That injection of the didgeridoo and the aboriginal chants into this song turns this in an absolutely unforgettable and MAGICAL 2 minutes and 20 seconds of moviemaking

Oh this is not only funny, but also very touching, there were so many moments in this movie I felt like crying and than I found myself cracking up with laughter another minute. Well, I guess only a great movie does that for you, isn't it?

Honestly my favorite part of the movie. Up to this point society has shit on our main characters simply for being gay and they find fellowship in the Aborigines, people who's entire history since European colonialism has involved being shit on for simply existing. It's an absolutely beautiful scene that makes me tearfully happy every time. ♡♡♡

Indigenous people of many countries have accepted LGBTI people openly. There is a lesson to be learned. And yes, one of my favourite movie scenes of all time - love the combination of Gaynor and the didgeridoo - fantastic!

Unfortunately real-life LGBT Aboriginal people don't often find the sort of acceptance in their own communities shown in the film. Homophobia is rife in the indigenous community, and many Aboriginal youths are kicked out of home for being gay. A lot even end up committing suicide.
@carolineeising7176 жыл бұрын
Yes, in many parts of aboriginal culture non-binary genders have been accepted for a long, long time. But unfortunately homophobia was introduced by Christian missions, so now some places are just as homophobic as white cultures.

Yeah, I got introduced to Stamp through the film The Limey, Pierce through LA Confidential, and Weaving through all of the films you mentioned. It was a big revelation to see all of these serial badass character actors hamming it up and having a great time with these flamboyant characters. Made me love them so much more.

Great movie, one of my favs. I'm usually an attention to detail person and I have seen this scene approx. 50 times, but I never noticed what looks to be Terrence Stamp tripping at the end. (Maybe its the heavy hat or the fact their feet are enclosed inside the costume). :) pretty funny stuff.
