It’s a shame that the original singer sewing machine factory in Clydebank was still there as that would have so cool to see. They used the canal to export their sewing machines in huge wooden crates up and down the country and the world. Haven’t been for a mooch around Glasgow in years but I hope some of the industrial buildings which used the canal are still there. So glad you started in Edinburgh I can’t wait to see you do the Falkirk wheel. Once again another fab post with plenty of giggles 🤗🤗

Otis is too adorable for words. We took the train between Glasgow and Edinburgh - and I'm not sure I realized there was a canal right there! I bet it felt good to be back on a narrowboat - even one that was a little shorter. The Falkirk Wheel is an amazing bit of engineering. I can't wait to see you cover that because I know how you do things and I know it will be amazing.

It’s fun to watch Colin’s love-hate relationship with trains. Oh those evil trains that caused the demise of the canals I love them so that I want to ride the trains. And the way he acts like those dogs from the movie up and the way they react about a squirrel but for him it’s train.

As always, quality, informative and entertaining. A nice diversion into the central belt of Scotland with an immense amount of history to draw content from. A valuable and strategic investment to refurbish the canal and one which I'm sure many people are now enjoying. In the mid-70's during the school summer holidays I used to accompany my grandfather who was a truck driver based out of Edinburgh around the places you're describing. I can clearly recall seeing the many "bings". Back then they were predominantly a pink/red colour and didn't have the plant growth they now have which made them much more distinctive.

You'll pass through my home town of Kirkintilloch. Before the Beeching cuts, there used to be a river passing underneath a railway, passing underneath a canal. You'll go over that point if you stay on the Forth and Clyde Canal. Most of the cast iron red telephone boxes were made there(in the Lion foundry). The original Clyde Puffers were first built in Kirkintilloch. Kirkintilloch also had the first railway in Scotland, the Kirkintilloch to Monkland Railway carrying coal. Safe journey and thanks for all that you do. Oh and Kirkintilloch was originally built on an old Roman fort on Antoinine's Wall.

Great video yet again. Without doubt one of the most interesting channels on KZbin even though I am a non-boater. Colin's research and info is always fantastic but my favourite part is always the 'bloopers'. I have been infected by the 'TRAAAAAAIN' bug and just cant help myself. Now you have introduced the 'PLAAAAAANE' bug AND the 'TREEEEEEEE bug, my life will never be the same again as we live under the flight path from East Midlands Airport and I will now be unable to ignore every passing aircraft. I also have a large garden with several very mature trees in the 40-50 foot high bracket. Cant wait to see the new boat - Cant be long now.
