Nick could do a thousand better things better than another comedy special. Comedy specials as a format are tacky and turned into out-of-time dissonant and vile boomer sh*t. They should have NEVER been a big deal in the first place, and they are forcefully kept alive today through the current methods of content distribution that allow for opaque feedback on viewership. Why? Take it up with Elmo. But Nick could do it. It all comes down to opportunity cost, and The Contract.

the dynamic here really works. it's similar to conan and jordan schlansky in which one comedian crawled up from the bowels of society, sweating and screaming, building every bit of credibility they have with their bare hands and clinging onto their success for dear life. the other is someone of privilege that has a completely lax approach to their work because they know they'll cruise through life unscathed and remains completely unfazed by the other's inevitable ruination.
