One of my favorites from that era was ironically (since I started with the subject) Adolf and the Piss Artists. Notable also were Time Bomb 77, The Despised, Man's Ruin, Terminus City, The Breakaways, and Bloody Sods. Ironically ska never took hold in Atlanta with as many skinheads as there were.

I really dig the Expelled. "Sorry mate! Ain't got no cider!" Jolly good tune. Of course, GBH, Crass, the Exploited, theAdicts and many others are awesome.

One thing I think I would have talked about were the Southall riots in 1981 and how that shaped a lot of the politics of that time period. And you could spend a week talking about all the Bank Holiday riots. All political, but about class, not race. And I do think it is worth noting the civil war that was fought coast to coast against the nazis. If you were active during that time, it was a big deal.

You can't name all the bands, but I want the newbies on this channel to know about Disorder! One of the most important bands in the history of punk. They had a guitar sound unlike any other, and they spawned the entire punk culture/ethos known as "noise," popular slogan being "noise not music." It's always recommended to start with their EP "Perdition," although I think their best and most unique record is "Mental Disorder." Believe it or not, these guys date back to 1980 and have some REALLY early music that will surprise you.

I'm 41 now. Been a punk rocker/skinhead since I was 17 years old. Never let the music to dictate my political personal views...Even though I'm right wing person today (not a NAZI though)...still listen to PUNK ROCK from both sides of the political spectrum... Regardless of being right wing I like to listen to leftist bands like e.g. the Oppressed, Angelic Upstarts or The Clash, Crass, or Conflict....I think they play good music and f..cking great punk rock...I also listen to bands like Skrewdriver both punk stuff and nazi stuff...also Kill Baby Kill, Skullhead, No Remorse...or even Landser... MUSIC NEVER DEFINED MY POLITICAL VIEWS...I listen to all punk music...from leftists like Clash, Crass, Conflict, Oppressed, Angelic Upstarts, Los Fastidios, Belarusian Mister X (very SHARP band), through the classics like Cockney Rejects, Cock Sparrer, Sham 69, 4 Skins, The Exploited, G.B.H., Chelsea, The Boys, Generation X, Cyanide, 999, Combat 84, Condemned 84, Infa Riot, etc. and finishing with the bands like Skrewdriver, Skullhead, No Remorse...etc. It's only music at the end of the day....and you need to be a sad person if you let your personal or political views be influenced by the music you listen...

I listen to a lot of the early 80's UK bands, including Subs, rejects, exploited etc.. but must admit The Partisans lead the pack for me.

The Business, Blitz, The Ejected, Four Skins, Cock Sparrer, too many to name

Partisans are awesome, as I was into punk longer and got over having to have everything fast I really started to appreciate The Time Was Right LP for being slower and more melodic.. i still love GBH and the Varukers but some bands like Special Duties I just cant really stand listening to now days I dont know why.

That's so cool someone out there mentioned all these LA Oi! Bands. I remember these bands back in the 90's. I had lots of backyard gigs at my pad in La Puente Ca. SGV/ USA. I'm positive one or two of these bands played at my pad. Take care out there. 51 and still Loud Proud and Punk!

Just to put my 2 cents in on bands that don't get enough credit from the 90's that I didn't hear mentioned: Violent Society, Blanks 77, Lower East Side Stiches, The Ducky Boys, The Trouble, The Templars, Oxblood, One Man Army, The Pist, Adolf and the Piss Artists, The Forgotten...and I'm sure I'm missing many more. As far as one band that was mentioned (albeit briefly) and totally doesn't get nearly enough credit, OXYMORON is absolutely a must listen. Fuck the 90's, Here's our Noize is one of the greatest albums ever written. Makes me miss Asbury Park and the Berkley Hotel. Those who know, know.
@Mixwell19832 жыл бұрын
I had an LP by The Pist back then, nobody I saw really listened to them and yes IMO Oxymoron is one of the (and my fav) band from the 90s with probably a global threat being 2nd to me. Those 2 bands to this day I can listen to all the time where some bands now get annoying after a while. The Subversives are another great band, i refer to them as thr USAs Oxymoron. If you havent heard them I have their LP uploaded on my channel, know your enemy is probably my fav song off the LP
@mjriemen2 жыл бұрын
I was going to say that you must be from the East Coast… Than you mentioned Asbury Park and confirmed it. The 90’s were cool. The Boils, Bomb Squadron, The Bristles… Lots of “B” bands…

Cocksparrer were one of those early pub rock bands, they formed in 72 and were on Decca records for awhile. You also forgot to mention The Press, which is probably the first US Oi! band ever. André Schlesinger died in 2016, he was a great guy.

Ik really like these punk documentary chanals. Cool to see one about OI!. Most people shy away from the subject, yet this was a part of my youth and the punk scene. Mind you, I'm from 94 and grew up in a town without any scene at all. OI! Encaptures the feeling you live trough when you grow up in a shitty (ex)industrial town without any clubs. Street fights, beer and work. It's not the best excistance, but it is live and that's what makes it true and ring my heart. Dope for you to cover the subject!
