I appreciate this video. Lots of context. Just wanted to add a bit of my very small part. I have had little to no personal interaction with most Star Wars channels over my career by design. I’ve tried to respond to people but sometimes emails and comments get buried. In 2016 I turned 18 and my life changed. I moved and devoted more of my time to KZbin, but I didn’t feel ready to jump into a community I knew little about. There was a period of time where I spent a lot of time online in my early KZbin career and I felt it was getting unhealthy for me. So, I decided to keep my channel more personal. Watching this I’m glad that I did. I think trying to de-platform creators is dangerous and wrong. I’m glad Star Wars Theory was candid with this.

Acolyte sucked because it thought 'the dark side is cooler' and in the words of its creator, the dark side is what drove her to write that story. Do you know what I find truly hilarious? George Lucas wrote the ultimate feminist icon in Princess Leia and then convinced the world that she was a helpless princess, despite what she actually did on screen. The Princess Leia that Han & Luke set out to “rescue” is not what they found when they opened the door to her cage, but the feminists were so blinded by their own rage that they never noticed it. Lucas told you one thing and showed you another. He gave you the hidden badass in a veneer of helpless Princess to separate the ones with more than half a brain from the ones without. I grew up military and then enlisted when I was old enough. Mark Hammill also grew up military. I would wager that the movie I watched in ‘77 showed us things we saw on a daily basis. Princess Leia comes out of that cell like a pissed off gunnery sergeant who still manages to keep calm and collected in a horribly executed escape plan. I certainly wouldn’t cross the Princess Leia I could see in that film, but that’s for different reasons. Watch that movie again. When Leia makes the “walking carpet” remark, remember what you are actually seeing. She is taking point and putting the support weapon in the squad farther back to provide better cover. That lets her fall back while Chewbacca covers her if they come across significant resistance. You just saw a bossy princess though, didn’t you? All through that movie, she does things only a competent, capable, experienced military field commander would do. Only Chewbacca even gets close to her record of one shot, one kill. Lucas even included a scene where she steps out to fire and doesn’t, demonstrating fire discipline. She didn’t have a good shot, so she didn’t fire. (That’s before the bridge swing, by the way.) C-3PO delivers the line that sets up the Princess Leia character as someone to watch closely in the first line of dialogue. “I really don’t know how the princess is going to get out of it this time” starts the series off with a mystery that 99% of people probably missed altogether. Lucas told you to watch the princess in the first line of dialogue in the entire series. That imperial officer saying “holding her is dangerous” has a double meaning. He could be talking about her political clout, but he could also be referring to her ability to escape, eroding the belief in the strength of the empire to impose order. And that’s immediately after she lied to Vader like it’s no big deal. All of these little details are why the Acolyte failed. All of these little details are why the sequel trilogy failed. The writers could not see that they had a second wave feminist hero in the Star Wars franchise and they are trying to create third wave feminist icons that do not fit. The force is not female as Kathleen Kennedy said. Her saying it proves that she doesn’t understand the force. What is the light without the dark? What are the Jedi without the Sith? What is logic and reason without emotion? What is female without male? That misunderstanding of the simple nature of the force is why she fails. Channels like SWE depend on Disney churning out as much crap as possible so they can make content. That’s why they are going after you for not gushing over the Acolyte. A thousand garbage shows would give them thousands of videos to make. Because of that, you are their enemy.

I remember seeing this old funny SW Machinima parody. While not canon does show another badass side of Leia, the scene starts with after the two stormtroopers had just stunned her and informed Vader. They're standing over her keeping guard, one says. "Think I turned the stun high enough, I usually leave it on stun level 4." "That's enough to knock out a bantha you idiot, 71 is just fine. And almost immediately she gets back up, kicks their asses and they're like. "I told it wasn't high enough!" So if a stun setting of 4 in their words is enough to knock out a bantha, just imagine how much 71 would be, and she gets up and kicks their assess before being stunned again. Think on that. And while I know of course it's not canon to legends or such, just goes to show you what a badass she was. Something nobody will ever be able to replicate these days with how the whole world wants to watch itself burn.

She literally stays back on the final ship on Hoth after successfully leading an evacuation/defense. Then it's her that leads the whole ass escape from Cloud City yet taps into the force while suffering great grief and used it to save Luke as he's literally inches away from death. With the various interviews around the Acolyte, I had this lingering question of whether disney only offered interviews to people they knew would be biased. For all we knew, Headland might have prior connections with these people. I'm not being conspiratorial. If Headland paints herself as a hardcore fan with strong LGBTQ preoccupations, then it's moderately likely that she might have been hanging out in the same chatrooms with the people interviewing her. Some of her interviews seem like they had compared notes extensively beforehand - like they were already operating on identical wavelengths. Explained want to talk incentives. Disney has incentives to cultivate relationships. Channels/outlets have things to gain by being agents of LucasFilm's PR team. So trying to demonitize criticism would strike at a competitor. If there are fewer competitors, they might rise in prominence. And Disney might know who had been a good little stooge.

I don't have the time to watch you very often anymore but the content you make and the way you articulate yourself is second to none in the Star Wars space (in my opinion). I have never seen you be discriminating or vile to any one. Often you call out the shambles of a story line or character ark, as you should... I used to watch Star Wars Explained but I quit after his Acolyte videos. There's no way someone could legitimately review that show and not criticize it. Is it a possible to like the Acolyte? Sure maybe. But to call it great and praise it? Nope. Lost all credibility.
