Interesting ideas. Terrible execution. These also have to be the worse trained Jedi in existence. And they're ALL on the same team. Very weak character motivations. Pretty lazy or stupid reasons for why characters do things. Characters constantly changing their minds and personalities. Motivations that change that easily makes investment in the characters not worth it and not rewarding. Totally agree with you. This show seems to be written by people who really don't actually understand the Jedi Order or even the SW universe as a whole. Pretty rediculous.

People need to realize that the Coven was not evil and when you go from that viewpoint you realize that they were just a family trying to protect there children but also there way of life- They didn’t kill anyone they didn’t hurt anyone the only time they used there powers was always in defense never in trying to kill someone After Mother Aniseya was brutally murdered by Jedi Sol wrongfully that is when the Coven fighting still in defense but also in offense so that no other person would die- You can feel how you want to feel but Jedi Sol Jedi Torbin and the wooky Jedi we’re all in the wrong Carrie Anne moss was the only one who consistently tried to understand what was going on from a higher big picture view point But those Jedi after what they did should have all been stripped of there station and immediately removed from the Jedi order and the fact that they weren’t because they kept the secret for 16 yrs shows that they were corrupt and had fallen into darkness The witches were definitely innocent the Jedi came in like child protective services and instead of actually looking at the situation Sol just immediately said they were in danger all because he wanted a Padawan if you listen to Carrie Anne moss character She states and that’s why I have a Padawan and you don’t they made that scene jump out because they wanted the viewers to realize that Sol was jealous of not having a student to teach so much so that it clouded his judgment. Yes the witches lived differently but all three of the male Jedis were jumping to quick conclusions and making their own decisions At the end of the day aniyseya had made up her mind about letting osha go with the jedis there was no need for violence When she shouted out No it was her way of trying to stop the jedis and mother Koril from fighting and before that happened Sol yet again jumped to conclusions and killed her immediately making him the bad guy and darkening his spirit Everything after that moment was just a response to the jedis killing their leader but they never were in danger the ceremony wasn’t evil and neither were any of the witches They just did things differently

18:46 This is 100 years before we see the Jedi at their perceived best. Sol isn't acting like any Jedi we've ever seen before. Indara, is, but we see her struggling to teach her padawan the important things; she wants him to discover the answers on his own, and look where that got them. I wish we knew more of what was on Kelnacca's mind, but from what we saw, Indara was babysitting the crew and she got rolled. Was Sol wrong? I'm not too sure. Yes, he did appear to be heavy-handed in what he was doing, but we saw Osha's side of the story! She really did want to go; she really did want to be something else, and she felt trapped. How do we know that Sold didn't sense Osha's grief? How do we not know that Osha wasn't inadvertently reaching out through the Force to be saved? She reluctantly said that she wanted to go through with the ascension even though her face told a different story, and what happened moments later? Her saviors arrived and stopped the whole process. Before any of this went down, we heard Mae and Osha chanting their mantra. We saw her actively using her power. This episode made me see what we saw in the third episode from a different perspective, was Osha trying to improve her connection to the Force? Is that why she went to the Bunta tree, to practice without Mother Koril correcting her every move? The Force doesn't seem to come to Osha easily, especially when she wants to use it, not like it does for Mae. Did Osha inadvertently call out in the Force for someone to save her? Did Sol hear her cries through the Force because he wanted a padawan? I'm not so sure that Sol did what he did on his own. Torbin didn't! Mother Aniseya manipulated his mind, she planted a seed and fear. Torbin already wanted to go home and she made matters worse with her violation. Sol and Torbin did invade the witches' coven uninvited and Mother Aniseya had the right to say what she said to the two Jedi before her, but Mother Koril dialed it up to elven and turned the situation into a fight. Before the Jedi knew who they were dealing with Torbin and Kelnacca asked if the witches were Nightsisters, and Indara warned them that they didn't know enough information to make that conclusion, but that seed was already planted too. This group's knowledge of witches and their magik is Nightsister's magik--both the Jedi and the witches of this coven made rash decisions based on their knowledge of how they both perceive each other to be: the witches see the Jedi has an institution controlling the Force who forces their will on others, and the Jedi (this group anyway) see witches as a threat. Mother Koril lowering her center of gravity, preparing to attack made Torbin draw his weapon. Torbin drew his weapon because Mother Aniseya violated his mind earlier; he saw what they could do, and he wasn't about to let that happen again. Even though we hear Mother Aniseya yell no, what she did next looked very much like an attack of some sort; she was turning into a demonic-looking black cloud that was drawing Mae into her, and Mae worried--Sol called Mae Osha at the moment, and if he heard Osha calling to him earlier, it makes sense why he drew his weapon to save her. Two groups of people who cared for the well-being of the girls did some very bad things. I don't think one side is more guilty than the other. Did Sol do what he did because that's what he wanted to do? Maybe, but I don't think so. This story started off with a tease of the power of two. We saw what one of them could do when she manipulated her power to bend to her will, but we haven't seen the other one use her power yet. She's been pretty passive about it--last week, she warned Qimir about her master finding her and that he was powerful in the Force. Qimir corrected her stating, "That's your power Osha. Somewhat ought to teach you about that." It certainly sounds like Qimir is implying that Sol is as powerful as he is because of Osha; is she amplifying his power. She wanted a savior; did she empower one? I guess we'll find out next week. Everything is coming to a head =) Oh! What was in the pit?! Who's down there? Have we seen the last of Mother Koril? I'm not so sure that we've seen the last of her. Did she merge with whatever was in the pit? Someone sent Osha the vision she saw of her and Mae as little girls, and it wasn't Qimir!

Qimir could also be darth venamis. He isn’t from the bith species but I mean he was a false “sith” who tenebrous trained in secret incase things failed with plaguies. Bunta tree is also similar to coma bloom the plant plaguies gave to venamis. Qimir could have found out he was being used and decided to go off on his own to get his own “acolyte”.

Really appreciate you sticking with this one, because I’ve really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on it. You have always vibed with me and the way I feel about these shows, and especially this one: it was like you were saying what I was thinking out loud. I get where the overarching story is trying to go and I’m fine with that, but the show really feels incompletely executed. Sudden character changes, weird editing, poor pacing & story flow; it’s just all so distracting and detracting from the story we care about. It’s funny you mentioned the music at the end, because I had a very similar reaction when I heard it; my thoughts immediately went to the Willow show and how they chose to include modern music in the end credits. Does it change the story? Obviously not. But as a viewer, it’s immediately dissonant and pulls me out of my headspace thinking about the story. It’s unnecessary, and I really don’t understand why they would choose to risk viewer attention as immediate reaction starts to coalesce into long-term memories of the show. Take it easy and may the Force be with you!

Things to be cleared up next week (1) Why Torbin wanted to get back to Coruscant so badly? (2) How Qirmir got involved in this? (You don't recognize me; do you?) and (3) How & why Qirmir got his scar? - and (my guess) they're all related.

I believe that this show seems so weird because it is being portrayed from a complete 100% anti-establishment standpoint, as if the ruling party is 100% wrong and completely inept all the time. Basically it's just going too far and instead of showing weakness they're showing complete lack of confidence

I believe his desire to go home was greatly amplified by Mother Aniseya's messing with Torbin's mind. That's why he became obsessed with it, instead of just continuing to whine about it.

When you mentioned Torbin, I had the thought... A padawan wanting to go home may signal the downfall of the jedi and the decline of their local jedi temple. There must be a reason, they are only restricted to coruscant by the prequel era.

I think this is a tale where nearly everybody failed to listen and slow down. The least blameless amongst the Jedi were Kelnacca and Indara. Indara kept warning them to slow down and back down. Kelnacca was pretty much staying out of it until the witches took over his mind. It probably took the entire coven to control him and I think by Indara breaking their spell and connection, that’s what killed them. I think Sol did what he did because he thought Mae was Osha and thought the Mother was getting ready to do something with her when she transformed and looked to be merging with Mae. Hence he stabbed her to protect who he thought was Osha.

I generally agree with your opinion. The Jedi are shown to be clumsy, that's true, except maybe Indara. I don't see her deviating from the Jedi Code. The request for lieing the Council was not to protect her, yet for Osha. By the way, I enjoy your reactions and comments because I'm an old Star Wars fan myself.

Hey...who you calling old?!! 😆 I think my issue with Indara is that she doesn't seem to have the respect of her team. She is the master in this group and they don't listen to her. She tells them one thing then a few seconds later, she gives in and let's them do whatever. It just comes across as very sloppy. I don't know if we're supposed to see her as a weak master but that is how it is presented. Also, why did the council send them on this mission, to find the vergence, only to tell them they've interfered too much once they find what they are looking for?? Let's see how they land this plane next week!

Hey fellow Star Wars Pop/ Myth/ Legend, hope all is well. Look brother I feel like your channel is my free Star Wars therapy session (the check is in the mail) where I can respectfully vent about a Star Wars show, that has the blueprint for an amazing series but that lacks a decent script. I find myself picking this show apart as soon as the recap option appears having more questions as to why certain characters, given their training would make the decisions they make. The Jedi in this series seem more like fresh recruits from Starfleet Academy in Star Trek instead of trained Jedis who are connected to the force. Padawan Gump's key motivation to be manipulated is homesickness? Really? These are the "high stakes" that lead to a complete massacre? He misses his little blanky back on Coruscant? Side note, they've been on this planet for weeks, but they haven't told Gump their purpose for being there until its convenient for the plot. Also, they discover the twins a 1/2 mile from their campsite. The coven is located about the same distance from my house to the closest McDonalds. And I can't stress this enough. They've been there enough time for Gomer Pyle to be homesick... WEEKS! No one on the writing team asked if the big reveals in this episode merited making the audience wait 6 weeks. The different POVs weren't that dissimilar from each other either. Except for the actual fight/ misunderstanding (?) between the coven and the jedi. BTW, this is a nitpick (hell my entire comment is a nitpick) but the coven was able to possess the Jedi Master Wookie, how? What were they able manipulate in his mind, his love for ripping arms off? None of the other Jedi were taken over, except for the padawan. Why not take over the rest of the Jedi? Last little nitpick but the scene with the mother of the twins that decided to let Osha leave with the Jedi. She doesn't lead with telling the Jedi her intentions first instead of catching the vapors and turning into a fart in the wind? That scene should've had more emotional weight, but it played out like this was just a clumsy simple misunderstanding... OHHH you got me, I've been stabbed with a lightsaber, wait what's that smell, did I leave the oven on? Sorry its late and I'm rambling again and getting silly, kind of like this script. I'll end with this. I've been pretty consistent with how I've viewed this show. The bones are here for some interesting ideas to build upon but the script in my opinion is a hot mess. This needed a few more rewrites before it dropped. We'll see how they wrap this up. I'm praying they have the cojones to end the final scene with a hard edit of someone talking and being cut off in mid-sentence by the end credits (Sopranos). If anything, that would be the consistent throughline throughout this series. See you next week!

I’m right there with you. It has felt like the writers were cooking something interesting, and I’ve been interested in seeing how it turns out. But with the revelations in this episode, it’s like the cooks just dumped a whole jar of paprika into the pot. MAYBE it’ll magically turn the whole thing into a delicious stew, but at this point, I don’t see how. My opinion on the show has gone from “mildly interesting” to “intriguing,” to “disappointing.” The finale will need some masterful plotting to weave this together into something that I’d consider “good,” but I guess it’s possible. We shall see.

Yes, Torbin's whole motivation is to go home. I believe the mother took that homesickness and amplified it when she was screwing with his mind. And I think Sol attacked because he thought THEY were under attack. As far as the music, I agree with you. You should've seen my face when I heard the (Star Trek) Enterprise theme the first time...and every time after.

After watching the episode 5 of season 2 of House of the Dragon I almost forgot that The Acolyte still exists🤣I liked episode 5 and 6 but Lesley promised us a Sith show... This is a show about boring twins. I want a good written Qimir show, I like Sol because Lee Jung-jae is doing his best. I liked how my Queen Trinity destroyed the coven and I liked to see Kelnacca and Torbin in action. That`s it. So disapointed ! Pls give me a REAL Sith show maybe with Darth Bazil? 😅 Greetings from Germany😉

I think the flashbacks work. I think having the mystery ongoing helps make it more interesting. I was a bit confused about why Sol killed Aniseya, but I think he saw Mae (who he thought was Osha) disappearing, and he assumed his fears were correct that the witches were harming the children. It's also quite possible Torbin was still affected by the mind invasion. Not certain what happened with the other witches. For now, I'll assume they are dead (except May Koril), and their effort combined with Inadara pushing back backfired on them. I'm interested in seeing how it all wraps up next week.
