I just wanted to comment about your view that Star Wars is somehow crystal clear about the simplicity of who is good and who is evil. I’d like you to meet my friend, Anakin Skywalker. Now before anyone tries to claim that Palp’s right hand-man to the whole Jedi Genocide kerfuffle wasn’t really Anakin, it was a separate master of evil - a dude named Darth - I’d like us to remember a time before the Clone Wars even began, when Little Ani slaughtered an entire tribe of Literal (sand) People that he later claimed were like animals. From enslaved to enslaver (of the galaxy), I don’t think George ever meant for Anakin / Vader to be a simple character (during the prequels, anyway.) I think he was meant to be a character that we could understand while also being horrified and heartbroken by his actions. I remember people hating that when the prequels were originally being released - but I think that flawed humanity is what makes the Skywalker Saga great! The Jedi aren’t perfect, they never were, even in Lucas’s time. Don’t judge them by the Almighty (thread?) - judge them by the Alternative. Good (and truth) are a certain point of view, according to both Obi-wan & Shiv. if one is to understand the great mystery, they must study all of its aspects… That said, this show is absolute dog$h!t. Not because of “agenda”, but because of bad writing, bad storytelling, almost no music (when is the last time you’ve consumed a Star Wars property where NO music immediately came to mind?!?) Star Wars has ALWAYS been political, but it has never had to sacrificed story because of it. That is the sign of competent storytelling and a competent storyteller.

Fans want a rich history of character they love. Amazing well written story without any agendas or DEI. Lucas received death threats for years. His daughter was tormented so much so she had to basically stay off the internet for years. The treatment of Ahmed Best sent him spiraling into depression and contemplating suicide. The treatment of Jake Lloyd is a travesty he is still trying to recover from. I don’t understand the discourse with Ki-Adi-Mundi. I was so happy seeing in live action the legendary Master Jedi of the High Republic era, Jedi Master Vernerstra Rwoh (former padawan of Master Jedi Stellan Gios). And I hated that Ki-Adi-Mundi with conehead and binary brain was retconned... As in GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... The Jedi from planet Dorin that looks like that "Perfect Jedi" we know Master Jedi Plo Koon is actually female Jedi Knight Ithia Paan. Im so glad they didnt mess and retconned Plo Koon on this show. I hope we can see some of the Jedi Masters who sat on the High Council during this Acolyte time period, including Jedi Master Yoda. I think Jedi Master Tera Sinube (Qui-Gon Jinn's first teacher prior to Qui-Gon being trained by Count Dooku) also lived during the High Republic era.

I love your take, I only diasgree with one aspect of it. You mentioned "It's very easy, it's good vs. evil. The Jedi are good, the Sith are bad. We don't want anything in between, because that's how George Lucas wrote it." I somewhat disagree, I think many parts of the story of the Skywalker family, Count Dooku, and Qui-Gon walking the line between light and dark is a big part of what adds intrigue to the story. Characters weaving in and out of the dark and light can be a great part of Star Wars if it's done well like it clearly has been. That being said, this show is garbage.

"Faster! More intense!" was Lucas' most frequent directions to the actors, and this episode was anything but that. There was so much standing around and talking and it drove me nuts. Mando had short episodes as well but they were dense, things were always happening.
