there was no 80s punk rock thing . There was a new wave and retro thing going on. You mention Dune . Dune has been steady been trying to be made so that would happen anytime

Burton's Batman movies and the original Crow were much more Goth than punk rock. I think the narrator is just too young to know the difference.
