Something like that wouldn't have enough gravity to work annually, but the as things stand SEC/B1G isn't consolidated enough to work either. This FSU situation is unique. Given the snub and that a natty is claimed not crowned, the optimum would be FSU beating GEORGIA and then having a legitimately disputed claimed championship. Unless FSU is contractually obligated to respect that CFP outcome.

@@igorlobkovenko9480 It's really only the Super 2 and everyone else. This has been a long time coming because the Playoff Committee already doesn't respect the Big12 and ACC because they are no different then the G-5. The only reason why Texas got in is because they are going to the SEC and they beat Bama at home by double digits. So Disney/ESPN had to do their riggery to protect their financial interests.

@@roris5882 No. The new BIG12 is Tier 2, while the current ACC remains Tier 1. This happened because the right thing would have left the SEC out. Some speculate that FSU was easier to do wrong because of its loud barking. Nevertheless, if the corruption can't be remedied, one must adjust to the corruption, at least short-term. Also, the revenue gap would have continued the consolidation without this situation.

FSU fan here- ACC record against SEC schools this year 6-4, so yes the lowly ACC owned the SEC in wins versus losses. FSU has beat 8 teams this year that will go to a bowl game. Kirk Herbstreet started the campaign to leave FSU out of the top 4 before Travis got hurt ESPN gives the committee their marching orders since the SEC brings in more tv revenue. FSU has voiced wanting to leave the ACC has pissed off ESPN since they own the ACC networks and with FSU leaving the conference that would bring the majority of the eye balls with them. Bama had to have a luck play against a 6-6 Auburn team, Texas beat Bama and Texas got beat by a mediocre Oklahoma team. FSU beat LSU by a much bigger score than BAMA. The committee penalizing FSU for Travis going down is complete BS! FSU d is one of the tops in the country.

a) The +3 is an ACC acknowledgement that it will deplete down to the Tier 2. ESPN surely refused to renegotiate a new current market deal, so it accepted the eventual depletion down as well. b) The clear snub suggests FSU does not have a pending B1G invite, as why wouldn't the BIG then favor future member FSU over BAMA. The snub could suggest a pending SEC invite, but the SEC decided to favor the current BAMA. c) The snub definitely suggests that FSU is not as big a brand as it thinks it is and/or its loud barking has harmed its reputation and lowered respect, To be clear, FSU was robbed, and SEC bias is now confirmed. Bigfoot has been caught, and all those discounted sightings are now more credible.

The top 13 teams are all B10 or SEC teams (including future teams) minus Florida State. It is actually fairly incredible. FSU has to look at that and be like "welp." If you look at that from any other conference, the messaging is clear.

This common defense of BAMA's inclusion evidences how poor a basketball conference the SEC is. This situation is rather common when top brands have down years, get a controversial bid as a bubble, and then make some sort of run. The argument is always "they should have never gotten a bid in the first place", a rational argument but with far less significant consequences when contrasted with a 4-team playoff. The other problem is that BAMA bumping FSU just confirms the suspected SEC bias which had been more subtle. Actual outcome isn't really the best test of a reasonable decision looking forward rather than in hindsight. Fighting the last war often ends in early defeats. The assumed best at the start doesn't always, if even usually, win at the end.

will UGA beat FSU, especially with their back up..yes..BUT, that still isnt a reason why they got robbed..BAMA had 2 losses..IDC if they beat UGA...FSU was unbeaten..their resume should have gotten them in over BAMA...but, i still think UGA should have retained their spot in the CFP over BAMA....if TCU can lose its conference title game last year and still make the CFP, then UGA should have stayed in as well

FSU was jobbed, but I think people are missing a major part of this. Perhaps the committee is trying to make it as hard as possible on Michigan to win the whole thing. I can't imagine they want the NC vacated. With FSUs QB situation, they are much less likely to beat Michigan.

No way in Hades FSU should be in the playoffs without their Heisman caliber QB who was largely responsible for beating the best teams on the schedule. @@delema835 A one loss team beating the #1 team in the CFB rankings in its conference championship game and moving up accordingly, is to be expected. It’s a predictable outcome. FSU falling following a win, was not. We agree that winning on the field matters. The committee made the rules of being undefeated, and the conference championship game is automatically in the playoffs series. This needs to be seriously addressed because committee members just showed favoritism to the SEC and not the ACC conference champ. College football is looking really dark. Bowl games are going to be meaningless, and star athletes are going to opt out of them because they're looking to get ready for the next level of professional league.

Should be two national championships to make it more interesting. Not one but two national titles if you are overlooked like Florida State. Divide the championship like college basketball like the NIT tournament. This would make the bowl games more interesting and popular. I know that they're going to the twelve team tournament. This should've been installed a long time ago. I hope that Florida State comes out swinging and represents the ACC conference in good fashion.

Alabama has not shown they were better. Do we need to keep bringing up Auburn, Arkansas (at home), USF, Texas A&M, and of course a 10 point loss at home. Then they play a crippled UGA receiver core in the conference championship. Maybe UGA needs to be viewed as a team that wasn't the same due to injuries as FSU was. This joke of a committee still had FSU at 4 knowing Travis was done two weeks ago and FSU continued to win. This was a back pocket excuse they had in the event UGA lost.
