries and the second is that when “overlanding” I’m pushing just above GVWR as is on my 15. I understand more torque and HP as a benefit but you also have more weight as stock, add 35’s and all the goodies and now no room for gear. I guess I’m saying is that I can’t wait to see what you do with this rig. Thank you for what you do for the Jeep community. Solute

Great video. Watched it this morning having my cup of coffee too. You and I (and I think most of your subscribers) share a lot of common things. I love going on adventures, off road, camping, and videography. My wife and I don’t own Jeeps but we do have Toyotas (Land Cruiser and FJ Cruiser). We also ride motorcycles and we are Ham Radio licensed operators and we are E3 members. When I retire (soon I hope) we want to go on longer adventures.

I'm looking forward to seeing more content with the 4xe, especially in near stock form. It's great to see the modded rigs (I love your JK), but for many of us a much more mild rig is more in tune with what we're using. Keep up the good work, Master Chief!

You’re not the only one that has had that issue with the diesel. Too bad, all that torque and the fuel economy sounded so good. Can’t wait to see how the 4xE works out.

Great video. Thanks for not giving in to the haters. You're a good person. On another note my Son who is actively serving in the Navy is transferring to Lemoore Navel Air Station this summer and is very excited and nervous. He is also big into overlanding and he loves his 2-door Wrangler JK. He is really hoping to run into you at some point while he's out west. Take care of yourself and sorry for the long comment. 👍

Thank you for watching and the kind words. There's lots of places to wheel in California and Lemoore is a good jumping off point. I'm sure your son is going to enjoy it. My son is stationed on Camp Pendleton and during lockdown last year, he met plenty of folks on base with Jeeps and off-road vehicles and I'm sure your son will meet folks at Lemoore. Thank your son for his service!

I love off-road vehicles, all of them. Built Several 60’s Bronco’s over the years and they are super capable. I know next to nothing about the new ones. I bought a Gladiator basically because of your channel, lol, love it. Anyway, thanks for your content.

I have the diesel gladiator and live in Colorado. What you experienced with your diesel JL is what I experience every time towing my trailer. I love my gladiator for a variety of reasons but having the power reduced and speed limited going over our mountain passes is frustrating. I’ve considered cutting the bottom of the hood vents and have watched some videos on it. Enjoying your content. I’m just getting into overlanding with my gladiator and small overland trailer (when we don’t take a bigger travel trailer). Love all the videos.

A big gas 2500 Power Wagon mpg will make anyone want to switch to a diesel truck, lol. I will miss your diesel Wrangler, but mainly because I love the color red. The 4XE is a nice vehicle, I dismissed it earlier, but your video opened my eyes to how good it is. Can't wait for more content on that Jeep. I love the Bronco as well, and not just because it's red, considering it's a first effort by Ford in Wranglers territory, I'm impressed and also can't wait to see content on it. But I want to thank you for the great content over the years, your site is so well done and so much attention to detail and solid thoughtful production value. Keep up the great work!

So glad you answered about owning the 4Xe, Brad! Definitely would love to see some more content on it. We’re loving ours, especially since we’re in Charlotte…and like to go out to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Great Smoky Mountains. Loving it so far…Good luck with that car! Btw…Navy family here too, and sister/brother in-law are both stationed in SD right now. Thanks for the service... 😁

Good call on the Chief roof. That’s a major pain. I’m partial to the late 80’s and early 90’s SJ’s but I’m bias. I did 3,000 miles this summer from Montana back to NC in my newest Grand Wagoneer. Keep the content coming. Video is a grind and I highly appreciate all of the effort and work you put in to getting the right shot/angles/transitions, etc.

Sorry to hear about your diesel jeep. I agree with you about the def. I drove a truck cross country for many years. The after treatment is what eventually killed my motor. Sorry to see it go. Looking forward to your adventures with the 4xe.

Brad it was interesting to hear your comments on the diesel Jeep. I agree that it eats DEF like no tomorrow and given mine is an overland build, I find it annoying how often I need to fill it or thinking about it before a major trip (Norcal to Moab). I also agree about the overheating and as you know we need to cross the Sierra’s to get to the other side. I found after choose to regear it, I no longer have issues on that front, but I do run 16-17mpg. My next goal is to do the power wagon and camper setup for longer trip comfort. Ok time for a coffee ;)
