I just can't imagine knowing that your analog sticks are causing all these problem, likely by having no central deadzones set, and not just figuring out how to run it with a dpad. Anyway, great series for a great game. Truly one of a kind, and it's a shame that copyright law means it could never reach the heights it deserved.

Always bittersweet to go back to old fanmade 80’s throwbacks like these before corporations caught onto the fact that middle aged white dudes will buy anything with Sloth from The Goonies on it and based all future products on exploiting that

This game is *just as crazy* as I remember from '09 or whenever it came out. Huge labor of love like they said. This was one of the most talked about projects on Newgrounds for years.

I'm kinda sad you only found this now, so you won't have nostalgia for it. I played it when it first came out and it hit me like a truck. It was the best flash game on newgrounds by a mile and the jokes, well, it was the sense of humor of its time, they still hit hard, but not as hard as when it first came out.

I've noticed this. Controllers have NO WHERE near the same accuracy as the old NES and SNES controllers. In fact, I don't think they have the same accuracy as PS1 or PS2 either. I've been going back to older games on newer hardware and it's just infuriating. Companies. Knock off the shoddy controller work. Just because more recent games don't require as much twitch reflexes doesn't give the excuse for shit work on expensive hardware.

He said in the first video that he is using analog controls because he couldn't get the dpad to work. I think that is the culprit here.

n64 had the best joystick ever. no deadzone, a tiny movement equals a tiny movement in the game. not nothing and then suddenly a huge movement.
@brocka.6479

It entirely depends on the controller and who's making it. 8bitdo is one of a very few that I think gets it right these days.
@kendrakirai
@kendrakirai Ай бұрын
The problem is that on PC the analog sticks are detected as the main controls, and the D pad is a secondary set of switches that a lot of programs can't even register anymore, and when they can, it's a HAT switch - what was used to switch visual angles. Combine that with the D pads largely being crap to begin with and you have the current control problems on older games.

When Kirby was "barfing" it was the obscure to most that tickled me pink. One of them, for example, was the "Watermelon Boss" from the NES Game "Stinger" which has a special place within my history as a kid because it had unforgettable bosses throughout such as a Faucet, a Boombox, et al. One of the few refrences that I did not see and was looking out for (and may have overlooked it?) was to another favorite pastime of mine on NES, which is Legendary Wings. Overall such a great passion project this turned out to be, and I thank Jared, for showcasing it for us as I was unaware of its existence prior!

I think the funniest part is that, big mac is actually canon AFTER this was made. In the wii punch out in multiplayer, you can trigger one of the two players to become big mac, which is kind of hilarious. Granted, I don't know if big mac happens at all anytime before than so, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's still a fun lil thing

You know what I think it's time for? A randomizer. It's been over a month since the last one so we're past due. How about the zelda randomizer (omega) by HeroOfFire. It's a great zelda 1 rando with a shitload of new items, whole new dungeons, whole new overworlds, lots of secret stuff, tons of new enemy types and its super customizable. It can also be as long or as short as you want.

So, who is Aboboy's mother? We saw Zelda get vomited up by Kirby, and they murder Samus at the end, which they wouldn't have done if she was the mom. Linda from the Double Dragon games is a possibility, but she probably only likes bottoms. I think the only NES human character we don't see in the game is Peach.

a lot of analog sticks have a small amount of bounceback when you let go from a full tilt, so as you become more panicked, it may be possible that it is reading phantom inputs from the bounceback. Not to mention the lack of accuracy with full circle directional reading, where if you do not travel in the exact direction when a game only has 4 or 8 way processing, it could register a slight down and to the right, as a down first, instead of right.
