Thanks for explaining that exercise. I thought the idea of low crawling (or really high crawling in that case) insane for a pistol fight. But in the context of just stressing yourself out with physical exertion to replicate combat stress, it makes a lot more sense.

Good morning! It depends on the dynamics of the situation. In this instance it was practicing getting to cover and concealment. In this instance the cover concealed the approach, albeit it was just a simulation of cover since a plastic barrel only would provide concealment. LOL - sounds like a BS explanation doesn't it? Most S&W K frame fans consider the three inch K frame to be the perfect balance between size & concealment...so much so that the FBI issued them before the semi auto revolution hit law enforcement...Jodi Foster correctly used one for that time period in Silence of the Lambs. My three inch Mod 64 was one of my favorite carry guns until I passed it down to my son. But I was lucky enough a couple of years ago to spot two used police dept trade in Mod 64's at a local gun store. One was stock selling for $500 & the other had been converted to double action only and, strangely enough, was only half that price...so I snatched it up & it is a twin to your Cochise. & like you, Greg, I attended the SCCJA way back in the early 80's & definitely remember those Instructors screaming in my ear, LOL. One of them was Israel Brooks (the very first black S.C. Highway Patrolman & later United States Marshall) with that Buford Pusser style club he used to walk around with there. Every time I screwed up in the mock training town "Amickville" Brooks would give me a rock to carry around in my back pocket & at the end of the day he wanted every rock back 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for your enjoyable videos & take care, Amigo.

Amickville! Brings back memories. Was Bruce Cann the DT instructor when you came through? Between him and the rapier wit of that high strung legals attorney Bill Smith, those were some fond memories. That and Jim Kirby stomping around the lecture hall with those size thirteen boondockers and beating those ham hock fists as he made his point - Up to the Supreme Court! The most miserable place on the face of the earth, but a lot of fun and camaraderie as well.

@@LionquestFitness yup...even though I never chewed, I often brought a pack of chewing tobacco to Kirby's classes so when it too dull to tolerate, I'd start tossing the pack up & catching it. As soon as Kirby spotted it he'd announce a break & I'd toss the pack to him. Never failed 🤣🤣🤣

@@jeffanon1772 Yep, Jim Kirby, retired FBI agent and Constitutional scholar, but at heart still a country boy from Pacolet SC. A couple of the guys in my class pulled that same ruse to get breaks. You have to wonder if that wasn't a tradition carried down from every class.

just got this one on my feed almost midnight here, its good you realized in training the speed loader mistake , if you have more than 1 firearm those mistakes can happen, thats why that training pays off always ! training is a great way to tell ourselves what to fix , I like the drill

The way your able to crawl and stuff is very cool, imagine having another barrel to maneuver to while having some steel targets spread out would probably get your channel more popular, because i dont see any of that content posted anywhere else

I still kick myself for not snatching up at least one 13/65 three inch when new pre locks were cheaper than used examples popping up today. Did grab a three inch 60 in .38 Special which I still have complete with a set of Herritt’s stocks. Great training g demo.

I enjoy your videos, I think the different drills you do are very smart. People who go to the ranges who think shoot paper standing still and their targets still dont live in reality

Thank you very much for this video too. I also shoot better my 2.5" s&w 686 than my 3" s&w 64. The 686 is heavier and has adjustable sights.

Your marksmanship looks pretty good to me Gregg. Next month the retirees here are getting ready for LEOSA certification and I plan to use my M&P Compact 9MM and a Smith Model 10 snub former service revolver. I only hope to do half as well as you did here.

All of those shots were in the center mast area, both guns. This was not a slow fire drill, had movement, and you are trying to get it done quickly. Way different than static bench shooting. Practical shooting. I spent 28yrs in the Army. I saw all manner of shooters with handguns. Every time I conducted handgun ranges, for training, pre-deployment, etc. They were never static. Very unlike annual qual ranges. Further, I always made people shoot with their non-dominant hand. I have seen some good shooters humbled by that. An accident a few years back caused me to retrain myself for right hand carry. I had therapy after surgeries on the left hand and that went on for a year! I'm not quite 100% with the left hand now so I stuck to being right-handed. The bottom line, either of those handguns will service the intended purpose. I like the S&W model 19-5, 4" out of the many handguns I have. It is a bit large for concealed carry on me though. I do carry a 3" Ruger SP101. Conceals well and after a thorough trigger job, deburring, and polish, it is smooth as silk and runs like a top.

Taurus is decent mid tier product but even with the slip in quality of S&W lately they don't compare. I've owned a few Taurus, eventually sold them all. I still many Smith's. There's a noticeable difference in trigger, cylinder slip, fit&finish, and tolerance of forcing cone to cylinder. Long time subscriber, keep up the great work.

The Taurus 856 is for all practical purposes an improved J-Frame clone. Taurus took their older Model 85 clone of the S&W J-Frame and simply added 0.050" to the cylinder diameter, allowing 6 rounds of .38 Special +P to fit - that's it. That Model 64 is considerably larger as a K-Frame. If S&W decides to make a 6-shot .38 Special J-Frame, then you'll have your direct comparison.

Interesting reaction to a simple comparison. It is almost like I offended you by the comparison. The Taurus 85 and the 856 aren't what I'd call J frames. They're slightly larger. And as you said, they are smaller than a K frame, but the 856 has a K frame size cylinder. I have a three inch Chief Special I could have compared the Defender to, but with six rounds, I felt the 64 would be a better comparison.

Grambo... there's no part 2.... 😞. But on this video, in my opinion, 2 things made me think. 1 your 3 shot ( the flyer), this may have happened because your mind was racing ahead of your next shot. You planed or reaction to moving to cover . Your comment 😊 2 You should always count your ammo..... know what you got. Don't be in a hurry when your going some where, check and double check your expected needs. ( I cannot (will not 😊) tell you how many times I ran out of fuel for my bikes, in the past when riding in the bush... 😢)

I liked the drill however if the barrel is empty it won’t stop a lot of bullets. Just aim for center barrel and its guns and roses funeral. Very good video though. Thanks

I don't have any 3" barreled revolvers.but I do have a model 64 S&W it does the job.as does my Ruger Security-six with it's 4" barrel. Boy they are heavy. How did I carry them all day long ?

Ouch! My advice would be to find an older Model 10 in good shape. 1982 seems to be the point where many believe S&W quality started declining. Depending on where you are at they go from $500 to $650. Model 10's made from mid sixties on shouldn't have problems with plusP in limited amounts. Just stay away from the really hot rounds.

In the olden days I owned both S&W and Colt revolvers with 2", 4", and 6" barrels. You could not give me a 2 1/2" or 3" gun. For home and field use I preferred the 4" -6" guns and for discreet carry I chose the 2" Colts because they held six rounds and were only a skosh bigger than S&W J-frames. I wasn't too concerned about carry weight and used aluminum and steel frames, though I always shot better with the latter. As I aged I began noticing the weight difference and the difficultly of using a short sight radius. Colt was no longer building DA revolvers, and a 2" S&W K-frame is huge by comparison, so I bought a S&W Centennial. When Taurus came out with their small 2" six-shot I rejoiced a bit, but my enthusiasm was tempered by my overall negative experience with their handgun reliability. I did eventually break down and buy a 3" Model 60 for my petite wife (only because they don't make a 4" J-frame). Like every other J-frame I've owned, the DA trigger pull was a bit heavy even after I tuned it, so I did some more searching. Since S&W won't put a 4" barrel on their J-frame guns or build a six-shot more akin to the Taurus 856 or Colt Cobra/Agent, I got her a Kimber K6S Target, 4". It's too big and heavy for her to carry concealed, but it's the right size for field carry or home defense and the action is light and smooth, plus it holds six rounds of 357 Magnum.
