Apparently Wolnir was originally meant to be a covenant head that you found in Yhorm's boss arena. Yhorm was probably fought in Gundyr's arena, Gundyr in Oceiros'. Dancer was originally an NPC, Aldrich was originally fought in the Deacons' boss room. The story changes drastically if you accept the above to true. The lore and layout of DaS3 is unreliable to the point that I'm not sure I actually consider it canon.

Yeah... I remember spending at least three different grinding sessions just running up and down those stairs for those tokens. And those sessions could last a good two-to-three-hours each. It had gotten to the point that I just took care of the two or three in front of the door to the Cathedral and ignore the one in the far right-hand corner. Saved a lot of time since that one (for some reason) was stronger than the others. Let's not also forget having to kill dozens of those swamp monsters outside of the Abyss Watchers arena to get their token at the same time. Like, I understand From Soft wanted to make it difficult so players would consider doing PVP and what-not, I even gave in and did some PVP to help players with some of the harder bosses just to get the co-op medals, but... ugh that drop-rate. I honestly could not imagine how much worst it would have been without the Avirce of Greed and those tokens Patches sells. Along with like one other item that boosted my drop-rate chances.

@MrRjwagner4 жыл бұрын
@@deadellavita798 The Silver Knight farming wasn't that terrible, I will say. Super annoying, but it wasn't honestly that terrible. I will point out that I (and probably a lot of other people) were using discovery-boosting items like the Symbol of Avarice and the coin you can purchase from Patches in Firelink. (Plus I think an off-handed weapon that also boosted my Discovery by a little on top of everything else.) The simple fact of the matter is... the Drop rate/RNG was just really unlucky for me despite all that stuff equipped. It certainly helped, no doubt about it, I do not want to know how worst it would have been without having those items, but RNG was not on my side and it still took a few grinding sessions for me to get the tokens.

Note for Tip 1: The Abyss Watchers are near the Catacombs of Carthus because High Lord Wolnir was corrupted by the Abyss. The Watchers were sent to lay waste to Carthus because of this, however, they were also corrupted by the Abyss at the same time. Since their sole purpose was to combat and contain the Abyss, once they were corrupted, they began to attach each other. Because they also could not be killed, they were constantly in this cycle above Carthus.. the last city they destroyed.

Earthen Peak doesn’t have one, so far as we know, yet there it is converging with the rest of them. Even if that were the case, the Abyss Watchers had just sealed away Carthus and then started killing each other on the spot, so I would think that the entrance to Carthus is part of “the lands of the Lords of Cinder” so far as the Undead Legion are concerned considering they’re standing right there

I have some issues with your point about gimmick bosses. I agree that bosses that require strange things to beat them and aren't even bosses really are not good. The Ancient Wyvern wasn't good because his gimmick was forced and you don't fight the Wyvern, you traverse the stage. But I don't think bosses are bad just because they have a gimmick. Demon's Souls was liked so well because it tried different things. The Final boss is more just a story point and not a real fight. Nowadays, we would hate that but it was unique and I'm glad FromSoft tried it. Overtime they should find what's best. Although now all the good bosses are the same thing: properly time your rolls and then attack in openings. These bosses are fun but they're what every boss is now. Whenever From tries anything different we just complain. I think the Deacons of the Deep were a somewhat good boss that tried something different. They require thought to beat as they'll gang up on you if you rush blindly yet they can punish players who're too slow with their curse attack. You can lead the Deacons around to find an opening, and then strike. It's fun cleaving through the Deacons and at the same time the swapping position of the one you need to hit spices things up a bit. In the second phase the curse attack puts you under a time limit and forces you to prioritise hitting the guys who heal or the actual boss. Even the atmosphere is cool at the start of the fight. Seeing a massive crowd of the Deacons all just stare you down as they awaken is rather menacing.I don't think the Deacons are perfect but they're probably one of the best gank fight in all of Dark Souls. Maybe not as good as Darklurker but good and different. I applaud From for trying something different with the Deacons and, while they can improve, they should keep trying new things and improving the souls games so not every boss becomes a clone of Pontiff or lady Maria. Those are awesome bosses, but we need something fresh and unique along with our action packed and difficult boss fights.

We took Dark Souls 2 for granted. By far the best NG+, among a few other technical things that it did better too; dual wielding, hexes, etc -> you're absolutely right about challenge run incentives; such a simple and fun thing to give you a trinket.
@GizmoFan17 жыл бұрын
Some of the new things DS2 were added were great, especially hexes and powerstancing. But a bulk of the PvE in the game just isn't fun; slow healing combined with almost every encounter being a gank makes it nearly impossible to heal during combat (causing needless deaths), dying takes away health making it even more frustrating than it needs to be, you're pretty much required to have a bow or magic at some points of the game, Soul Memory is a ridiculous way to match people, you're way underpowered at the beginning of the game and overpowered at the end due to the abundance of lifegems, some enemies and bosses move way too quickly and do way too much damage compared to your speed and health (case in point Sir Alonne and Alonne Knights), enemies despawning makes it even more annoying to farm for some items than it already is, and running back to bosses becomes a chore due to oftentimes having to kill every enemy there on the way back so you won't get hit out of the animation. PvP in the game is fine for the most part, but the PvE is unbearable at times.
@missmonke87067 жыл бұрын
Timothy E. At least it tried to do something a bit different, and expand on the mechanincs. Sure, not everything is great, but at least it didn't take the boring DS3 approach. DS3 is just roll-spam the game. Weapon arts are unnecessary, and in the end only manage to take away from the experience (I would prefer that some weapons just kept their special moves). DS2 is unrefined, but it isn't just a big glob of copypasta.

Demon Souls took 50% of your health instantly on death. I remember my first playthought where I was extremely angry that the closest bonfire to Vordt was the one at the top of the tower near the dragon. Then I found the shortcut to the first bonfire. But even then, I tought "wow, there are so many enemies before the boss, everytime I get there (I was noob, like anyone in their first playthrough) I lose a lot of flasks, and the boss is hard, why there are so few bonfires? Then you defeat him, and there'sa bonfire in his arena. You watch a cutscene, then a bonfire. You walk for 20 seconds, there's a bonfire. I felt like the game was making a joke of me...I mean, why there are so many fucking bonfires in a row (if you skip cutscenes you could see 3 bonfires in 30 seconds) and there wasn't one before Vordt? Okay, now, after finishing the game and having started it multiple times with multiple classes, I know how to get in his room without getting hit once, and I can even kill him without getting hit once, but the first time it was just a sad joke for me...

I definitely agree with Fix #1. One of the things that makes DS1 so great is the earlygame freedom, so that starting a new game could be spiced up by getting a Gravelord Sword and the maximum requirements before fighting the Taurus Demon.

I had sooo much respect when I heard. "Yhorm the giant" until i saw how easy he was with the storm ruler shit...
@nathanjora76274 жыл бұрын
I don’t know, even with the storm ruler he can be pretty easily since he can almost one or two shots certain build and that the storm ruler takes ages to charge up. And when you fight him fairly... Well, 1) he is nowhere near as interesting as people think a Yhorm fight without storm ruler could be, and 2) he is pretty challenging. I mean... Experiences are worth something, it’s not just about the difficulty, I’m glad DS3 didn’t forget that. But to be honest, if they had made it something that you had to earn by following Siegward’s questline, rather than something you can do wether you even crossed paths with Siegward, it would’ve been better. And if it really has to have the gimmick because they won’t fix Siegward’s quest line... Then I don’t know, make it so that Yhorm’s storm ruler is less effective or even slower or breaks after only a couple of uses so that you definitely can’t use it for all of the boss fight. Or make it so that Yhorm’s storm ruler only works for criticals or something.
@MrRjwagner4 жыл бұрын
I do feel like there should have been two ways to actually fight Yhorm. One with or without the Storm Ruler. Without the Storm Ruler, he would obviously be tougher to fight and kill, but not to the point where you're just hacking away at his feet for forty-minutes. Maybe make him a lot harder without it, but still adorable that does not include testing your sanity in the process. Or, allow the Storm Ruler, but make getting this legendary weapon legendarily hard. Perhaps it can be a reward for taking down a certain god... one who From Soft hyped the hell up in the promotion of DS3, maybe explaining that it was just one of the items he or his followers managed to find and collect to use against their enemies. I think that would make the fight so much better, earning the weapon instead of just seeing it sitting next to the guy who it's weak to. I mean, as it stands, the only difficulty there is with getting and using the Storm Ruler is frantically equipping it and charging it up before you get splat by the man. Outside of that, there's just sadly no difficulty with Yhorm which is a shame given who he is, his lore, and what he has done.
@nathanjora76274 жыл бұрын
Kieara Wagner I’m entirely for making the stormtuler something you have to get rather than something you get just by entering Yhorm’s throne room, bjtnI’m entirely against giving it to Nameless King. Merely because for most people, hacking away at Yhorm would actually be quicker and easier than trying to take it from Nameless King. Although, I wouldn’t mind if the sword that can be made with Faraam’s soul could inflict heavy damage to Yhorm. But I think the weapon itself should’ve been in the profaned capital, if only because this area is in dire need of content. I’d love for Profaned Capital to be twice or one and half as big as it is right now, with storm ruler being protected by another boss. Like, for example, a treasurer. There are plenty of cool things one could do from someone who either kept living because of his duty, or who kept living because of his greed. It could be, for example, an amalgam of the Profaned Capital’s inhabitants, fused with treasures, to show their greed and their fear of Yhorm since it would’ve made sense that when Yhorm’s attempt at recreating a first flame failed, they would’ve turned against him. It could also one of the witch or one of the sorcerer, or even the Profaned flame itself, and we would finally have a good version of bed of chaos (considering how referential DS3 is to DS1 in rather smart way, that would’ve been a thing I’d expect).
@MrRjwagner4 жыл бұрын
@@nathanjora7627 That is fair about the Nameless King, as fantastic as that boss fight is... hacking away at Yhorm would still be easier to do then taking on that headache of a boss. I just think the Storm Ruler should have been an adventure onto itself. I get why it's there, Yhorm straight up gave his people the one weapon they needed to kill him since he became a tyrant onto himself. But that being said, there's no reason it should be in his own throne room. I do agree with perhaps keeping it in the Profane Capital itself since... holy shit, does this place smells of rushed content. I mean, I still enjoy the Profane Capital itself, but you think this would be more grandios and impressive... rather than a single hallway with some enemies stationed about, and a rather cool, but still kinda easy to doge sentry turret. It really does feel like the Profane Capital was DS3 version of Lost Izalith (being rushed and hastily put together, though not to the serious degree that Izalith was.) But, still, make it a feat to get the SR. And if players don't want to do that, then they can hack at his legs. Make him still take a bit of damage, but without the storm ruler, maybe only let him take 1/3ed or 1/4th of the damage he would otherwise take.
@nathanjora76274 жыл бұрын
Kieara Wagner « hacking away at Yhorm would still be easier » I can testify of that :| It took me less tries to do Yhorm without storm ruler on my first playthrough than it took me to take down Faraam on my I don’t even know the number playthrough when playing a mage. « I just think the Storm Ruler should have been an adventure onto itself » Oh I totally agree, I just think it would’ve been entirely sufficient to make it an adventure set in the Profaned Capital, if only to flesh out the area. « being rushed and hastily put together, though not to the serious degree that Izalith was » Honestly I prefer Izalith :| Not just because... Goddamn it’s beautiful, but merely in terms of content : despite the lack of diversity in enemies, despite the somewhat linear (without shortcut) path, the level still finds clever way to give lore and reward exploration. I would love it if someone could remake this area to contain some black knights fighting with the demons at the start of black Izalith, to put some black knights corpses throughout the city, to make firesage an actual boss onto itself (especially since his lore is so freakin cool), and make the entrance to most Izalith more interesting visually. And add some enemies apart from the firestatues in the latter half of lost Izalith. « maybe only let him take 1/3ed or 1/4th if the damage he would otherwise take » ... That’s already the case :| Maybe it’s more something like 1/6th or 1/8th, but it’s not that difficult to take him down like that to be perfectly honest.

ok then here's another thing. have you ever, and i mean, EVER, in your entire life played a co-op game from start to finish with a friend? i assume yes unless you were a lonely child or someone who started gaming only recently. ok, now, take this in account, dark souls doen't seem like it, because it's definitely not the best at it, but it is a co-op game. "so ok, what's the problem?" you're gonna say. well here's the problem: playing on console ONLINE costs money. some people don't have much time and not even enough money to get more than one month of plus, in fact, some people buy a console just to play a souls game with their friend, that means they have only 14 days to finish the game, and probably with limited time too given how usually most people have a job or school or anyway some semblance of life in society. now take this in account: if you want to play co-op a souls game, you need to play it online, and when you play online you spend money for at least one month of online play or use the free trial days (2-14) and you or your friend most likely are gonna have a limited time to play in general, let's say 2 hours per day minus 2 hours per week, cause maybe they won't be able to play everyday and you have to less or more divide by two the time, because you'r emost likely going to finish the game twice(once for you once for your friend). leaving aside the the 2 weeks free trial but the entire month of PAID plus(about 10eurollars iirc), you have effectively about 25 hours playtime. it seems like a lot of time sure, plenty to finish dark souls if you don't suck like shit, but when you take in account places like irthyll dungeon, crucifix woods and anor londo, with the amount of invasions it gets risky to play every single area in co-op due to the wasted time, now add in op builds that can litterally one shot you, and are almost unavoidable assuming a very much expected lag, that would mean that if you wanted to play the game with your friend, you would most likely have to play only the bosses with him/her rather than the entire game as planned. now how's that for a fun experience? p.s.: also please note that usually co-op playthrough are done on first or at best second run, so the implication of the hosts using themselves op builds is stupid to say the least, they'd have to ruin their blind playthrough experience to do that, so either way that'd ruin the game for them.

Hyper armor is not poise. If my character is in medium armor while wielding twinblades (or anything) I shouldn't get staggered by rats. They could do like they did with half the rings (clutch, steel protection etc) and just nerf it for PvP. As it stands heavy armor is literally useless and VIT is a pointless stat. Playing through ringed city with light weapons was torture because enemies have ds1 poise and the player does not. I don't mind getting staggered, but me getting staggered after I've already hit an enemy wearing armor with lower poise than me and then being stunlock combo'd is straight up bullshit and makes the many, many ganks extremely frustrating SALT CITY
@RavenioTheHatamoto7 жыл бұрын
The lack of proper poise was the thing that I really hated about this dark souls. Literally, the only way was to use the Dark Knight Greatsword's weapon art to get a few seconds of poise.
@ronanvankessel63296 жыл бұрын
This way of poise is much better in pvp though. Instead of mindlessly tanking attacks and attacking when you see fit makes it so poise its a dumb waiting game, both for the poisefag and the victim. I however think it would be even better to have a middle ground between the two. Have poise be decreased for armours compared to the first game, but have the amount of poise given by armours increase by hyperarmour. That way a full havel wont get staggered by a throwing knife, but you cant blindly poise through everything because big weapons will cause a stagger unless youre in hyperarmour.

Reasons why Otzdarva's criticism is ill placed. 1. They wanted to give new players a big "WOW" to hook them into playing through the entire game. If you look at the trophy information throughout the series, a lot of new players give up after the first couple of areas. By making the game give players an "Anor Londo" moment early, instead of just a couple of ugly rats that poison you instantly, this insures a higher player base in the long term. Besides, DS3 has tons of other "Anor Londo Moments": Irithyl and the Dragon Shrine come instantly to mind. 2. Probably the hardest point to debate. I don't know why they backtracked on DS2's innovated NG+ cycles, but my guess is they wanted to let players get everything they needed out of the first NG cycle. The chalice dungeons from Bloodborne were a mistake, and the devs even gave us +3 rings in the DLC, to encourage easy character finalization. I've honestly made more characters in DS3 then in any other game because of this. 3. I've never had a problem with build diversity in this game. Sure, some builds are more common and acceable then others (Hence the prominence of straight sword wielding fallen knights) but if you're a fan of the game, speed running to get your build items is kind of what makes Dark Souls fun (And also rewards the player's efforts as mentioned in problem 2). Course, you still also have the option of having a friend drop the items for you at the start if you're a twinking degenerate. 4. Otzdarva, your PC gamer is showing. Dark Souls 3 is the ultimate homage to Demon's Souls, a game where Gimicky boss fights were part of the charm, and the legacy to the franchise. Not every boss needs to be some hype ass one V one roll fest. Be glad that every boss in 3 is a unique one. 5. You skipped 5, scrub. 6. Actually I agree. That said, you can kind of pull this shit off with facing away from enemies when casting homing soul mass. And it's also an incredibly cancerous tactic. (Lightning arrow was also hot fixed because of its cancer) So, maybe people would complain about magic more if they decided to do this. 7. People complained about DS2 being too "different" from its predecessor. I can't blame DS3 for adding so many throwbacks, especially since Dark Souls 1 was essentially a spiritual sequel to Demon's Souls, and had its own share of Yurt, Freke and Biore rip offs. Also Bloodborne DID have a Solaire. Two of them. Alfred and Valtr. The "It's poetry it rhymes" storytelling isn't going to disappear anytime soon. 8. allow me to retort every reason why they put a bonfire in that location: -Have fun running down those steps every time. -Have fun climbing that ladder every time. -Have fun running across that bridge every time. Don't criticize convenience. 9. Rolling is the LEAST of DS3 PVP's problems.

Yea and the 30-second Lothric castle bonfire is actually right after some challenging fights, no wonder if you skip those you'll feel that the bonfire placement is bad.
@baronvonbeandip6 жыл бұрын
3. Quality builds are the only effective choice until at least Sage's Coal or Profaned Coal. 8. b. Why couldn't the fire be at the top of the ladder? You still have to climb it if you die going to DS Armor or Oceiros. Lothric Castle bonfire is essentially useless. Dancer's needs to be placed up top. c. And yet you still have to run from DS Armor's to L&L. But, if you die in Grand Archives, running from DS would be dumb. The game needed more vertical structuring. Use the bonfires to get to major hubs but not litter them everywhere within hubs and make the interior of the hubs more interconnected. Cleansing Chapel or Dilapidated Bridge are kinda good examples.

"gimmicky bosses are the charm, we need these bosses. but also i dont want to have to walk too much so the bonfires are good" let me remind you of this. remember the first time you played dark souls 1, pushing through the map? you probably didnt see the stairs, and just went up. remember spending all that time going through, you find a clearing and you just beat a boss. its going well, now to light the next bonfire and keep goin- is that a fucking dragon? these experiences are something this game doesnt replicate. all through dark souls 3 they have been so scared of giving the player any real risk. if you die, your souls are about 1 minute away. almost all the bosses have shortcuts to get to them quicker and safer, most areas have several bonfires despite the place being 3 minutes long if you just run past everything. it gets pointless, and takes away from the experience. in a game like this, players should be BEGGING theres a bonfire soon, no one should ever ask "isnt there too many?" the fact anyone has is a sign they made the area too easy to get through. they were once safe places to heal and relax, now they are just a waypoint. to make this more clear, imagine if there wasnt 3 different ways to shortcut to the abyss watchers. half way fortress is the only one. now every time you die, you need to move through both the swamp and poison swamp. each time you go through, you learn the area better. you know how to get through without getting hurt, how to save health and estus for that boss. in stead, you have 2 bonfires within 1 minute of the boss to spawn at, making sure you have everything you need to face the boss. its kinda boring when you think about it, death becomes an annoyance instead of a real threat

I'm gonna be honest here, people greatly exaggerate the quality of Ds1 bosses. The only bosses I thought were actually good were Manus, Kalameet, Artorias, Quelaag (on first play through), O&S, Gwyn (arguably), and Sif. Almost every boss post Anor Londo was a fucking joke. All the Lord Soul bosses were piss-takes. I think the only reason people hype up Ds1 so much is because of the world design (Anor Londo and everything before it), and the DLC.

It's the same with DS3 to be honest dude. Both games had amazing DLC bosses, a great final boss fight, and excellent optional or late game bosses, but a lot that fall flat. I think they're pretty similar in boss quality though.
Guy Lloyd I think the thing that pulls DS3 bosses above DS1 on average is that everyone of them at least has a phase 2 where it feels like all hell breaks loose the fight time you go into the fight. Bosses feeling more thematically distinctive probably helps too.
@Oku9447 жыл бұрын
very good points, but the characters i kinda feel i have to nitpick. With Hawkwood it's not really a callback since ds2 aswell has a crestfallen guy, along with demon souls. A crestfallen dude is kind of a tradition. And with Leonard i can't really see any connection with Yurt and him. Leonard only kills one npc and Yurt slaughters huge amount of people in the Nexus. Overall good oints

I've found that almost every build (even dedicated miracle builds thanks to the arrow) has some measure of viability, which if nothing else is more than I can say for 1, despite it being my favorite entry.

Gimmick boss fights are actually how boss fights were originally designed in Demon's Souls.
@nathanjora76274 жыл бұрын
And that’s how they should be (not all of them fore sure, but having gimmicky boss fight is definitely a plus, at least when done well, which DS3 does) It’s bizarre too because DS3 also has the most insane boss (in the soul series, maybe not if compared to BB) in terms of reaction time needed. Dancer, dragon slayer armor, nameless king, twin princes, champion gundyr, even Aldrich can one to three shots certain build. I mean, he can one shot all builds in his second phase, but you have to get hit in the first place, and it’s far easier to escape than the other bosses’ one/three shot moves. And honestly these unnerve me far more than gimmicky bossfights let me down. Not because I can’t deal with them... Except Midir and Gael, but I need to kill an NPC to get to Gael so I’ll never get to fight him again, so only Midir. But just because it’s so stupid and unfair to have so many bosses with such high lethality. Like, I get why NK or Twin princes, or Aldrich should be able to kill you in one or two shots, but a random dancer ? I don’t care if she was transformed into a monster, that’s ridiculous. The same goes for the dragon slayer armor, especially with that bull second phase. Which is the thing that gets on my nerve most, and the part where DS3 totally forgot that experiences matter : don’t give a second phase to every goddamn bosses for Gwyn’s sake. Give it only to the special bosses. Give one to gundyr, or vordt, but not both, give one to sullyvahn, or dancer, but not both, give one to Wolnir or... No actually : give one to wolnir, does the poor bastard even have a second phase ? I fought him without hitting his jewelry, but I still don’t know :| Point being : second phases should be special. It’s like weapon arts, if every weapons could unleash torrents of flames or lightning or whatnot, nobody would give a damn about NK’s spear, or the moonlight greatsword, or the sword of judgement, etc.
4 жыл бұрын
In Demon's Souls gimmicky bosses meant that every boss had it's own way of playing (flamelurker gets stronger the more health he looses, Old Hero is blind and has to hear you to know your location, storm king flies and you can only hit him with a range weapon, old monk summons another player to fight, etc). It's not the same as having to one shot every boss to beat them.
@nathanjora76274 жыл бұрын
Ignacio Cañas ... When did anyone mention having to one shot a boss ? I mention having bosses that can one shot you, but in DS3 this is not the case for gimmicky bosses, like rotten greatwood, it’s the case for non gimmicky bosses, like NK, or Dancer. I guess you could say Lothric is a gimmicky boss fight, so that’d be the one gimmicky boss that can one shot you. But even then, I never said gimmicky bosses had to one shot you anyway.
@nathanjora76274 жыл бұрын
september Except there is no such boss in DS3 :| The most gimmicky bossfight is Rotten Greatwood, and it takes several hits, same for deacons, Crystal sages, Lorian and Lothric, the AW, etc. The only gimmicky bossfight in which you can (but aren’t forced to) one shot a boss is the ancient wyvern, and the video doesn’t even talk about it in the context of gimmicky bossfights. So even if that person was not responding to me (which I didn’t think he was, I thought he was answering to OC but since he could’ve also been answering to my comment I addressed this option), his comment is still weird because it doesn’t address anything in the video, since he speaks about having to one shot « every » bosses, whereas the video only speaks about *one* boss where you are forced to use the plunging attack, which you can do multiple times if you don’t fall on the head. And yeah, « every » was probably an exaggeration, but if it’s an exaggeration of « literally only one boss » it’s not an exaggeration anymore, it’s a lie.

#10 Don't block invasions after the boss of the area has been defeated, it sucked in Dark Souls 1 and was fixed in Dark Souls 2... but Miyazaki is extremely out of touch so he ignored it because "muh nostalgia". #11 WHY DO WEAPONS IN LEFT HAND BLOCK? Yeah, take this Parry Dagger with like 5 stability and 2% physical block and block with it, good luck... I'm not saying add Powerstancing Back (that would be swell, but too late for it) just make it so L1 is R1 and L2 is R2, it's all it takes to fix the weapons in left hand. #12 Add some real gestures, we don't need 5 ways to express joy, 4 different bows and 7 different ways to rest. We need "No Way!", "Look Skyward", "Well, what is it", "Mock", "Decapitation", "Stay Down" etc. #13 BONE... FIRE... ASCETICS!

Literally all that poise does in this game, from my understanding is, how many hits you can take from a certain weapon before being able to roll out. And then theres hyper armor during attack animations when youre using UGS. Its literally the stupidest thing and RUINS pvp. You lose all build diversity when the only thing you can have poise while attacking is UGS. not to mention its so damn fucking boring fighting UGS users, its the same fight every time. Run in a circle while they attack 3 times trying to bait you, then they roll and regain stamina. It's literally a fight of getting lucky and not trading a hit against them. DS3 Pvp makes me want to cockslap miyazaki

You start at lothric castle bc you're originally tasked to kill Lothric (obviously) - so you start there - at his castle. Only the old lady in the cathedral looks over lothric & she knows your plans, hence why she sends you away & so the journey begins. Everyone knows you can kill the old lady and start the Dancer boss fight prematurely. Pretty sure it supposed to be like that. Makes sense to me

I really disagree with #1. The High Wall of Lothric serves a completely different purpose. The point of starting you there is to show you the castle, then deny you access. You’ve seen it and now you want to go there, but you can’t yet (Unless you kill a particular NPC and win a tough boss fight). I don’t see what the problem is with showing it to you early. I mean, you do still get that big reveal of a beautiful location later with Irithyll, and then Anor Londo vol. 2.
