The Abandoned Buddhist Temple in Pattaya, Thailand

This is the strange story of the abandoned Buddhist temple in Pattaya. The Djittabhawan Temple could have been a beautiful temple if it had been completed. The rusty steel beams and graffitied concrete columns are a stark contrast to the peaceful setting on a pier in the sea. The story of the temple's abandonment is also interesting. It seems like the project was simply too ambitious and ended up costing more than the monks could afford. I'm also curious about the local laws that have stopped the temple's revival. Now it seems like a shame that such a beautiful building has been left to ruin. Perhaps one day the Djittabhawan Temple will be finished. It would be a great addition to the Pattaya City skyline and a popular tourist destination.
