I can tell you why she puts the helmet on. Leslye wanted the same "OH MY GOD!" feeling in her show, as we had in the "Revenge of the Sith" with Darth Vader for the first time breathing in the mask. This whole story writing is an insult to anyone with even half a right mind.

The only thing I found slightly kool about that scene. Is that from the outside she looks menacing, but from the inside she sounds as just a scared child, which in reality is kind of a metaphor on all Sith. Many of them are just children in adult bodies, unable to understand/control their emotions and so they end up lashing out in anger and fear. But if they intentionally meant to visualize that I’m sure they could have done it better, that’s just my headcannon 😋

I get it that it’s a much bigger operation if you’re in the States but still. Lisbon was awesome. So nice, historical, friendly, English is widely spoken at least in the city. It’s not a small children family destination. Walking around the city - which you absolutely should do - is all about climbing hills. I guess it’s kinda like Europe’s San Francisco, not that I have ever been so San Francisco. I’m 53 and married so I don’t sample the clubbing scene but you can pub crawl for craft beer if that’s your jam. Also, most European cities have a small but vibrant English stand-up scene and those are always a hoot. And yeah The Acolyte suuuuucks. It’s amazing to me that a studio gave an amateur 180 MILLION DOLLARS and apparently with no oversight. I have to wonder how long this is sustainable.

The fact that Mae went from "Im done with this shit, I have my sister back, Im turning myself in" to "Im going to impersonate Osha, leave her on the planet, maybe shes dead or some cockroaches will eat her and then Im going to kill Sol" made my head spin. Who wrote that? Then once again the Jedi temple made me question how the Jedi even rose to power in the first place. Looks like a bunch of adolescents running the place. Nobody even looks powerful. These are the same Jedi who are descended from the Jedi who crushed the Sith? I get that they havnt faced sith in generations but neither did the Jedi in the prequels and they looked like fucking Jedi. And then Master greenskin, a Jedi Master, says she gets sick while flying through space. Lmao, a Jedi fucking master gets sick sitting in a ship in space. In fucking Space. In a ship that has stabilizers and inertia dampeners. She wouldnt fucking feel a thing unless flying through atmosphere. How does a Jedi Master get "car sick". "Take the wheel Osha". My god. There is no fucking wheel. Then she proceeds to sit down like she wasnt just about to kill him. Just follows his orders blindly. But then expertly pilots the vehicle. How does she even know what buttons to press. Honestly, flying that ship has to be as difficult as most heavy machines today. You need to have some kind of training on that spaceship. Its not like a car. They are not all the same.

I am convinced that actors with an extensive theater resume are far better at showing emotion than those that start out on film or TV. Long ago animators discovered subtle movements and expression get lost. These have to be exaggerated to come across on screen. Disney animators discovered this when they started using rotoscoping. Stage acting you need your expressions to come across to the people in the back, both physical and vocal. In TV and film, you have no idea the size of screen. What looks good close up to the director on set may not translate to screen. When watching back the dailies, the director might not notice the suppressed performance because of the memory of their live performance up close. I lavy most of the performance issues on the direction. Of course, bad writing doesn't help anyone. Just my thoughts.

This series drove me to binge watching Andor again over the weekend. For about the same cost per episode Andor has far superior writing, much better acting, better CGI and sets, better action scenes, and a coherent plot with consistent character behavior...just better everything. I get that if Jedi swinging lightsabers and space battles is all you get from Star Wars then Andor is a nonstarter, but if the gritty underworld of the individuals who make the more forward face of the rebellion possible via acquiring technology, information, and funding intrigues you then it's an excellent slow burn. What combat happens is mostly brutal and short, characters make the decision and act instantly, they didn't celebrate those actions instead often seeming to regret what needed to be done. In many ways it's more grounded and realistic than any other Star Wars, I definitely enjoyed it more the second time around. Only one comment about this episode. When she comments that she can't attack him because he's "unarmed", the individual who force tossed you into a tree and snapped another Jedi's neck with his bare hands isn't unarmed.

In fairness, I've seen her in a few things and Sternberg, isn't that bad an actress. The problem is the writing and the directing is appalling. They're trying to make her character menacing, and brooding, but it's just not coming off. For starters, she looks like she's on the verge of smiling all the time. In fact, she kind of has the Disney wammmmmmen, girl boss, Holdo, "I'm so much better than you, pleb," look. That's not imposing, staunch, or dignified at all.

100% The writing and directing is just straight up amateurish - there is literally zero character development, a convoluted yet almost non existent plot and laughable dialogue. With the $180M budget they had they should have just filmed it as a movie and split it up into a handful of episodes which move the story along in a significant way instead of the disjointed 8 episodes only containing about 25 minutes of content (which realistically comes out to about 6 minutes of actual plot per episode). It’s frankly embarrassing

My favorite Sternberg performance was the dis track when she was pushing her no-no into the camera. Fine piece of work.

The actor in question i.e. Harry Trevaldwyn on his IMDB entry has done exclusive TV work, and not a single movie. I suspect he knows this show is stih, and he's in apparently in just one episode - Carrie Ann Moss is in two -, so he'll take the money and then distance himself asap to save his budding career.

The mental gymnastics required to solve why the Korean Jedi couldn’t detect May could solve the unified field theory i.e. theory of everything. In short, it was May’s latent lesbian thread force combined with smilo ren’s esoteric wisdom and synthesized by the lesbian witches power of many incantation.

Yeah, we thought they were singing "the power of manyyyyy" but in fact they were saying "the power of Mannyyyy".

The biggest thing is a Jedi master would absolutely sense the dark side vs the light side. When she’s behind him, that’s full on dark side. He would’ve felt it. So dumb the AI generated show is.

Yes must be deadpan - she has to have little range - that’s the rule - she definitely can’t smile etc. that wouldn’t be girl boss - she has to be cold, uncaring and mostly unphased- except for anger because that’s their perception of being powerful/tough- and given the show this has to occur even more so towards men

Why would they think hiring writers that have no idea what Star Wars is would be successful?

I'm surprised when Osha put on that helmet she didn't utter that line from Batgirl, 'I am powerful'.

Disney should have named this episode, "The Acolyte Episode 6: Why We Need Another Writers' Strike"
