The torque spec on these plugs is 16 to 18 lb ft of torque. I said 18, but put them at 16 later. Both are within spec of the proper torque.

@@89GDo I need to apply dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs?
@89G17 күн бұрын
@@IAmGabe777 no, just inside the spark plug boot.
@IAmGabe77717 күн бұрын
@@89GI just want to clarify since it’s the first time I’ll be doing this, the square part of the wire boot you pull from add grease? Or the part of the boot that connects and touches the top of the spark plugs?

It's also a good idea to blow out the spark plug wells with compressed air from a compressor or can. Debris tends to gather down there and fall into cylinder when you take the plugs out.

Yes, great point. We had already done this prior to the video when we thought we were doing a head gasket. Thanks for bringing that up!

Solid tips and tricks! Great idea to use the hose to put the spark plugs in. Thanks for sharing as always!

The socket rubber tip is priceless! The 4.6 and coyote mustangs have plugs that go deep into the top of the head too 😂! In the past Ive used a telescoping magnet to drop the plugs in, in the past I have been wrong, what I really needed a hose!

Thank you! My F150 has them deep plugs too.... that's actually what I started using that method on. It works good on the Duratec 4 cylinder, and even my own Toyota (this Camry is not mine).

Did you pre-loosen the plug wires on both ends? I'm having a tough time just pulling the boot off the top of the engine. And how are you using the screwdriver to help remove the wire on the other end?
@89G5 ай бұрын
It originally came to me with a suspected head gasket leak, so yes - I had just removed the plugs and wires to check for that just a couple weeks prior. The screwdriver was only used to push in the locking tabs. Hopefully that helps! Also, I find these to be beneficial at times for pulling plug wires: amzn.to/3Xg3vXn

Is it the rubber stuck to the plug wells, or do you think it's the clip hanging on to the plug itself?

so the order of the spark plug cables is from front to back: 1, 3, 2, 4 ? Can someone confirm if this will work with Camry 1998 2.2L 4 cylinder? Thanks
@89G3 ай бұрын
The firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2 on these.

OK, I'm seeing what you are asking now. My bad. Front to back on the coil goes 1, 4, 3, 2 - my apologies. I thought you meant the firing order of the motor.
@89G3 ай бұрын
I just went back and watched. It looks like the previous person mixed up plug wires 3 and 2 and I just used what they had done. The reason this worked is because this is a waste spark system, BUT it does indeed need to be changed. I will talk to the owner of this vehicle and have them let me swap it. As per my previous indication though... it SHOULD go 1, 4, 3, 2 front to back. THANKS!!
