I thought it was obvious from the trailers that Carrie-Ann Moss wasn't in this show much. We barely saw any clips, and they were all from the same location. I guessed (but wasn't sure) that she would be killed since the few clips we had of her was from the fight. So either she was only in the show for a cameo, or they were going to use her for a secret role (and Disney isn't that creative).

My issue is that hubris, arrogance, etc, creeping into the Jedi Order leading to its eventual downfall is something we already saw in the prequel. We're supposed to be in the era where the Jedi are supposed to be at their peak, mythical status and we're getting Jedi that are having the wool pulled over their eyes (seemingly) and clearly showing arrogance, hubris, sketchiness(?) and sort of this bureaucratic incompetence. That's... nothing we haven't seen before and it's not what I'm interested in seeing when I thought we were going to finally see the mythical Jedi of yore. I don't know if the current narrative is going to be that the mythical, legendary Jedi were never a thing and they were always arrogant and full of hubris with clouded judgement (which makes me wonder how they maintained the peace for centuries even thousands of years) or that we have to just go even further back in the timeline to find them. Either way, it's familiar territory we've already explored so I'm hoping we get interesting and/or creative storytelling in the remaining episodes.

@Ruylopez7784 ай бұрын
This is a really bad take. 1. Sabine was an established character that people cared about. 2. The show was about them learning to work together. Which is why at the end she goes to help Ahsoka. 3. The point was that she lost Ahsoka's trust, and the map, and later when Sabine had to choose, she chose Ezra over destroying the map, not the injury. Ahsoka continued her search without Sabine, which resulted in Hera getting into trouble. 4. Killing off a new character that nobody knows or cares about doesn't take any writing skill at all. 5. That said, surviving lightsaber stabs is lame, as is most of the writing in these shows, especially the way they pad a 2 hour story into 4+ hours.

The end of the episode also had a Sith igniting his lightsaber for no reason, which is not good writing. Much like how Kenobi had Vader sat on a throne doing fuck all.

As for the cover-up, I guess that's only really revealed in the second episode that there's f-ery around the circumstances of that fire so maybe the characters' behaviors will make more sense to you after that one. Cool show though. I don't know if it'll make me retroactively interested in the High Republic but it's fun to see the hypocritical state of the Order at the time. $10 says that Mae dies and Osha becomes the next Sith apprentice by the end of the show, though.

Obviously we have to finish the show and see but to me is very easy to explain why in TPM the Jedi claim the sith have been gone for a while. This is 100 years before that so you can easily cover it up and never submit to the archives. I’m sure Yoda maybe knew but thought they contained it so it didn’t need to be a known thing. Further showing the ignorance of the Jedi and why they fell in the first place.

I’d be interested if you have time to explain what you mean about the fight looking choreographed, no movie fight isn’t, so what about it makes it feel that way for you? For myself I thought it was very reminiscent of Vader vs the female inquisitor. He was so much more powerful than her he didn’t even have to pull out his lightsaber and just doged and made her look foolish.

(badly) choreographed

This is a little nitpick thing I just found funny. But these twin sisters have been apart for years at this point, right? And yet they both have the same, very specific, very intricate hairstyle? Eh, hmm, ok. They could have had different hair, but when hooded look exactly alike or something. I don't know, I just thought that was funny.

How are you guys doing? African-American male here and I will say I understand what some of you white men are talking about. I grew up watching European Americans play a lot of cool parts and it didn’t bother me but something is going on in Hollywood. I like my brown skin, brothers and sisters I like my European American brothers and sisters, but the fact that there was almost no white males said something. To me a lot of white males watch the show so why not have something that they can latch onto? I get it. I’m African-American. I get it but also come on.

Weird "modern" dialogue, some lazy writing. I love a mystery, especially a Jedi mystery?? But it plays so weird and awkward. I loved Sol, his Padawan and Osha. Carrie anne moss died stupidly imo, the comments say shell be back in flashbacks , i dont really care for that, especially how her character died. Yord and the green Jedi look like theyre cosplaying in 2024. Im very mixed and sad, i hope it picks up the rest of the sesson but so far, meh

You aren't bothered by the stilted thing overly simplistic dialogue? Also, the characters make strange decisions.

@@ahmorgan no i think it’s written for new fans to jump back on the bandwagon. also i think im starting to recognize i am aging out of star wars. i like seeing the ships and the tech and all that great sound design but i am okay with the show being aimed at that YA, 18-25 demographic that we love to buy all that merch’

@@reynaldomcwhiskey6689 I feel that. I enjoyed the tech, the sets, and the music. I think the story has potential but it feels very rushed and dumbed down to me so far. I'm not saying the OT was the most complex storytelling I've ever seen but there was some depth to the characters and weight to the story.

Yeah I get they tried to show that Moss' Jedi Master was killed because she cared about someone else's safety, but that could have been a more emotional beat and the self-sacrifice she made could have been better and more dramatic (like what if she dies saving someone she genuinely loves like her father, or an innocent child...anyone but a random bartender?). I get what they were trying to do, but it just missed the mark for me. And for sure, you don't kill off the best actor in your show after 5 minutes. That character could have been played by someone else, and have Carrie Ann Moss in a bigger role elsewhere, like have her working with Sol instead of shirtless bro. This show needs talented veteran actors who are compelling and make us care about their goals and their fate, and they had one in Moss and just tossed her aside.

Sol is great and the fight scenes are amazing, but otherwise it was plagued with clunky dialogue and baffling character choices. Hoping it improves.

Fight scenes amazing? It’s just flipping around nothing is happening and no one is fighting. No sabers used whatsoever

Love the way everyone is pissed and automatically hating the show because Carrie Anne Moss died, if it was just some other random actress and not her no one would give a shit 😂

2nd ep was really good, the Asian Jedi is the best part of the show. I had issues with the first ep tho, like Carrie Ann Moss getting killed right away was so dumb and that fight looked cheesy at points. And the Trade Federation people not having accents was the dumbest thing ever for so many reasons. I also thought the people/droids on the prison ship had bad designs and actors.
