When my younger brother was around 3 years old, my mom was a Sunday studies teacher for the church. We were at the church, rehearsing for a choir when my brother wandered off a bit. He pushed his head through a hole in an ornate podium on the temple and got stuck. He panicked and started crying and thrashing. My mom couldn't get him out and was on the verge of tears herself. The rest of us were all kids, no one knew what to do. Then this man came in, we didn't see where from because we were all watching the situation. He didn't say a word, just put his hands around my brother's head and gently guided him out. My mom immediately huged my brother and was calming him and then turned to thank the stranger but he wasn't there anymore. She ran outside the temple, but he was nowhere to be seen. I saw him. My sister saw him. My mom and brother did (although my brother was too young and doesn't remember), and a bunch of kids from the choir were there too. I don't remember his face, but he was dressed in a gray suit. To this day, we all believe he was an angel.

I'm 100% sure that these descriptions of the seraphim, cherubim and thrones are originating from psychedelic experiences because they are exactly what you experience when consuming copious amounts of mushrooms and stuff. And I think that the strict hierarchical depictions and maybe even a few of the less archaic angel types are inventions to support the authoritarian nature of the church and stuff. I think a lot the old experiences and visions have been very real to the prophets but have been bastardized and twisted by the church to enforce a system that god if they exist would never have wanted.

@Jesus Pinillo It wasn't Jesus
@romxxii3 жыл бұрын
Not Jesus per se. Jacob alludes to having faced God Himself, as he names the place where they wrestled "The Face of God." Moreover, whether it was an angel or a deity who faced Jacob, they did so in the form of a man. Although the logistics of trying to wrestle a four-winged, four-wheeled, fiery angel would be at the very least, interesting.
@wahoostacos20953 жыл бұрын
@@DerickMasai Definitely is Jesus, there’s clear indicators that it is, and in the Hebrew it says that he literally wrestled God and met him face-to-face. That’s why he was renamed Israel by God. Israel literally means wrestles with God. Additionally A mere angel does not have the authority to rename a human being, if we go off the New Testament, Jesus declares to us that we have authority even over the angels, because were made in the image of God. God gives us dominion over this earth and in the garden of Eden he gave Adam the power to name everything that was created. Therefore, logically the only person who can overrule the name that was bestowed by man is God.
@DerickMasai3 жыл бұрын
@@wahoostacos2095 Exactly. Everything you said is very correct except for alluding that it is Jesus. This is pure conjecture. The passage speaks of God, not Jesus. And as you can recall God is the one who interacted with man more in the Old Testament so I simply don't know where you're getting this other than your own assumptions.

I'm a firm believer that the bible is almost all allegory to something else other than the fantastical elements which could be explained as translation errors over the years of translating from one language to another. (It also could be seen as maybe Aliens as well, since the description of the ophanim being rings within rings that are on FIRE with eyes around the rings and an individual in the centre sounds A LOT like the traditional idea of what a flying saucer with a passenger looks like.) And seriously, if you think about it - wouldnt an alien say some shit like "be not afraid" to some primitive societies that probably WOULD perceive them as gods or angels after doing some in-vitro fertilization and having a virgin birth would certainly reinforce that idea. While on the ski lift...thing, his scarf got caught in the pulley system or whatever pulls the lil swing things along, and was slowly starting to strangle him as it pulled tighter and tighter around his throat. Suddenly, two girls in white puffy winter coats walked up to the emergency stop button and pressed it, allowing my dad to be saved. Afterward, my dad and his parents wanted to find the girls to thank them for saving his life, but they were told that no one else had seen the girls, and there were no girls at the lodge matching that description. Furthermore, there were no footprints seen in the snow leading up to or away from the emergency stop button. My dad holds the firm belief to this day that those two girls were guardian angels who saved his life that day.

My grandpa and two uncles once encountered two angels that helped to fix their truck in snowy conditions but were not dressed for the weather. A similar thing happened to my father. He was taking a long drive in the dead of night on an empty highway. And he saw some sort of place off the road so he pulled over thinking maybe he could get some gas. So he hopped out and it was very eerie and incredibly dark, and he was already scared, and he kept walking until he was walking on stone and suddenly saw a weeping angel statue and saw a creepy sign that read Newman’s cemetery. He ran back to the truck, looked both ways and there was no cars, then was about to fill up the tank with his emergency can of gas when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turns around and there’s a mustached cop and a cop car right behind his truck with a completely identical cop leaning against the hood. They said to him something like “You shouldn’t stop on roads like this at night.” And he got in his truck and left. He looked in his review mirror, and the car and the cops were gone.

I was going outside to the bus stop to get to work. I was feeling completely awful and guilty because I did something I shouldn't have done the night before. I sat down and the snow began to fall. I averted my eyes for a moment and when I looked up a man was coming near. He had brilliant eyes. I had never met him before. He asked me "can I pray for you." I said yes. He prayed for me and then he ran down the sidewalk away from me. It was so bizarre but incredibly comforting. My shame melted away as he prayed. To my knowledge I've never seen him again. The amount of peace I felt after that stuck with me through out the day and for many days afterwards. I'll never forget that interaction.

Really that's not spoken about Christian mythology is how the morning star or Lucifer as you call it is actually the manipulated. He is the embodiment of pride and when you have a very prideful person it's not too hard to manipulate them and the angel that manipulated Lucifer to rebellion is still residing in heaven. It's one of the Divine angels and it's related to exploitation looks for weakness in every thing. Yep, and people wonder why angels are so scary and noisy. We have meteorologists and wifi and asphalt roads and central heating. They had hysterical clergymen and other narcissists praying on fear and misunderstanding. "Hear the wind? Scared yet? It's an angel, checking up on you, you better not cheat on me or he'll eat your legs and will let you walk on crutches forever, even in the afterlife!" And people still fall for that shit and go to churches and pray... :s The self awareness of people is as rare as any effect of any god or angel: completely absent from the entire history of the universe.

@someoneidk30811 ай бұрын
@@DevanAshborneI'm not the person you asked, but I'll answer anyway lol. I don't believe there is a higher power personally, at least not in the traditional manner of a being overseeing life and being responsible for creating it. I believe in certain vague concepts such as mother nature- not in the sense that mother nature controls or actively influences us, but that it connects us with nature and other living things. This doesn't mean that everything is equal, it just means I respect that everything out there is trying to survive. From viruses, to parasites, to fish, birds, etc. We all share a common goal of wanting to continue to survive. Anyways. If there is a higher power out there in the traditional sense, I cannot believe that they are a "Good" being. I think they'd have to be a neutral being. I've never been able to prescribe to the belief that bad things happen to good people for a reason. I can't live with that. To me it's much more comforting to think that bad things simply happen sometimes, and that's alright, We just have to figure out how to keep going.

@@someoneidk308 wow that’s a really fascinating point of view and I love that! Some Christians do believe god is only good but are actually taught to fear god in a manner. @@DevanAshborneI’m not religious, but I have a personal idea or belief that the universe itself is an entity in some manner, and we all exist and are conscious as an extension of that. We are what brings life to the universe, existence itself. I like to hear these stories and descriptions, but the bible is a book written by people about things I’ve never seen and experienced, about things that they may have experienced and not understood. The only thing I know is I exist, and I guess in a sense that is my religion, that all there is is existence and we are manifestation of it. If something exists and nothing perceives it…. Then does it really exist?
@Chargedolt10 ай бұрын
@@DevanAshborne I also have no belief in any higher power. I think we're simply a product of the natural order of things, a lovely coincidence. I don't do good things out of fear of hell or a need to reach an afterlife - I just do good because it's the right thing to do. In my eyes, that is the purest form of kindness, far more than any religious doctrine, because those force incentive.

Wholesome info from a wholesome source. 12/10. The concept of having an angel by your side is so comforting. Also the concept that one's purpose is not within this life, but the next, is also comforting. The world can feel so lonely and isolating. I was once told to meditate on a question and listen for the answer. I did so, asking what my purpose is, and heard something that confused me- "sing of love." Hearing @Wendigoon say the words "heavenly choir" immediately took on a personal meaning, especially as a person struggling to find purpose in this world. 'My purpose is not in this life, but the next.' Maybe earth is where we learn to sing.

I think the most special thing about humanity when compared to angels, is the way that God created us. Angels, like all other days of creation, are made impersonally, simply through God's voice or words. However, the first humans were literally made with God's own hands and breath, in His own image in an intimate fashion... as if all other things and beings before our creation is truly catered for us. This emphasizes God's love to humanity, and why He treats us differently compared to other created beings like angels(we seem to have much more free will and more chances to redeem ourselves from sin, unlike Satan).

That's one reason I wish Kamiya was more involved with the series. He loves Biblical lore or someone on his team. He's at least familiar with Dante's Inferno. Also as far as anime, manga, and one thing that no doubt influenced DMC goes. DevilMan was the original rivalry. I know other stories do it in Japanese folklore but DevilMan is one thing that started it. It's got a lot of Christian imagery and at the end the main villain is revealed as Lucifer after he's been cast out of Heaven.

I believe Wendigoon misspoke when he said, "over the body of Moses" cause the point of that encounter was that the devil didn't know where God had Moses buried and was asking Michael about the burial place.
