Yes it does, an ifv carries troops hence INFANTRY FIGHTING VEHICLE. A light tank is not a troop carrier. You are very bad at this and don't know what you are talking about.

Before satellites and high altittude reconnaissance aircraft (with FLIR and SAR), there was a much greater need to for front line units to have their own armored reconnaissance vehicles, especially when they use the reconnaissance by fire tactic. The light tank filled the role. They could also be used for lightening raids where heavier armor could not traverse. Today, the IFV has assumed much of the light tank role as a secondary mission. With that said, light tanks can still be useful in terrain that are ill suited for heavy armor, like mountainous or jungle areas. That or when a country can not afford to purchase and/or maintain MBTs.

The Sprut is a tank destroyer at best. No armour protection and the main gun of an MBT. It isn't a tank it is a tracked mobile anti-tank gun. It can be defeated by the trusty P-38 the GI's used to carry. The German research from the 1970's shows that a missile armed vehicle would be more effective. So they would be better off with a Wiesel like vehicle or a wheeled or tracked light vehicle with a missile system and auto cannon.

There are very notable errors in this summary. Clearly the best light tank (or medium due to its 31 tons) is the VC TAM 2C A2. For its German design and latest generation Israeli technology. The Scorpion is just an obsolete reconnaissance armored vehicle. The AMX-13 is an old and obsolete first generation light tank almost completely retired from service in the world. The Stingray is inferior to the SK-105 in terms of reliability and tactical mobility and was only manufactured in just over a hundred units for a single customer in the early 1980s with only a mid-life modernization. The Chinese models are clearly inferior technologically and in terms of reliability to the VC TAM 2C A2. I don't know what parameters they used for the ranking, but from the final result they don't seem to have logic or knowledge of the subject and they mix armor that is totally different in weight, characteristics, firepower, technology and tactical use.
