Star Wars The Acolyte has been loved by critics reviews due to Amandla Stenberg and Leslye Headland on Disney+. But while the audience had different opinions the professional critics and journalists have continued to run interference to defend The Acolyte for Disney Star Wars. But as the show continues and none of the old tactics work what's left? Well Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy creator of the next Rey Palpatine Star Wars movie jumps in to take off some of the heat by saying how she intends to ignore all the fans criticism. Disney Star Wars has proven, it always has another thing up it's sleeve for the $180 million The Acolyte show. Is The Acolyte worth watching?

Star Wars The Acolyte by Leslye Headland is supposed to be some impactful Star Wars shows full of subtlety and nuance, but no-one knew. While the professional critics reviews have loved the shows, the audience had a different opinion. Despite Amandla Stenberg attacking journalists for no reason, they've tried to run interference while running out of excuses. At this time, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy came out of the woodwork to attack the fans once more. A very co-incidentally timed talking about fan comments of a movie no-one wants. To think that bringing Rey Palpatine back to Star Wars is insane enough, but to have learnt NOTHING from the fans and actively ignore their comments while you do it? Insane. The distraction can't quite work though, when The Acolyte is such a disaster, even the journalists are beginning to come out with the truth. But what did you think? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

And the 2000s, the prequels may be the target of mountains of whingeing from the OT fandom at the time but they spawned a true new wave of Star Wars fans that liked OT and PT both. And now I can't even really talk to any of my mates, all of us big pre-Disney Star Wars fans, about Star Wars anymore, because the modern shit spoiled the pool so much it tarnished even the enjoyment of the old stuff.

“We will tell you more about character motivations in season 2.” Very typical amateur writer mentality. Producers are always “there isn’t a season 2” let’s do it now this might be the only chance. Then the writers say “but then what will we do in season 2?” Producers: “I’m sure if we are so lucky we will figure it out.”

Characters that "want to be free" must be one of my most disliked trope in modern story. It generally comes from characters that are rich/noble or live in a tradicional place, and they resent the fact they have to meet any expectations from their families. "I know all these people that came before me worked much harder than I ever will in my life, so I could have it better, but I don't own anyone anything." In the case of the acolyte is even worse, since there's no goal to the "freedom" the character desires, it's just freedom for freedom's sake, and since the only action that character made in the series was to murder people, he should have the exact opposite of freedom.

How can it be that directing a few episodes of a TV show and a documentary gets someone the keys to the kingdom to direct a $200 million dollar franchise film with 40 years of beloved fans, who this person said at the outset that she wants to alienate as a corrective to the joy they had, simply going to the movies to enjoy a good story.

At this point, everything they do (whether you agree with certain points or not) just looks more and more pathetic. This is desperate and petty and immature cowardice. I'm slightly surprised this next video isn't on the Barrow-wights being in Rings of Power (they were on the official Empire covers, look like haunted king ghosts from a game like Castlavania - which I do love those games - and article suggested Tom Bombadil is like the One Ring drawing them to him), but it just means yet one more Disparu video to add to my playlist of his stuff. I needed some British snark today - I'm currently sick, and this cheered me up considerably (I'm about to introduce my Dad to Disparu with the Doctor Who reviews, and have been watching with my aunt & uncle. We're about to start "Willow" on that journey - they're big fans of Disparu at this point.)

It's not even about male values, it's about good vs evil for all people. SAM: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something. FRODO: What are we holding on to, Sam? SAM: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.

As long as they do it, for their empowerment, it's fine. but the second it's done for the enjoyment of straight white men, in any media, it is "disgusting misogyny and blatant exploitation". What a farce, and they think we don't see through it. Dunno Hoes gonna hoe, but as long as they do it on their own terms, I suppose it's fine. I mean that's how they normalized only-fans.

It’s the new fan base they think they are going to create out of the activist, feminist, pronoun concerned, LGBTQ+ crowd, who remain a minority. Star Wars is no longer for everyone. Apparently, Disney thinks if you are an existing fan of Star Wars it’s not for you, or if you are straight or heterosexual, then Disney Star Wars isn’t for you, either. Why can’t we just get back to a clever plot with well developed characters we care about that’s actually entertaining?!

From a business point of view, if you have an IP that has (well, had) such a huge audience like Star Wars does, wtf are you doing trying to “bring in new audiences”? What? NO. The audience built in is massive. You should have been doing everything you could to KEEP the audience you already had. Also, what experience does this activist “director” think she has that translates into a completely different and fictional universe? I’m guessing, like all activists before her, she’ll treat the Star Wars universe as if it’s Los Angeles. Fact is, their constant “patriarchy” complaining doesn’t fit in Star Wars. There’s no basis for their form of feminism and racism in the Star Wars universe. They have to inject it in to it where it never existed before.

If there's any truth to what the guy caught dropping Disney in it about not employing white guys also said, they believed what their marketers told them as Disparu noted, they could easily keep their OG SW audience and rake in a new one with woke making more money and guaranteeing its future. Sounds good 'on paper' but no research was done and no post mortems on the failures for why shows failed yet they kept going. Not all young people are woke either. @@fundhund62 That's not why George sold Star Wars! He has thoroughly explained that he would have put all his time and energy into making episodes 7 - 9 if he would have chosen to do that, and that it would have taken him at least 10 years. He was 69 years old at the time when he said that, and he didn't think that he had 10 years left to focus on filmmaking when he was newlywed and had a young daughter to raise. He wasn't even sure that he was going to make it to 80 years old, so he wanted to spend as much time as possible with his youngest child before passing. He would not have minded giving new talent advice on making the sequels, but instead the people at Disney and KK betrayed his stories, characters and ideas, and they took Star Wars in a direction that George would never have taken it in. I will never understand the obsession with claiming things having terrible reviews is "review bombing". Think about it for a second. What these people are actually trying to say is that what they claim to be a tiny minority of haters is making multiple accounts to leave bad reviews & thus bring the review score down. If that were true then all they would need to do to make review bombing not work is have the people who did like the product leave good reviews. If so many more people loved that show as these people always claim, then the simple act of asking the fans to leave a review would give the positive score such an overwhelming majority that no amount of fake profiles downvoting could ever make the score come down in any kind of meaningful manner. So where are all the "fans"? If it's truly just a minority of haters leaving bad reviews where are all the fans to counteract them? Could it be that these fans don't fucking exist? Thought so.

To quote a remark I once heard at another instance of a painfully obvious twist: "the only reason people didn't call it is because we were giving the writers an _ounce_ of credit."

Bored rich people who have nothing to overcome or accomplish in life.
@MSgt5J071
@MSgt5J071 3 ай бұрын
That's a tough question because most people agree that rich people shouldn't tell others (especially those with much less money) what they should think, what they should believe, or how they should live their lives, but at the same time so many people who are not rich think they have the right to tell rich people how to spend their money. Neither is better than the other. Yes, everyone has the right to their opinion and has the right to speak their mind, but there comes a point where people need to stop sticking their noses in other peoples' business and stop judging them because they don't think or behave the way you want them to. That goes for everyone.

@@MSgt5J071 i disagree, i have the right to tell rich people to stop flying their private jets and wasting money on luxury products while the world is going to shit. Many Millions of people are going to die because of climate change in our lifetimes and these people who have the largest carbon footprint on the planet are lecturing us poor people about reusable plastic cups and paper straws. There is no longer a luxury of your live and let live mentality. There are too many people on this planet for that to work.

For all their courting of a new audience it's just been bomb after bomb and you'd think they'd realize maybe they should listen to what the fans want, because when a franchise does well it will naturally attract new fans.

Acolyte biggest disappointment is the waste of work their sountrack staff have done, seriously star wars needs a overal revamp of people that know the lore and can write "meaningful" scripts where it isn't a shit fest of terrible executions and lack of an understanding. How the hell do you have episode 4 just be "nonsense talking and no meaning until they introduced the sith".

I really think The Acolyte's script was generated by an AI and then "proofread" by a complete idiot. Character motivations don't make sense, scenes don't flow together and half the lines in the show are just exposition dumps.
