What makes us human beings is our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Recovery from anxiety lies in dealing with our feelings. Disregard the anxiety feelings of “you’re no good, you’re immoral, you’re a jerk”, and follow the good feelings that you have about the choices you make for your life and learn to trust in your decision-making skills. Do this and it will change your thoughts and behaviors and you will feel better.

It's pretty ease for me to dismiss negative thoughts and feelings with people who are over open with me. I see everything as on the table and close. However, I dont know if this is even a normal thing to need from others. I can see my level of emotional investment and think meh they probably didn't here me if it's like an old coworker. If it's someone more important in my life that's when I stuggle.

your videos are really good. Can CBT be used against addiction? it would be good if you can upload some videos to overcome addictions thank you
@SelfHelpToons3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! CBT is often used to treat addictions. I've been thinking about a few topics related to addiction, so maybe I'll make some videos in the new year and see how they do.

This is why I've learnt if your sentence starts with I thought....the rest of what you have to say is your own interruption and may not actually coincide with the reality of things. 😊

Hello! I just started working with your CBT course. I would like to know what the "action" part (what you are doing/not doing)would be for this scenario.
@SelfHelpToons Жыл бұрын
Which scenario are you wondering about?
@sophiahoho8918 Жыл бұрын
@@SelfHelpToons Thank you for asking. I wrote down the following on the CBT Interrrelationships sheet. (Trigger) I heard from my friend that her friend drove her to a nice cafe and they had a nice time there. (Feelings) I envy that she has a friend like that. I am not good at socializing. I am always alone. (Body ) Heavy and then I did not know what to write in the (Action) box. I did not take a particular action for it. In general, what comes in the action/behavior box ?
@sophiahoho8918 Жыл бұрын
I just found out in your page that the (Action) refers to " How we're acting/behaving". So in my case I did not take particular action towards the Trigger, so I just leave it blank? What does it mean that I did not take a particular action or behavior? Can I just go on filling the CBT Interrelationships sheet like this?
@SelfHelpToons Жыл бұрын
Actions and behavior are just whatever you did in response to the trigger. Sometimes we do things that make us feel worse, sometimes we do things that help us feel better, and sometimes our actions and behaviors are just neutral. If we're doing something that makes us feel worse we want to change what we're doing. And if there's something we could be doing that would help us feel better then we do that. If you weren't doing anything in response to your trigger, you can still write down whatever you were doing, like watching TV or eating dinner or working etc
@sophiahoho8918 Жыл бұрын
@@SelfHelpToons Thank you so much. That I get a response from you is extremely encouraging. I feel supported.

I was given a sheet that also goes into the "dispute" in this ABC worksheet. Can you explain what should be written there? Would it be about other ways of looking at the situation rather than your own ill-formed initial beliefs? Thanks
@SelfHelpToons Жыл бұрын
I have a couple of posts about that with videos and worksheets starting at www.selfhelptoons.com/thought-record-thought-diary-in-cbt/
@susandecenzo9435 Жыл бұрын
@@SelfHelpToons Thank you, so much, for your swift response :)
Since CBT also recognizes the consequences of behavior, you could replace Beliefs with Behavior, but the ABC model comes from Albert Ellis's Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, which is the original CBT, where B stands for Beliefs. You can read about his ABC(DEF) model here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rational_emotive_behavior_therapy#Beliefs_about_circumstances,_and_disputing_the_beliefs
