I feel like the identity of the 87th tribe is up for interpretation. Personally I prefer the idea that a new tribe was encountered by Magnus which he then conquered bumping the number up to 87, as opposed to saying The Legion is a single tribe that conquered another 86, it just feels wrong to single out The Legion when they are the entity formed from the others, not the initial starting point 🤔

I think the 87th tribe is this new band of marked men in dry wells, despite being legionaries initially, they are now something new. Ulysses does describe the divide marked men as something ascendant of the NCR & Legion through their shared suffering. Wouldn’t be a stretch to see the dry wells legionaries as this 87th tribe
@paulthep0teat2 жыл бұрын
When I first completed Lonsome Road years ago and got this armor I thought it was supposed to be for the NCR after the Legion crushed them at the second battle of Hoover Dam. Caesar talks about not only conquering and assimilating the NCR but also initiating a synthesis between the two nation states. Forming the two into a newer, singular nation and establishing his own "Pax Romana". Caesar is also so full of himself and his Legion he would likely commission something like this to be made before the battle to act as a ceremonial gesture in victory. He's a man of symbolism, whether it be slaughtering a tribe as a display to terrify his foes or minting a new coin with a certain Couriers face on it. Personally, a little fact about the armor on its Fallout wiki page kinda backs this up in my mind. Before they changed the end of the game to be a total cutoff you could continue after the final battle, and if you sided with the Legion the Armor of the 87th Tribe was left in a chest for you to wear. It's the Armor of the NCR Tribe.

Thr 87th tribe is probably just a tribe thats been assimilated during the events of NV. The Legion isn't just at the mojave. The reason why Caesar is holding off on the dam is partly because he's awaiting Lanius to arrive from the "wilderness of Utah". The main goal of the Legion is Hoover Dam and Vegas of course, but there's still advancements into other territories happening while the game unfolds. Keep in mind that the Legion controls all of Arizona and New Mexico and have substantial claims in Colorado and Utah. That's a huge area for the Legion to control that probably still has a few tribes leftover.

The Twin Mothers were supposed to be featured in the cancelled Black Isle Fallout 3 aka Van Buren. Many things from Van Buren mentioned in New Vegas are not elaborated on this being one of them. The Twin Mothers were descended from the inhabitants of Vault 29, a Vault inhabited just by kids. Nobody over the age of 15 was admitted into the vault. Under the guardianship of Diana, the tribe’s “goddess” the Twin Mothers developed a pacifistic and egalitarian society with one male chief and land female chief. Given the tribe’s culture alongside Ulysses’ wording of their fate, it’s safe to assume the Twin Mothers suffered the same fate as the Ridgers before them.

I was under the impression that the white-legs would never have been permitted to join the legion either way. Yes, certainly not while remaining as they were, but I could swear that Ulysses said they would never be allowed to join even if they succeeded in killing Joshua Graham as, officially he was already dead and Caesar's word was law, would imply that he failed, etc. Anyone else remember that or has it just been too long since I played the game last.

You’re right, frankly this gentlemen made a lot of minor lore mistakes in this video. Enough in my opinion to say this isn’t an accurate video, but yeah the white legs were never going to be allowed to join the legion. It’s almost like Caesar was messing with them because he moved the goal post until it was literally “wipe all these tribes out here for me” and Ulysses tells us Caesar never planned to let them live; regardless of them accomplishing that gol or not.
@seanromine39322 жыл бұрын
@@cecrops9289 I figured that it was really Ulysses that was messing with the white-legs. He was disillusioned with the legion, not especially happy with what happened to the twisted-hairs- his tribe. Found great promise at the Divide, watched it fall apart either by intent or accident and did a lot, most every DLC in some small way had his mark on it, to get at you. Knowing that the white-legs were never to succeed in joining the Legion-in part due to the burned man not being accepted as existing, partially due to Ulysses fully expecting that you would likely come out on top. It was him killing Joshua Graham or driving him out, making him become the Legate again or you painstakingly steering him to salvation. Caesar likely had no idea that any of this was going on at all. This was never about him-it was always about you-the Courier. Not messing with the White-legs, not messing with Joshua Graham and the Mormons who were aiding him. This was about you, making you remember yourself or, making decisions that would change the fate of so many. How would you face these choices? Could you live with them? Would you take steps to once more build your new nation or would you once again stand back and watch those around you burn?

I think the Legion conquered the BoS from the Tactics game imo hence why they got part of Power Armor on their Centurions and that they did mention a Sect of BoS that doesn't know their leader. had that thought today and had to share on this related video.

Perhaps not outright conquered, but warred with and maybe are still fighting them (Mid-West BoS is massive in terms of territory, the Legion would be almost half of the US if they had).

Honestly if there ever is a fallout new Vegas 2, Id love for it to take place east of the Colorado river in the soon to be or partially conquered areas of Caesar’s leagion and seeing all the different tribes and the legion’s rise to power

i agree with the idea of the legion conquering 87 individual post-nuke tribes. the culture they must all have is insane

@@davidhong1934 meh even if caesar has forbid their old ways, many of them remember their old tribes and still wear/ have things that have spiritual meaning to them. Such as Ulysses getting mad at the dead horses for putting their hair in dreads

Hard disagree on your assessment that a legion victory in the mojave would lead to the legion conquering california and im pretty sure thats showed fairly clearly in game

The faction in all of fallout that brings me the most joy to eradicate. At least the Mutants can claim they had their brains broken by FEV and Jacobstown proves they can be good people. The Legion are just straight up animals with no path to redemption.

I am pretty sure if I remember correct, if the boomers arrive at hoover dam with there plane and Caeser wins, he largely leaves them alone

When you think about how most of North America's population are like the Jackals, the Vipers, the Fiends or the Khans, raiders who gain resources by attacking unsuspecting travelers often cannibalizing them and ask how could one even build a functioning society from this, a new perspective to the Legion appears. Not having fully functioning cities like Vegas or sprawling new communities with GECKs like Shady Sands also make the situation far more complicated. The Legion is better than total chaos which is pretty much the best one can ask for in the situation that part of the nation was in. Giving more insight into how savage those tribes really were prior to joining the Legion really could have made it a much more appealing faction.

Look at this lore! this is so deep and historical. This is what fallout is, thought provoking and made with real history as a template, This is so much better than what ever bethesda is making

I very much want a Fallout Tactics 2 that lets us play through the conquering of the 87 tribes. Instead of R. Lee Ermey we would have The Mighty Caesar, Joshua and Graham giving us our mission briefings. Then the game would end with the 1st battle for the Dam and us watching Joshua be cast into the grand canyon.
@LitD2 жыл бұрын
Pretty neat idea, it would even work from a gameplay perspective; You start with a small bad of tribals using primitive weapons (spears, machetes, javelins etc) and limited guns but as the story progresses you gather more resources and more advanced equipment even as you shift from fighting primitive tribes and start encountering more advanced societies.
