On that last note, that is 100% correct. My last movie was Last Jedi... and from that day I have never watched a single Star Wars film since. Sure I lurk to see what people are talking about (like this video) but my lurking has been becoming less and less as the years go by as the same sh!t keeps happening. I remember being so angry, so frustrated, until one day I just said... I don't need or want this anymore. I got tired of being angry and I got tired of being called an 'ist' by the ones who made the show. I got tired of being sad. So I gave it all up. Toys, dvds, role-playing games, video games, action figures, lightsabers, subscriptions, all of it. One of my friends told me that 'Star Wars is not for fans, it's not made for us. It's made for kids. And it will always try to be for kids. Our time is over.' I don't agree with that fully but it did help me realize that Star Wars is a corpse. And I am saying this for those who maybe also are tired of being angry. Let go. Give it all away. My life has improved greatly, I found other things to be excited for that are actually cool and don't hate me. I hope that everyone will finally set this down and move on to be happy. George gave it up, so should we.

You would think that the basic concepts of time and space would be so intuitive that any writer should be able to understand them, but The Acolyte is here to prove that theory wrong. Anything offscreen is treated almost like it’s in quantum superposition, able to be paused or fast-forwarded (or just fucking teleported) at will in order to make incompatible chronologies sync up how the script needs them to, and wandering off from a group of people taking the most direct route to a room allows you to inexplicably reach that room ahead of them. If you asked Tony Gilroy about the layout of any of the locations of Andor, he would have a map somewhere to pull out that would allow you to follow how each character moved through the location in their scenes. If you asked Leslye Headland the same thing about any location in The Acolyte, I think you’d just get a blank stare and possibly a grumbled assertion that the question is sexist.

There is one "Star Wars without war" aspect I would find very interesting to explore, and that would be where it is not the two clear forces battling between good and evil, but rather two forces battling within the realm of the Republic. Maybe boring politics, yes - but wouldn't it be interesting to know what the Jedi knights would do when they're sent out as peace keepers to a conflict, but both sides committ war crimes? How would their very core deal with the situation and decision making, when the black and white world they're trained to view it as, is shattered around them in pure grey paint?

The one "Star Wars without wars" concept I've seen that worked was the Galaxy of Fear books, but that was due to its protagonists and their unique position in the world. We naturally expect so much more now. Still no reason to make overblown CGI-infused remakes of classics like Blade Runner or Dune, but that shows you the level. The plot, especially for Dune, has not changed (or improved) since way back then, but everything around it has which made the story seem hollow at the end. Better to start afresh. Video games have the same shit going on. A lot of people like to argue "we're still seeing good big budget games!" but compared to the amount of trash we're being fed across all platforms, there's an almost eternal backlog of good old stuff to keep you busy, and that's not even counting repeats of your faves. Mainstream media in general is a mess.

That speech about power is basically Voldemort's speech: "there is no good or evil, there is only power, and those too weak to use it". Amazing, Hollywood continues to show their true face and completely disconnection with their audience.

More or less the Sith creed, too. A sort of pop-Nietzscheanism. Oddly, I am sure that Disney no more than Lucas recognizes that this is the relativist side, not the absolutist one.

Never heard that one, but it's basically true. Wars are won by force, not good vibes and stuff written on stone tablets. Harry Potter kills that snake guy by zapping him with a magic wand, after all. Speaking of that, JK Rowling and the movie people had years to come up with an ending and that's the best they could come up with?

@@mightisrightRight but it's untrue there is no good or evil, think WW2 the evil side was Germany and Japan and their war atrocities in the name of power was disgusting especially Japan even to Nazis. The good side was the Allies who liberated the prison camps and freed all the victims of the Holocaust and saving the world from a terrible fate. Power itself is not good or evil, only the person who uses it is. Like any tool such as a gun, power can be used for good or for selfish gains

Remember when Palpatine said “good is a point of view” Funny how the people who said “there is no good or evil” are typically the evil ones

Just watched this video now with hindsight of episode 3 (fuck turd shit storm)....... and all I can say is you called it. Grew up with Stars Wars and loved every minute of it. Was part of my world and existence. This show has become the epitome of everything that needs to change in this world. To you drinker, love your work and continue to be that voice.

I love playing "Spot the White guy" in current Disney project. It really gets harder and harder with each new project

Just look for the obligatory “this is the bad guy!” Shot. That is literally the ONLY role white men are allowed to play anymore.

I like the fact that Disney dares to make a series that is not interesting for the many "traditional" SW fans, but for people who are not the least bit interested in SW and won't watch the show, but are happy about the representation. Disney investors will certainly understand that.
