Great story. Sad ending but could have ended worse. The guy who plays Randy (Evan Peters - One of my favourite actors of all time) also played Jeffrey Dahmer in the movie Monsters and some very strange characters in American Horror Story. Jerry was lucky to only have been involved in a bank robbery (…and die).

Well not everybody had pagers back then (I didn’t know anybody with one except for my uncle that was a doctor for emergencies). and the story only makes sense before the cellphone was a thing in the 90s..so you basically found the answer yourself
