I'm pretty sure Varnestra is why the stranger's lightsaber has the hidden shoto. In Legends, a shoto is how Luke counters a light whip.
@Leftylt12345 ай бұрын
Yes and no, Luke built a lightsaber shoto in response to Lumiya’s lightwhip in particular, as her’s used additional physical strands that worked in tandem with her energy strand. The shoto worked to prevent Lumiya from tying up his primary saber while also making it easier to wield compared to 2 full length blades. Personally I see the dynamic in The Acolyte as a similar in strategy for Qimir and his master. Both of their sabers may appear to be of standard designs, but in reality they’re equipped with devastating features that can bewilder any opponent (Vernestra’s whip feature and Qimir’s concealed shoto). In essence, like master, like student.

"Who taught us that rhyme?" "I thought you made it up." It must be the invocation the witches used when they were created. Also, Osha and Mae were always two sides of the same spirit. As Mae began letting go of her anger seeking justice, Osha began embracing her passions and falling into darkness. They ended up on opposite sides from where they began, as what started as just a change in outfit became role reversal.

I think the tragedy is that both Sol and Anakin have the same problem - controlling their emotions - just different emotions. Anakin constantly struggled with his passion, anger, frustration, and desire for love. Sol struggled with his sentimentality, compassion, altruism, and desire to be a father. Neither of them fit into the Jedi Order's worldview based on that alone. Unlike Qui-Gon who grew attached to Anakin because he saw the potential he could have as The Chosen One, Sol grew attached to Osha (and to a lesser degree Mae) because he projected his own emotions onto them, just as Indara claimed he was doing with Torbin around the campfire. Basically, he doesn't deal with his own conflicts and instead seeks to solve the conflicts of others - even if they aren't really there. Sol was incredibly sentimental and instantly assumed that the twins were in danger with little real evidence. He disguises his selfishness as selflessness and creates the very situation that he thought he was preventing. He was born force-sensitive and thus became a Jedi, but in another life, Sol would have made a good husband, father, and family-man. As a Jedi though, he had to act instead as an unattached stoic - which he just isn't.
@HawkKing20005 ай бұрын
Sol lives forever in my heart. He was strong enough to save himself at the end but instead gave his life so that Osha could finally have closure. That is the highest form of love. That sacrifice only magnifies how much I love his character.

Since nobody really seems to know why Bazil does what does, I'm going to put forth a theory. He wants Pip. And the one person who he could convey that to (Yord, may he rest in peace in himbo heaven) is dead. Ep 2, he was eyeing him. Ep 5 he grabs him even at the risk of Qimir seeing him. The first thing he does is put him on the charger. When Mae comes in he attacked her and ran. I would assume to get her to chase so he could circle back and grab Pip again. This ep, he sees Sol locking on. Figures Pip will be destroyed or lost on space, so he stops him. When he sees Mog, he goes to him to demand Pip be returned, and presumably only agrees to help again under the condition he gets to keep him. Is this theory crazy? Yes. But since nobody else seems to know, I'm now going with that.

Bazil’s motives are unclear. Bazil does not explain himself to us, so we can only guess. Osha stopped Sol from acting out of anger to kill Qimir. Bazil just watched Mae attack Sol. Bazil may think Sol is trying to kill Mae out of anger, and so stops him. Stopping Sol from acting out on his emotions seems to be the common thread behind Bazil’s actions. Bazil does speak to one of Vonestra’s companions on Brendok. This is significant because with the exception of Bazil and the twins, everyone who has seen Qimir’s face with and without the helmet is dead.

This show has no reason to follow the book - otherwise Plagueis wasn't even born yet. I'm going to give this series the benefit of the doubt though and guess that the Rule of Two is going to be applied quite literally - with Qimir as the apprentice, and Plagueis as the master - for the sake of keeping the Sith "family tree" down to 2 Sith characters. The Sith and their habit of betraying each other suggests that a Sith master probably goes through apprentice after apprentice before they train the one who ends up taking their place; and considering that Plagueis lived another 50-90 years to train Palpatine also suggests that Qimir is his Sith apprentice, who - most likely - will either die by Plagueis' hand for attempting to take his place, or die by Osha's hand because Plagueis will cut a deal with her. Either way, Osha will become a true Sith apprentice when she replaces Qimir and becomes Plagueis' student. Though none of this is set in stone, and the show could go in a completely different direction. My point is, I expect that the Sith dynamic will be simply kept between Osha, Qimir, and Plagueis. Adding any more Sith characters would confuse fans and make the Rule of Two seem more like the "Recommendation of Two".

I actually thought it was Coral, because I believe Plagueis took on the form of Coral, and carried Osha/Mae. That's how he learned how Midi-chlorians created life. I'm not sure if Manny Smiloe Ren knows about him, or he does know about him, and wants to train Osha to help him kill Plagueis. That's why I would never trust those who seek the power of 2. The apprentice is always trying to become more powerful than the master and vice versa. The master is always seeking, or is open to a more powerful apprentice. Then one will backstab the other, it's just a matter of time and who strikes first. So I end this opinion with the following: Obi-Wan for President 2024

I suspect Plagueis is currently still Tenebrous' apprentice and he might be looking into Qimir because he's tiptoeing closer to the Sith. He might also have caught wind about Osha and Mae being created using the force and he wants to find out more about Osha. Him being there also strengthens the case for the unknown planet being Bal'demnic, a planet rich in Cortosis ore that Tenebrous was very interested in. I for one am very excited for what's to come, also in regards to hearing more about what happened with Qimir and Vernestra. I quite enjoyed the show overall and I think it absolutely does not deserve the hate it gets. It absolutely isn't perfect and there are things to legitimately criticize but I just don't see how it would break Star Wars like so many people are proclaiming. In the scene with Aniseya's mother, when Mae was asking for help, we had the opportunity to see some kind of magic where Anaseya was spitting and it also affected Mae. Do you think she was trying to teleport Osha.???? The hyperspace disaster that Indara was talking about in Acolyte episode 7. It was in the book Star Wars High Republic Light of the Jedi & Into the Dark. Where you can learn that all life on some planets was built in this event. Vernestra was alive at that time and because she is more connected to the force and when she travels through hyperspace she tends to have pain/"nausea". You could say that it is something similar to when Darth Nihilus in Star Wars by Republic vacuum cleaners the life from the planets. Better to read it or at least watch some lore video about it. You don't think that the fortress has collapsed. Due to the fact that the fire damaged the electronics and its gradual overloading and short-circuiting then caused the reactor explosion. And the oil burned similarly to the Olympic fire, which in reality burns like this even on a stone.?

What happens if Mae or Osha is killed? Being the same person, do both bodies die at once, or does the person inhabit the other body all of a sudden? I predict we might find out. If we get another season(s), that is. That could get wild and interesting in a way I've never seen fleshed out before, no pun intended. But I like the thought of it. Imagine the sudden stress of having both the light and dark sides in you where you never had them before, unlike all other people. That sudden, traumatic mental stress can also help explain why Osha turned so quickly from fighting herself to killing Sol with a dramatic vengeance after she learned the truth directly from his lips, no less. Edit: More questions, I have. What happens to her memory if only one body survives a killing, keeping in mind Mae's mind wipe? Does Osha's good memory take control no matter which one survives? I can imagine it would. We saw their Force connection already in different episodes. Imagine especially Mae getting her memory back but with extremely sudden dark and light sides or new goals, intentions, and desires as she confronts the Jedi on Coruscant.

@@Westbrook__ Osha “dreamt” of Mae. Mae fell in with a Dark Side being and was driven by revenge but demanded mutually-agreed combat. A hint of fairness or an axe to grind? It was unclear. Osha trained with the Jedi but could not restrain her anger enough to embrace the Jedi way. Too old to be trained or a hint of the Dark Side? It was unclear. As Mae began to reconnect with Osha, she drifted toward redemption. As Osha began to learn the truth, she drifted toward anger - and eventually revenge. Their orbits have remained in odd parallel despite their distance. As they came together again, it was clear there was a yin yang relationship over and above their sisterly mantra - itself clearly meant to indicate the preternatural bond of this pair of witchborn “twins”. Moreover, it is accepted Star Wars lore that Force-sensitive siblings share a strong bond. Coupled with the sensibilities surrounding real-world twins, it was exceedingly obvious Osha and Mae share a supernatural bond. Moreover, she said she saw Mae killing Sol. And yet, when that destiny arrived, it was Osha herself. The two sides of the same coin argument is best supported by that outcome. Did Osha take Mae’s place in the vision? Did she presume incorrectly? Was one of them fated to do the deed while the other watched? Finally, Sol clearly states they are somehow the same person born of the Force and separated by the witch’s power in the midst of the convergence. They inextricably bound, yet often polar opposites. An unbreakable bond between womb-mates. This is Fantasy Fiction 101. Raistlin and Caramon. Ghanima and Leto Atreides II. Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Jacen and Jaina Solo. Relatedly but not related: Rey and Kylo. Osha’s heel-turn wasn’t as well-developed nor as demonstrably justified as I would have liked. But from a broad perspective, it can be justified. Her friends could now be construed as her former captors. Her Jedi life a sham. Her entire belief structure a fraud. The Stranger dismantled that. And inadvertently set her free. The Jedi would only apply their justice to Mae no matter what story they told them. And Osha is now a murderer of a Jedi Master. Where else does she go? And what does she owe them? Who was she really meant to be? - As for why she stuck around when Darth Hot Springs left her free to roam and even pointed to his ship, not all choices we make are rational. As well, he strung her along with alleged knowledge she wanted. He had treated her sister “fairly” until Mae broke the agreement. And he did not kill her in her sleep. Again, I think the show outsmarted itself by being too subtle, too quick, and too vague. A little George Lucas dialogue might have served it well. However, the claim that there were no signs and no alluding at all is, IMO, quite unfounded.

That was so cruel what they did to Sol he didn’t deserve to be slurred by Venestra. Also Jord, and Jedi’s death was meaningless which was sad. Fights were great. I just hope they expand Qimirs character with Plagus
@travistownsend52075 ай бұрын
Jecki's death isn't pointless. It's meant to contrast with what the Jedi taught her. She says it's an honor to witness anything pass into the Force, but when it happens to her, it's not. It's sudden, horrifying, and tragic. The Jedi consume children in a mythic sense, either by taking them from families or using them as child soldiers. Sol says of the witches "They don't treat them like children!" Neither do the Jedi, Sol.

Great season, really hope we get a season 2. Would love to see Venestras past and what happened, where Qimir ends up, maybe more politics and of course Plagueis. Sol fight scene was wild, hope we see more of that in future projects. So much hurt for Sol to have Osha be his demise and have her bleed his crystal.

You can read about Vernestra's past in The High Republic literature series, and about where everyone ends up, I really hope they ignore the grifters and make more seasons to this series.

Whose side Basil was on? That beaver suddenly switched sides? He is against Mr Sol? Characters switching sides out of nowhere is what made the story a bit confusing. Besides that, it's weird that Osha managed to hotwire the elevator since the generator is destroyed in the fire long time ago. 🤔 Furthermore, there is a mistake in the editing where Qimir asking Mae to strike Sol down right after Mae had thrown away the saber. Qimir supposed to do that before Mae thrown away the saber, not after.

Well Plagieus was Palatines master. REALLY strong in the force and a master of all known sabre forms. Even Palpatine couldn't 1v1 him. He killed him in his sleep. Meaning he didn't stand a chance against him. But yeh this was before Palps so he is mentoring Qimir it seems.

It is necessary to show people, especially from the Toxic SW community, where their place is. We understand, the poor guy who played young Anakin,... The toxic Star Wars fan community drove the same Jar Jar Binks to suicide earlier. Due to the fact that mentally he could no longer handle this toxicity. The actor who played young Anakin also had to drop out of school because of how poisonous they were to him, mentally and emotionally ruining his entire life that was just beginning. And George Lucas couldn't do it, they wrote that he himself literally doesn't know how to make Star Wars. It was you, the Toxic Star Wars hating community, that forced him to sell the rights to Disney. I have spoken. And for anyone who doesn't like the 7,8,9 trilogy, I will reveal that there are three other worst movies that should never have been made, Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. So I will tell you that the new trilogy turned out much better than it seems, but that's my opinion anyway, we know that everything will work out in time. Because Star Wars is our childhood, our adolescence, our love, our feelings, our life forever.

I was happy and sad about David's cameo, he killed it but I wish they would've saved him for a bigger role that man has such a presence. Sol was set-up to be the scapegoat from episode 5. Funny how secrecy saved the Sith but it will end up destroying the Jedi. In the end it's a series of sad miscommunications. Sol never getting the chance to tell Osha the story (he promised her before they did the switch) and being prevented from turning himself to the council.

Glad you enjoyed the finale and want to see a season two! Despite issues with pacing and editing, I think The Acolyte has some of the best new stories in Star Wars (exploring the non-Jedi view of The Force, the dark side of the Force, expanding on Darth Plagious - I just finished the novel - highly recommend!). Too bad about Sol, but well acted and great to see a more Force powered, less lightsaber Jedi. Just the very samurai way Sol carried his blade in this one was awesome. The series could have been better as a movie format or a longer series. Between Kenobi and The Acolyte, they still need to figure out the 8 episode format.
@michaelrichardson65694 ай бұрын
This series actually helps to prove Count Dooku correct, and that the Jedi have been somewhat part of the problem for centuries. Sure, not all of them, but some of them have been hiding things, even important like the possible return of the Sith, for their own agenda. That was almost certainly Darth Plagueis (or a Munn)... thought he may not have been a Sith yet. 🙂 Tenebrous was Plagueis's master, but Hego Damask II of the Banking Clan (Plagueis) was always interested in science and things about the force, so we could be seeing Plagueis before he was a Sith Lord. Before this series, there is a lot of grey area in Plagueis's life as a Sith and before he became a Sith, so I am not sure Qimir could really have been his apprentice or his master. The Acolyte takes place 100 years before ANH, so I am not sure the math works on the years for this, but perhaps they will work that out within the grey area. 🙃

@@LouiseJulie_In the scene with Aniseya's mother, when Mae was asking for help, we had the opportunity to see some kind of magic where Anaseya was spitting and it also affected Mae.

@@LouiseJulie_Acolyte episode finale was great it wrapped up all the storylines and lived up to what I predicted in the theories. Anyway, I can't wait for Acolite season 2. Top 5 of my favorite castle series 1. Acolyte 2. Ahsoka 3. Mandalorian 4. Andor 5. Book of Boba fett The whole Acolite show is better than Kenobi and Book of Boba fett combined. They made mistakes and turned these two projects into a show and not a movie. Each of the movies are good in their own right, even 8 the last jedi, but that one stupid man was wrong. But these movies are still better than the ones below.\/ Okay, so the best trilogy of Star Wars movies from George Lucas' original era. And that: Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure; Ewoks: The Battle for Endor & Star Wars Holiday Special; Ewoks: Battle for Endor So what are you telling me now? This is total crap. George Lucas himself wanted the Holiday Special off the face of the earth. Acolyte episode finale was great it wrapped up all the storylines and lived up to what I predicted in the theories. It was good that they showed us the senator's view of the Jedi order, which I have held all the time since I watched the tragic story of Anakin and all the violence against sensitive individuals, but also the power of worshiping groups and cults that destroyed life. Everyone got what they deserved Sol Mae, Osha, Qimir,... I'm proud of Basil for helping Mae, Qimir's helmet made great sense since we know how strong his connection to the force is. #Hyperspace disaster/ catastrophe and we saw how Vernestra sensed him without her at such a distance. And most of all, they could finally see the life action of our beloved Gigachad of the Moon race, Darth Plagueis, man, his rake and his face are so sexy, it's now clear that he had Qimir before Palpatine. It would be great if Star Wars Legends saw the Darth Plagueis book in a new form for Canon. Anyway, I can't wait for Acolite season 2, I know that they have several series planned to complete the last phase of the High Republic era, because after the books, comics and series Jedi young andventures. Acolite and the game Eclipse are probably the last to close this era. Well, Andor season 2, Tales of the Jedi & Empire together with the Mandoverse projects will close the Skywalker Saga. and then I will gradually move on to Dawn of The Jedi and Jedi New Order. And of course the Old Republic era, so far we only have the confirmed Remake of The Knights of the Old Republic with Darth Revan in the main role. Heck Yeaaaaah the Disney Star Wars timeline is on a much better path than the Star Wars legends projects were. images.app.goo.gl/6xXb8iczBjhxeWmXA I'm glad that George Lucas himself didn't like what they did with Luke, for example, because he probably wanted Luke to be a panic until death because he really hated Mara Jade's character. Acolyte all-flashback episode 7 was very good. I liked the references to the hyperspace catastrophe that wiped out life on some planets; of which in the last episode Jedi master Vernestra has pain/nausea from traveling through hyperspace due to her strong connection to the force. The fact that Sol was an emotional Jedi like Dooku, Anakin and Quigon Jinn was seen in quite a big way. The turn of the plot, who is responsible for the death of the entire Clan of these Witches who follow the path of Bogan = Darkness in magic, they were quite similar to the Witches of the Sisterhood of the Night from Dathomir, where Darth Maul also comes from. The fights were great, the choreography was great and seeing two Jedi fight against a possessed Wookie Jedi was great. But most of all, normally, just like Mother Cora, I felt this emotional pain in my heart. When Sol killed her partner, co-mother of two children and the love of her life, mother Aniseya, in front of her eyes. The destruction reminded me of something similar to when the Jedi destroyed the entire planet of Korriban, where the original Sith race came from.
