A true American time capsule. Owned by a famous craftsman who’s furniture you can find in museums today. The home was built in 1775 and last occupied in the 1970s. Each room of this magnificent home has a story to tell on its own even with just the furniture alone. Ever since the home was built it was passed down many generations. Each family member was very Artistic and talented in their own way weather it be music, art, or craftsmanship. When the home was last inhabited they had a problem with hoarding animals especially cats. The home was later condemned and left to rot with everything inside including what I believe to be over one million dollars of antiques and even hand written letters dating back as far as 1861. This home should be a museum. Let’s explore and see what else there is to discover.

My genealogist heart breaks for all the history just sitting there rotting. There are groups dedicated to hooking people up with photos, family bibles and more. It's so sad this isn't being shared. Even sadder if there is living family that just don't care.

#1 Did you notice the flag only had 45 stars. It makes it a real old flag. #2 The old bible is called a family Bible. They were gifted to newly weds as wedding presents so they could record everything from births to deaths and all in between. That started before paper records were kept. #3 The square grand is actually the size of a standard Grand only turned sideways. If you noticed the keyboard was at the end instead of the middle. That was to accommodate the harp board inside. They were built for wealth families so they could have the big sound inside of a smaller room. A friend of mine had a baby square in her home. It was half the size of the one in this video. The carving on this one is mind blowing. Thank you for another fantastic video. It definitely needs to be made a museum before it falls apart or someone helps it fall.

@@IsitMe65 when I paused it, it was because the flag didn't look right. The field was good and opened and I could clearly count the stars. The pattern was short long instead of long short. The square piano's were made in the mid to late 19th century. They were often referred as "coffin pianos," because when they were closed they looked like coffins. This specific Rococo Victorian style piano made by Henry F. Miller was one of the finest of the old Boston manufacturers. If this was restored this piano because of the superior craftsmanship could go for almost $30-$50,000.00. This wood looks like it's Brazilian Rosewood. This piano is around the 1880's to late 1880's.

What I found.. The Henry F Miller co. produced high end pianos. This square grand was made between 1888-1889. Unrestored it fetches between $500-$20000. Fully restored up to $35000, which are pretty healthy figures. The invention of the "upright piano" took the place of this type of piano.

Re the piano, In the last part of the 18th Century, John Jacob Astor started importing Square Grand Pianos to America from Europe. By the turn of the 19th Century, a handful of makers are recorded as having made some of the first Square Grand Pianos in America. At the time, they cost $800 or the cost of a house.

It looks like it might actually have been set up as a historic showpiece at one time, as some of those things are obviously put there deliberately for show. Sometimes funds run out for the operation of such places. Quite tragic if it goes to waste! ❤ The hooks would've been for candle chandeliers rather than electric lights. Quite nice! And something I just recently learned - if it's a bullet in a casing that hasn't been fired, it's called a "cartridge". The "bullet" is what comes out of the gun when you fire it. I didn't know that before yesterday, myself. Thought you might appreciate the lingo lesson. Thanks for the amazing tour! It was fantastic!

Magnificent old house. You say it was last occupied in the 70's - seems like it would have been very dated to live there then. Looks like the floors were painted which I think was common at one time. Also with all the furniture against the walls, another thing that would date it and I've seen the beds angled in the corner in other old houses. The kitchen doesn't look like you could be cooking, etc, much from maybe 1930's up to when last occupied. I love all the old books and the old trunks (I have one that was my grandmothers and I slept in her old brass bed til a weld broke several years ago). I have to ask was there no bathroom? I would have to spend a day, maybe 2, just taking it all in. Did you happen to look in the very front of the Bible? In old ones like that there was probably some family history (I had one that was my husbands grandmothers and it had all the family listed in it). Love your enthusiasm!!!! Best one I've seen.

Hello fellas, good video as always. I'm an antique buff so here goes...Is the furniture worth millions? No. The square grand could be worth a lot only after an expensive restoration. The deer head buffet is valuable, and the long couch in the main parlor is an American Empire Swans neck piece that is highly collectable. Most of the other pieces are pretty standard for the time and not really that valuable. However in the main parlor it looks like one or two of the painted portraits might be colonial primitive (I can't really tell) and these might really be worth something. To me the most valuable thing is the intact colonial stairway. Again, I always admire your excitement and zeal. Thanks!

That old square grand is probably worth a fortune. It is a shame someone can't get it and clean it up and tune it. I am a pianist and kept wanting him to play a note to see if it still works. Of course, temperature changes would make it horribly out of tune and likely mice have eaten away the inside of the piano making it unplayable. I visited an old mansion in the south that is cared for and they have a very rare piano that is worth 2 million dollars! The frame is in excellent condition, but many keys are broken. If a home such as this were condemned for cats, there is no way anything could escape the scent. Even if you professionally steam treated, you would still have that scent. And those precious items would not survive such harsh cleaning. Or from my experience with my cats, once you know, you KNOW. So, I think surely there must be some confusion. It would be a travesty as well in this case especially.

A beautiful house. I love the cool wall paper on the first floor. The living room is my favorite room in the house. Love all the picture's on the walls, the craftsmanship of the piano is beautiful, and the cupboard with the deer head is a beautiful piece. I hope somebody saves all them antiques, they need to be enjoyed by other's, not left to decay.

Someone must have been looking after this home since the 1970's, because it is not as decayed as one might expect for over 50 years without any occupants. It is worth trying to trace any family members who might be interested in turning it into a museum.

Such a beautiful house, an incredible find. It’s literally like a time capsule, it’s as if someone has laid things out for you to find, displayed as if it were a museum or instillation, seems like so many houses are left like this particularly in Europe….all very mysterious. It’s a shame you didn’t check out the letters etc to find some dates in time. There was an orange piece of paper on one of the chest of draws in a bedroom with writing on it that looked like modern writing, I wonder what was written on it?…. Could it have been a clue? It looks like this house has been abandoned for years and years literally,. I get the feeling the inhabitants, the couple were from Europe, possibly Russia, they were well to do, middle class. It’s really interesting that the little papier-mâché wagons…something to do with pioneers? It’s as if ghosts are living here still. What was the kitchen and bathroom like? This would have given an indication of dates, food especially tins of food, sell by date, also if the kitchen had been modernized at some time, 30’s 40’s 50’s whatever, but you didn’t show this so it’s impossible to estimate how long this amazing house and it’s amazing contents have been abandoned, such a shame, also in the kitchen there could have been an old calendar. I’d say that couple died a very long time ago, perhaps the house has been left to an eccentric person, who knows!. But it would be criminal to condemn this beautiful house with all the fabulous antiques and memories, this place should be a museum for sure!

I agree, the house & contents should be historic museum. The wood cook stove is very old. I was tickled to see the iron (for clothing) we had to heat on the stove. I am so very annoyed the schools are only teaching printing. Young folks cannot read cursive writing. This is not intended to criticize the young man. He does wonderful videos. I love to watch. For his age he takes interest in the past age of history. I love that.

@MaryS Ferguson just wanted to say, here in KY, my 9 year old grandson just started taking his spelling tests each week in cursive...they just began learning the cursive hand this past fall however, of 3rd grade. Agree...digital and electric will one day be lost, imo.

Isabella Rosetta We did see the kitchen which was very dated. The large cook stove looks very much like the one that was in my house when l bought it. It’s probably from the turn of the century or even later. It looks obvious to me due to the layout and the furniture and other items and the fireplace that it is probably mid 1800’s. The dining area is huge and that huge carpet in there was done on a loom then stitched together. It looks like it’s been abandoned for years. Often in cases of houses like these, when they become untidy and disheveled, it is often because the owners are elderly and can’t keep up with the cleaning, who knows, maybe the last owners didn’t have children.

First, I am so glad you appreciate the contents of homes like this and film things respectfully. Holy cow! This place is a museum. I recognized some old china patterns, some depression glass, a spindle bed, a kitchen\Hoosier cabinet, and other items. The square grand piano, the old flag, and the sideboard with the deer head and marble top were amazing. The family Bible was, too. Usually on the first few pages in the Bible were pages to record births, weddings, and deaths. That would have given you information on the family members. My brother has my grandfather's with entries dating back to 1900. Thank you so much for these videos. They are small history lessons and I am really enjoying them.

WOW! That was amazing to watch. Time capsule for sure. Some beautiful things for their time. Noticed somethings from the '50's. so someone must have been living there at some point after it was abandoned initially. Much of it "staged" by previous visitors. Glad nothing was really taken or destroyed. Thanks for sharing. Doesn't seem to be Haunted so that's a good thing. Stay Safe!
