Thanks JM. For what’s it worth, I think you were very fair. I have this Bible and use it in the way you outlined. No one Bible does everything so accepting the Abide Bible as what it’s designed to be works well. It is a beautiful Bible and IMO, the NET is a good translation to read. Good review! I have this Bible and love it mostly (I admit) for the artwork. Likewise, I wish there was more! I have an aunt who was rather a famous artist, who’s work is in every major art museum in NYC as well as in museums all over the world-Europe, Israel, and in various art collectors personal collections. So, I grew up having a love for art. I agree, that it’s a good Bible to have for devotional reading-just as you said. 👍

I got one. Its all about the john 15 4, abiding in him for fruit bearing. It nurtures the readers to get into the shoes of that very particular scripture. For ex Ezekiel 47, making the readers to visualize the knee level, hip level anointing by exercising the faith. It is not a study bible, it makes efforts to abide in christ. To reason the NET translation one has to buy Full notes edition, we shouldn't expect notes along with abide sections in this bible, then it would be 4000 + pages. So full notes edition has its own purpose, and abide bible is all about I in you and You in me. Remember Gen 6:3 says God spirit cannot abide in us and his plan is fulfilled in John 15:4 through Christ. What a herculean task and the mission accomplished. God bless phil collins. I have nkjv abide Bible - not sure if it's the same as I,um haven't abided in it yet LOL! print size and art didn't grab me at the time and I had other Bibles I was more drawn to. I do like NET translation though- I'm using the Love God Greatly NET Bible - not so much for the SOAP method and articles but for the extra writing space! those pages come in handy to put sticky notes over! well just finished the review and I think I'm gonna hunt mine up LOL!. I've justnever really known what to 'do' with art...

Editions of the NET Bible that leave out the translator notes are a valiant effort to make "fetch" happen, I suppose. But it's one of the translations that seems to lose much of its identity when the notes are taken away, much like the NKJV, the NABRE, or the [New] Jerusalem Bible. I guess the NET remains unique simply for being the most prominent Evangelical version to translate Isaiah 7.14 properly (or improperly, depending on your view of that issue).
