Thank You SO much for this video! I feel like you just described every ache and pain that I've been having. I recently started having terrible pain in my knees plus unbearable sinus pain and headaches. I also feel like I'm an old lady and I'm only 52. Some days I feel as though I have pain all over. I have a chronic illness that causes inflammation in my bowels and hormone fluctuations have always affected my bowels, especially bad PMS when I was younger. I didn't have a period for over 18 months, but now I've started having PMS symptoms again and occasionally have a period, mso my hormones are completely up and down. Unfortunately due to my bowel disease I'm not able to use most supplements because they either don't get absorbed properly, or completely upset my bowels and cause more problems. Exercising more often is my goal to help strengthen my muscles and hopefully will also help with terrible fluid retention. **Fizzy Drinks...in Canada we call them Pop....most people are aware of how much sugar are in these drinks, but I never hear anyone explaining to the public just how much sodium carbonated drinks contain...some have 15-25mg of sodium in a regular size can of pop, so I can't imagine how much is in a large drink from a fast food restaurant. One pop and my fingers start to swell almost immediately so those are off limits for me. I love your videos and appreciate all the information you share, keep up the great work spreading awareness about hormones. 🌻

i first had symptoms similar to perimenopause in my 30s but recently being diagnosed with thyroid disease. i now have other different symptoms which are not related to thyroid as it is back to normal. it seems that there are many health issues that can overlap with the menopause so get check them with the doctor first.

@AvogelCoUk

Hi Sallyanne This is a difficult question to answer as it is different for every woman. The average time is about 5 years but for some women it is less and for others longer. However, for those whose menopause goes on for a long time, very often there are other health issues involved so the more you can take care of yourself the better in the long run!

It is worth getting this checked out by a chiropractor first just to make sure there is nothing else going on with your spine that may be contributing to the pain. In the meantime, you may find the Devils Calw may be of benefit and I would also suggest a calcium and magnesium supplement - 500mg calcium & 200mg Magnesium approx. Best wishes, Eileen.

Thank you so much. I feel back pains almost everyday, specially when I have anxiety. Is iron deficiency a symptom of menopause or is menopause affect the iron supply in our body? How about our eyesight? My eyes aches and have eyebags.
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Loida, Low iron can often occur in the menopause especially if you had heavy periods in the peri-menopause or if you are vegetarian or vegan. It is not advisable to take an iron tonic unless you’ve been tested and are anaemic; because you no longer get periods you can end up taking more than you need which could cause problems as well. Eyes can often be affected like this; you may find a supplement called Sea Buckthorn oil capsules can help and you could use our soothing eye drops. Bags under the eyes can often indicate dehydration so remember to drink plenty of plain water every day! www.omega7.co.uk info on the Sea Buckthorn www.avogel.co.uk/herbal-remedies/extra-moisturising-eye-drops/

Hi Zoe I tend not to recommend IF, the hormonal changes can have a huge impact on blood sugar control so leaving a long gap between eating can cause sugar/carb cravings, bingeing and also affect the nervous system leading to anxiety, panic attacks and poor sleep. I have posted a vlog on belly fat and a good book to read is The Metabolism Miracle by Diane Kress (on Amazon) www.avogel.co.uk/health/menopause/videos/menopause-belly-fat-and-how-to-lose-it/ Best Wishes Eileen

Hi i've just found Eileen and your channel in March 2023! I am watching the aches and pains videos. Can I ask please if lower abdominal pain/feeling of strain could be thought of as perimenopause? I'm 49 and still having regular periods. I went to GP who did blood test for Ovarian cancer marker, negative. In a nutshell the pain feels like the sides of my tummy, and the top of my groin are being pulled/strained. I take ibuprofen and use a hot water bottle! I guess I am seeking some reassurance this type of pain IS connected to perimenopause. I feel like if I know what it is, I can learn to accept it. Thank you Eileen/A.Vogel if you are able to reply. Sarah.
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk Жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah Did your doctor also physically examine you to see if it could be a prolapse, cysts/polyps or fibroids? If not, please do go back to them and ask for this or they may organise a scan/ultrasound. Very often, as hormones change, fibroids can become more evident or even grow bigger if you had them already, polyps and cysts can also develop and they can all cause this kind of discomfort. Either is a really common occurrence in the peri-menopause and can be easily controlled. It could also be a prolapse; this is where the bowel, or womb or bladder 'shifts' position in the pelvic area and this too, can cause the same kind of symptoms. It's always best to get any of these diagnosed properly so you know the best way to treat them. Best Wishes Eileen

Muscle aches and pains can often indicate low magnesium which is really common in the menopause. You may find a magnesium supplement, approx. 200mg twice a day can help quite quickly. However, if it doesn’t show any improvement after a couple of weeks then it is best to get this checked out by your doctor just in case it isn’t related to the menopause.

Hi Carolyn Taking a specific hair supplement can often be of benefit (see www.vitalbiotics.com) and just check your diet to make sure that you are getting plenty of health fresh foods and protein to give your body all the nutrients it needs for healthy hair. Also see your doctor about this, if you haven’t done so already, to test your iron, vitamin D, B12 and thyroid function as low levels of any of these could affect hair growth.

You will have to see a dermatologist but they will give you shots of Cortisone in the bald spots of your head. It could take up to 3 to 6 months to see results. The second option is getting women Rogaine from cvs, Walgreens, Target etc..... You can do all above. Best wishes.🌺

Is it normal to still have a period at age 57 ?
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 5 жыл бұрын
Although it is not so common to have periods this late a small number of women do. Very often this is hereditary so you may find other close female relatives were still having periods at this age. However, if you are worried at all please do see your doctor. Best wishes, Eileen.

My sister's last period was when she was 58. I had my last period two years ago when I was 56. It can very well be hereditary yet my mother stopped at age 53. Just now starting to get joint pains and muscle aches, and drier skin. Mid life is definitely a trying time.

Hi Amyesha Although frequent/prolonged periods are quite common for some women as they approach the menopause they are not good for you and could cause anaemia. This in turn can trigger fatigue, low mood/anxiety, poor sleep and joint aches. It is important to get this checked out by your doctor; they may be able to give you something to stop the bleeding and also check that there are no other issues involved such as fibroids, polyps or a prolapse which may be contributing to the bleeding. Best Wishes Eileen

Hemorrhoids during menopause? allergies worst? pain in upper legs?
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tina Yes, haemorrhoids are quite common; falling oestrogen can weaken the digestive tract and also cause constipation which can be a major factor. A daily glass of prune juice can often help with this and remember to drink plenty of plain water every day. Immune faction can also be compromised, making allergies worse so you may find a course of the herb Echinacea, for a month or so, can be helpful. Pain in upper legs could be due to a number of factors so best to get this diagnosed by your doctor first. Best Wishes Eileen

Hi Anita Happy New Year to you too! I would suggest going to your local health store and asking for a natural anti-inflammatory herb; there are lots to choose from such as Devils Claw, Ginger, Turmeric, cherry juice. They should be able to help you choose one for your particular situation. I would also recommend a daily fish oil capsule. Nettle tea, every day, can often help, and remember to drink lots of plain water every day as dehydration can make joint pain worse! Best Wishes Eileen

One of the things you can do is have a big glass of water as you get out of bed (have it ready the night before) the body will usually use this and you may find this doesn’t make you go to the toilet any more. You could also have a couple of glasses once you are home for work.

headaches gets worse even in meñopause
@AvogelCoUk
@AvogelCoUk 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Stella Headaches are common in the menopause and often caused by fluctuating oestrogen levels. You may find Menopause Support helpful, as this is traditionally used to help gently raise and balance oestrogen. It also contains magnesium which is great for muscular tension headaches. Stress and dehydration can also be contributory factors, so make sure that you are drinking plenty of plain water every day. Tea, coffee, and fizzy drinks don't count and are best avoided in the menopause anyway (they can trigger hot flushes in some women). Headaches can, however, be caused by other factors not associated with the menopause, so do get this checked out by your doctor as well.
